“The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, i.e., the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being.”

so many people on here are so incredibly selfish that they insist on turning on the oscars and flooding people's dashes with it. they whine and complain and bold face tell palestinians that they can't be expected to "not enjoy anything anymore" you are tone deaf and selfish and far too desensitized to arab pain and suffering. it was demonstrated with the super bowl that israel utilizes big events like these to carpet bomb rafah to no end, and tonight it's being demonstrated again. people are dying and yet you still have to tune into what a bunch of millionaires who don't care about a thing other than themselves are doing. it's the definition of disgraceful.

"so we're not supposed to TUNE INTO THE OSCARS??" read the fucking room. the oscars should not have happened to begin with. and i wish i could say that this is a small percentage of people, but the oscars are literally trending right now. people legitimately do not care. it's sad but true.

Ramadan Kareem to all those who observe, may Allah accept our fasts and duaa and allow us growth and harmony over the course of the next month. May Allah ease the suffering of those in Gaza and across Falasteen, Sudan, Congo, Yemen, Tigray, Kashmir, West Papau, and all those who are oppressed around the world. May He grant them shifa, tranquility, steadfastness, and sabr. May He grant us the strength and ability to fight injustice wherever we see it, and victory over our oppressors.

Here is a list of resources for Gaza and Falasteen. Here is an even bigger list. Here’s a much smaller one. Here is one with resources for both Gaza and Sudan.

Here is the link to a GFM that is very important to me. Here is the link to a GFM for a family in urgent need of evacuation out of Gaza.

Here is a way to help out Sudan. Here are links for donations, Sudanese businesses to support, and brief education about Sudan. Here is a post with resources for education and updates about what's happening in Sudan.

Here is a post with resources for Tigray.

Here is a post with important information on boycotting for Congo. Here is a post with links to support Congo.

Here is a list of resources for education on various issues around the world, including but not limited to West Papau, Hawai'i, Kashmir, and Armenia.

You can check my resources tag for more. I know tumblr's searching system isn't the best, though, so I tried to put as many as I could from that tag here.

Ramadan Kareem. May every action we take towards justice bring us lasting freedom and tranquility 🌙

i don't think people in gaza will have a ramadan kareem this year, they will have one though. one day, a ramadan without bombs, without death, without starvation, without pain, without war, on a free (from the river to the sea) palestine. until then, keep them in your thoughts and prayers everyday. donate if/whenever you can, keep posting/reblogging about palestine however you can.

ramadan kareem everyone. i hope it brings patience, victory and salvation to gaza. amen

If there was one animal literacy thing I could change with a wave of a wand, it would be increasing people's understanding of how dangerous megafauna are. I think that in the US (and probably other Western countries too), we're so removed from wildlife and even large domesticated animals that people really have no perspective on how much a big animal can fuck you up. Even if they're "gentle."

This is a discussion going on on Twitter, too, the last few days: there was a thing where an Iditarod musher shot a moose to protect their team, and a lot of people are confused as to why that needed to happen. Apparently this moose had been hanging around the course for quite a while and was becoming quite dangerous to the sled dog teams. Moose are territorial and not to be fucked with. Everyone from Alaska or areas with moose are like "yup, that's just reality."

Same thing with the bison birth I watched last year. Folk really thought the staff should be in the habitat on the ground with the bison herd, helping with the birth. Sure, that's what we do with cows if we have to, but... bison are definitely not cows and, again, will squish you.

People tend to get it more with the predators. Few people will argue that a cougar or an alligator or a bear isn't dangerous. I think people kinda go both ways on wild pigs / boars depending on their experience. But herbivores or things that don't look traditionally pointy... it just kinda doesn't click.

Any large animal is probably stronger than you think and more likely to hurt you than you realize. Be it a dolphin, an elk, a sea lion, or even an emperor penguin... just don't go near them, buds.

Two people, a whole team of dogs, and they would have died if there hadn't been local backup. Four dogs required emergency surgery.

PSA for Across the Spiderverse:

Do NOT see the new Spiderverse movie if you have any form of epileptic condition or conditions affected by bright lights and rapidly changing colors.

I will not be spoiling the plot or anything happening in it, but it is important that people know, because ohhh my god the AMOUNT of flashing lights and rapidly changing colors from beginning to end was so rampant that even I, a non-epileptic autistic person, got a severe headache and wild overstimulation. They do not give a warning in theaters at all that this movie is NOT epileptic friendly from the literal beginning with the beginning credits - which is so, so sad!

This is a beautifully made film, it's wonderful, it's amazing, but unfortunately, it's not a good time for anyone super affected by bright flashing lights in rapid succession, especially those seizure prone.

I wanted to put this out there BECAUSE there are no theater warnings. Idk if anyone else has put it out there, but it is SUPER IMPORTANT!!!

I wish you all a lovely day and hope they eventually have a remaster that will be much more friendly to epileptic and other people affected by bright, flashing lights.

(EDIT: Changed all text to plain text for screen readers! Sorry about that, my bad!)

Americans not giving a shit about the wildfires burning down forests and homes in Canada until smoke starts spreading across the border. Meanwhile Indigenous communities across the country are far more likely to be impacted by the fires and I’ve seen all of one link to a charity and about nine million memes. 🙃

The charity is based in Ottawa and accepts in-person donations as well:

Odawa Native Friendship Centre is collecting donations for First Nations community members that have recently been evacuated. Drop donations at Odawa's office at 815 St. Laurent Blvd. When donating online, choose "Wild Fire Evacuees". Miigwetch, Odawa.

also. been having a very hard week. our house was burglarized / mini invaded. no one got hurt, but my sisters iPad she uses for her online school and dad's phone got stolen, and our kitchen was semi destroyed, our rice supply was spilled everywhere and some?? eggs?? and canned stuff was stolen. After that, a family friend who was helping me with house duties got a stroke. So now I am all alone in dealing with all of this. It would be a huge mental health imrpovement, would absolutely mean the world to me if you guys can maybe help me boost my art? it's just that I love drawing and it's the only thing that's been cheering me up.

my Twitter is my "home base" and I've been posting lots of my drawings there that I don't post here, idk only if you'd like to follow ofc.

my patreon is only 1 dollar a month, and if you'd like to support me n my disabled family, through patreon would be awesome! if you'd like!

and here is my imprnt

I also have three more slots of commissions on my ko-fi if you'd like to directly help.

My dad's phone has the philippine version of venmo, called "gcash", and it had about 200 usd in it that was only accessible through his phone (that got stolen).. it was for my mom's next hospital visit for her glaucoma and some grocery expenses.. so, if you'd like a custom portrait from me, I will do commissions. The automated message says the deadline is June, but full disclosure, the earliest I will be able to send a commission completed is JULY.

mostly I just want a bigger audience for my drawings, I want to share my comics and my love for southeast asian culture, and would really really love a boost. Thank you for reading through n I hope u have a good day.

Help Struggling Homeless LGBT Family

Hey everyone.

My little family has been homeless for a while and even with my new job, things have only been getting harder for us. My health has been getting worse due to stress, lack of sleep, and limited access to food and I’ve already missed a few days of work from it. I’m very worried that if something doesn’t work out soon, we aren’t going to make it. I have been desperately searching for a place that will take us but there are so many barriers and no way to save enough money for a deposit or fees with how things have been. Right now, we could really use some help affording a room in a motel near my job and food/bills/toiletries. There is only so much I can do alone and I am anticipating a breaking point very soon if something doesn’t change. Anything helps, including sharing this post.
