Inside there was a bunch of papers, the top paper read* "To Barry, if you have received this then I have yet to find my way back to Emma, I can't think of anyone better to take care of her than her favorite babysitter, the other papers make you her legal guardian whilst I'm away, it also states that if a year passes and I'm still not back you will stay her guardian no matter any other circumstances. -Thank you, River-
Barry stared at the letter with wide eyes. He read the words over and over. He couldn't believe this. River... was giving him legal custody of Emma? He took a deep breath, running a hand through his hair.
He read through all of the legal paperwork. It was legit. This wasn't some kind of joke or prank. He was a foster dad, now. He sat down heavily on the couch, looking around the house. Then he steeled himself, standing again. If Joe could do it, so could he.

Barry glanced down sadly at the little girl. He held her close, rubbing her back. He knew what it was like to lose your parents at such a young age. He sighed heavily. "Don't worry, Emma. I'm a detective, remember? I'll help you find your mom."
