Hello!

A lot of people didn’t receive the e-mail I had sent out due to an issue with Gmail, so I’m posting it on here. The Little Prince zine had to be canceled because of my inability to balance outside/personal projects with my first semester of school.

Many people have already asked if they could share their work: You absolutely can! It is your work, please feel free to do whatever you wish with it.

I am sorry that I couldn’t be a better organizer - I had my own issues with this zine, ranging from my lack of time and motivation and all the way to struggling with my mental health and schoolwork.

The blog will be deleted later in January or February.

Hey guys!

I’d just like to apologize for being so slow with things - I’ve been so busy with AP portfolio work and general senior year things, so I’ve been incredibly behind with replying to e-mails. I’m going to try knocking them out tomorrow!

Hello! Are you going to make a masterpost of all the artists that got accepted? :D

Eventually! I’m trying to get through with school work and AP testing first, so I haven’t had the time. :’(

Sorry if this was asked before, but does there have to be a background? As in, absolutely no white allowed or can there be some white, but not completely white bg?

Hi!

A lack of background is totally alright so long as the piece itself works well with a white background (For example, many of Norman Rockwell’s work lacks a background!).

E-mail failures!

Hello!

I sent out all e-mails today. There were a few that did not quite make it through, however. So, if you did not receive an e-mail, please let me know so I can send you the details of the zine. Thank you!

Hi there! I am interested to apply for this, though I am a little confused about the application. Is it required to draw first with the prompt about the little prince's visit before earth, then afterwards, new artwork is needed once applications are closed and artists are chosen? Thank you

Hi! I am so sorry I only replied to this now! I only required examples of work of the artist. There will be additional deadlines for actual pieces to be included in the zine! :)(And I've told this to a few people, but the form won't be closed until this evening, so if anyone still wants to sneak an application in, I'll pretend not to know! ;) )

Hey guys! It’s finally ready to go!

The beloved short story The Little Prince has been celebrated by so many, and as a fun little project, I’ve decided to organize a zine dedicated to it!

Flock of Wild Birds is a visual and written zine dedicated to the Little Prince’s travels prior to his arrival to Earth. The project will be looking for at least 50 contributors - 40 artists and 10 authors, however as of right now there is NO LIMIT! The zine will be published on Gumroad as a FREE DIGITAL ZINE for everyone to enjoy!

If you’d like to apply to the zine…

Please refer to the APPLICATION page! There are three different forms, each with their own specifications:                         - INDIVIDUAL visual works                         - INDIVIDUAL written works                         - COLLABORATED visual & written works.

If you have a question, feel free to ask! You can also send an e-mail to thelittleprincezine@gmail.com.

I’ll be accepting applications until APRIL 16, 2016.

Thanks!

Only a few more days to apply!

Since it's titled Flock of Wild Birds, does that mean we can only draw the prince and the birds? I'm sorry, I'm just making sure.

Not at all!

The focus of the zine is to illustrate the Prince’s journey prior to his arrival to Earth. The title is derived from the quote, “I believe for his escape he took advantage of a flock of wild birds,” as it is how he went from one planet to another.

Hello! Id love to apply as an artist but i was wondering if youd prefer a certain style the zine to be in? Like all the drawings to be in a limited color palette or drawn in a realistic instead of simple style? Thank you!

There’s no preferred style! Everyone is welcome to apply to the zine regardless of their drawing style. :)

Hi, I'm just wondering, for the submissions for Flock of Wilds Birds, are we allowed only one initial submission in one category or are we allowed multiple submissions (two written submissions for example)

Avatar

Hi! Only one submission per category. The only way a contributor may submit two things is if they are both accepted and willing to contribute as a writer and as an artist ( which is to say, the two things cannot be a comic as the comic would count as one submission, if that makes sense! )

Hello, travelers!

Due to a large interest in the Prince’s adventures on Earth, the prompt may be changed. More details will come along once I’ve selected the artists to contribute to the zine. Thank you again for your patience, and remember, you only have until April 16 to apply! I will close the form after that. Thank you!

Hi there! I noticed that the information post said that applications are due in April, but I'm wondering if you roughly know when you're setting a deadline for actual entries to the zine? April is a busy time, so I was hoping it would be set sometime further in the future. Thank you!!

Hi! Deadlines will be around the end of May, though there's no set deadline yet at this point in time. At the same time, I'm also fairly lenient and will allow for extensions as I see fit after the initial deadline has passed. - @jillydre

May we submit a previously produced work? I've a drawing I made a little while ago that I like very much, but received hardly any attention when I posted it, may I submit it for the zine?

Of course! You’re the contributor; You get to decide what piece goes in the zine. As long as it follows the requirements for the zine, I see absolutely no reason to deny it. :^)
