when the objectively bad person has traumatic and honestly reasonable reasons for why theyre like that but it doesnt excuse their actions and only serves to make them more tragic as a character

fic trope that cant be beat imo: we had a one night stand but now we're in a professional situation and are both mutually panicking about it, so now it becomes a two person effort to try to be The Most Normal People Ever

and when their first meeting was kind of lukewarm but ok, mostly unremarkable? but NOW in this professional deception they get a lot closer and discover they really click? mhm yes good trope
