Content warnings (if required): I try not to reblog anything I perceive as hurtful to real human beings and I do attempt to tag with cw tags where it occurs to me there might be a need, but please note that I cannot and will not promise that my blogs are a "safe space" and adjust your expectations accordingly. Also, if anyone is concerned about age, I have been active in fannish spaces since 2009 and was a long way past minority even then.

Commission for @eilinelsghost ✨✨

Absolutely speechless over this!!! I haven't been able to get the image of Finrod floating beneath Ivrin from In These Holy Waters out of my head, and I am just blown away by how @rinthecap brought it to life here!

The way the light moves through the water, the way his hair looks like molten gold, the bubbles and the crags along the shore and the way he is completely at rest in the water...! I love everything about this 😍

A quick smile flashed across the water. Then his breath rushed in and he dropped without warning beneath the mere. “Nóm?” Balan peered after him, first in bewilderment and then in unease. He could see the figure hovering below him, only an arm’s length or two he guessed, but it gave no sign of rising. He held another moment, attempting to gauge the depth, then filled his own lungs and plunged after him. The cold pressed in at his ears as he heaved himself downwards. Nóm had not seemed far down, he calculated, the water thrumming around him, and his own descent was swift. He must have come nearly level with the other by now. His arms reached out through the current, slowing his motion, and he opened his eyes. It was pristine. Light flooded down from the noontide sun and pierced deep into the basin. He could see all the way to the shore, the crags where he had perched only a few minutes before shining crisp and vivid through the water. And there to his right—Nóm dazzling in the midst of it. A cloud of gold, his hair floating about him; his body suspended as though caught in glass with the shimmering light cascading along its facets.

Махтан

Mahtan

Феанор был женат на Нерданель, “дочери прославленного кузнеца Махтана, любимого ученика и помощника Аулэ. У него учился Феанор работе с металлом”. Толкиен “Сильмариллион”.

Feanor was married to Nerdanel, “the daughter of a great smith named Mahtan, among those of the Noldor most dear to Aulë; and of Mahtan he learned much of the making of things in metal and in stone”. Tolkien "Silmarillion".

Tolkien Tolkien Tolkien Tolkien i'm begging of you please don't kill my man

His beauty is beyond compare His stature tall, and long his hair Like every other man you wrote has been I know the more you speak his praise The fewer his remaining days How easily you break my heart, Tolkien

I think this song is made of lies Your fave's your fave because he dies Or 'cause his pain gets worse in every scene. If what it took to make us care Was fairness, wisdom and great hair We'd all be on here stanning Finarfin.

What slander found within these notes! I stan Finarfin, love him totes But in the text he largely stays unseen He lost his sons, his daughter banned He suffered plenty at Jirt's hand Death isn't the worst fate cast by Tolkien But Elrond and Finarfin show What we all here already know The chance of getting out alive is lean How many more were slain and lost Their tales compel, but there's a cost My love is true, it belongs to Tolkien Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien i'm begging of you please don't kill my man Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien An Andreth, Turin, Finrod, Beleg fan

I'm sorry if my rhymes have vexed For my part, when I read these texts I seek catharsis, not a tale serene My favorite story is the Fall Ironic deaths are best of all It might be that I need some medicine

Yet those of us who love the elves Have this poor comfort for ourselves, The afterlife for them is known and seen To their old house they just go back To friends and lovers they once lacked Only the living pity need, I ween
The suffering perhaps is worse the working of an awful curse the madness, anguish, maiming and the spleen we watch the world eviscerate turn love and beauty into hate and wish the misery remained unseen
Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien I'm begging of you please don't break my man Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien, Tolkien Don't make him wish for death, I know you can

Thranduilion Interactive "Letter Exchange" Game

Since I first encountered posts of people saying they "love" or "need" Character AI or other chatbot AI services because they're lonely or think it's fun to talk to their favorite fictional characters, I've been toying with the idea of starting one of those "interactive blogs". I think it could be fun to provide a chat game that will entertain/comfort and also prove that AI cannot emulate the heart of real writing.

I was a forum roleplayer for over 10 solid years (starting with LOTR actually), so I like to think (I hope??) I have some chops in this area.

That being said, I would need to narrow down the character scope to just Thranduil's family and the Greenwood Elves. Otherwise, it would be far too much for me to keep up with on top of everything else on this blog. I'm actually counting on interest/engagement to be very low, and low enough for me not to feel swamped.

Obviously I'm still new to this format and will need to figure out how it's properly done, as well as the rules, but there will not be a separate blog for this. I think activity would be low enough that I can throw it into the overall SotWK bag o' "stuff".

The process itself should be super simple:

Step One: Asker/Reader (Anon allowed) sends a "letter" or "note" to the chosen character via SotWK Ask Box. Could be one sentence, could be pages of prose.

Step Two: SotWK answers the letter in that chosen character's voice.

Characters that would be immediately available:

  • Elvenking Thranduil (as a father-figure, non-romantic)
  • Elvenqueen Maereth (as a mother-figure, non-romantic)
  • Crown Prince Mirion
  • Prince Turhir
  • Prince Arvellas
  • Prince Gelir
  • Prince Legolas
  • Feren, soldier of the kingsguard

Info about these characters can be found in my Headcanon Masterlist. I will definitely be writing and posting more if/when this "game" launches.

Here is a poll to get a general idea of overall interest:

Reblogs would be greatly appreciated to help spread the word and gather more input! :) Thank you!
