hannibal s2e10 naka-choko, mahler symphony 5 4th mvmt adagietto arr. brian reitzell
I was using this scene in my recent edit and I was knocked over by the accompanying music. sweet and lovely and beautiful, it brought tears to my eyes. so I went to check hannibal's music to find out what piece it is. then I did a little reading up on it because it's so emotional.
The famous Adagietto (fourth movement) is Mahler’s love letter to his new bride, Alma. It is this movement that was made famous in Visconti’s 1971 film Death in Venice. Marked ‘very slow’ and ‘soulful’ this is music of inexpressible beauty, reducing the orchestra down to harp and strings.

It is said to represent Mahler's love song to his wife Alma. According to a letter she wrote to Willem Mengelberg, the composer left a small poem:
Wie ich Dich liebe, Du meine Sonne,
ich kann mit Worten Dir's nicht sagen.
Nur meine Sehnsucht kann ich Dir klagen
und meine Liebe, meine Wonne![4]
In which way I love you, my sunbeam,
I cannot tell you with words.
Only my longing, my love and my bliss
can I with anguish declare.

well that adds some additional subtext. there's also an incorporation of brian reitzell's more horror soundscape design toward the very end of the piece as the two blur/conjoin.
I also have Thoughts on hugh's expressions and inflection but that's not really my lane.

You're so self centred

we are not born to die!! what are you talking about!! do you think a book begins just to finish? do you think a song opens with a beautiful chord just for it to end? you don’t read the book to finish it, you read the book to eat up the excitement and the emotions it evokes!! to learn and to digest and to fall in love and be heartbroken!! you listen to the song to dance and dance and sing your throat raw!!! to cry and smile and swell with the harmonies!! yes, we are born with the inevitable fate of death, we are mortal after all, but that is merely the finale of the play!! the final act, the closing of the curtains - we are not born to take a bow and exit stage left!! we are born to love and be joyous and yell and move and learn and cry and feelfeelfeel!!! we are not born to die, silly, we’re born to live!!!

no offence but there is literally nothing morally wrong with cheating on tests/at school… it’s up there with piracy on the list of Crimes Everyone Is Convinced Are Wrong And Harmful But If You Actually Think About Them For 12 Seconds It’s Fine And You Definitely Should Commit Them At Some Point
The real crime is setting up an endless chain of performance goals instead of a long-term mastery goal. Educators: you are playing yourself.
