My friends and I have a yearly tradition of getting together and watching an old film while playing various drinking games, and given the resurgence I thought I'd share the one we used for Goncharov!
- Take a sip every time there is a clock in the scene, or a meaningful shot of a watch or the clocktower (a character wearing one or standing near the tower doesn’t count, the blood spattered face of a stopped watch does). When a clock strikes, take a sip for each chime.
- Take a sip everyone someone references their terrible relationship with their father or take two sips if Andrey interacts with his father (there are no good interactions here).
- Take a sip every time someone lights a cigarette, two if they light someone elses.
- Take a sip every time Goncharov and Andrey say something INCREDIBLY homoerotic (i.e. would have been arrested for at the time) in front of a background character.
- Take a sip for every lingering touch between Sofia and Katya, finish your drink for the necklace scene.
- Take two sips for every betrayal, or three for every time Goncharov specifically is betrayed.
- Finish your drink every time a main character dies.
- Bonus if you don’t value your liver: take a shot for every gun.

Goncharov Lore Thus Far, based on the top tumblr post results
- Main cast are Goncharov himself, his wife Katya (née Michailov), and Andrey
- One side character is named Mario Ambrosini. He is described as a “sad boi” and is involved in gambling.
- Set in Naples and involving a drug ring/mafia. The plot seems to involve Russian organized crime attempting to get a foothold in Italy.
- There is a Boat Scene. Katya survives via resourcefulness.
- Andrey and Goncharov have a substantial amount of homoeroticism. Andrey also has an internet in Katya. This forms a true love triangle.
- At some point, Katya threatens to shoot Goncharov. This is framed as a Girlboss Moment.
- There is also a Beer Bottle Scene.
- Katya fakes her death.
- heavy clock symbolism. A pivotal scene occurs at a clock tower, there is a grandfather clock in the background of some sets, etc
- A supporting female character named Sofia makes an appearance, wearing a cocktail dress. Katya protects her at some point. They’re both in the Boat Scene. At one point they buy fruit together in a marketplace. This is lesbian shipping fuel.
- The villain, likely Mario, has a sidekick named Icepick Joe. Joe commits a final act of heroism before being left for dead— after being killed by an Icepick. Perhaps he turned against Mario and was killed in retaliation?
- Goncharov, played by DeNiro, has a very distinctive manner of walking.
- Katya’s brother, Valery, makes an appearance.
from posts I’ve witnessed (only mentioning things I’ve seen >5 blogs post about) - there is an Anchovies scene, and fish symbolism also plays a heavy role. at some point Katya is seen near a fish bowl full of goldfish, and this is important to the Boat Scene as well. - Goncharov and Andrey have homoerotic tension, and this is used to further statements about the cycle of repression and violence
- The story involves Goncharov losing himself in a downward spiral. It is a tragedy of unbecoming.
- There’s a Bridge Scene. This is the one with the clocktower chiming in the background.
- There’s a scene involving a tank of anchovies.
- Icepick Joe has a traumatic backstory
- Katya betrays Goncharov AND Sofia. She’s well-intentioned, but it all comes crashing down, ending in her losing them both— losing Sofia emotionally and inadvertently causing Goncharov’s death
- There’s a shootout in Pompeii in which Mario destroys historically significant architecture. This is representative of the destructive nature of nationalism.

Affectionately nicknamed "King", this male specimen of Megaloedax decepta, the Great Florida Siren, was captured as a hatchling by water survey teams in the late 50s. Initially his captivity was intended for a particular study on the development of the species in magic-poor conditions, but due to the difficulty, danger, and fraught history of working with sirenkind, ended up as a model for further research. He also ended up somewhat of a mascot for the department, and for the first two years of his life was kept in a 50 gallon aquarium in a university classroom where he was fed mostly rats, mice, frogs, and eventually larger fish and mammals once attaining a greater size. This diet did not include any of the fairies that sirens would naturally prey upon, and as a result King essentially has a severe metabolic disorder that has left ailed to develop any magic abilities and senses normally found in his kind: he has no ability to glamor, nor can he detect or manipulate the magical fields that add an essential dimension to natural communication between sirens, essentially leaving him without an entire sense.

He is unfortunately also sexually imprinted on humans, though he does not seem to display a preference for any particular sex, so much as a fondness for individuals of taller stature and heavier build, with a noticeable preference for dark and silky clothing. When allowed to express romantic intent, he will do so by stockpiling dead or severely wounded animals in a secluded place, and attempting to lure his selected mate to his larder, as is standard for siren courtship. This behavior was initially discovered a few years after he was granted the ability to freely roam facility grounds, due to being too large to properly contain, in an incident wherein he selected a storage room to fill with roughly 37 dead birds (chickens, ducks, geese, one peacock), 15 cats, 3 dogs, and one goat, all of which he appearantly smuggled into the building in his stomach, regurgitated, and carefully arranged before being eventually being discovered by a female staffer, who was neither pleased by the smell nor interested in breeding with him.
The incident does illustrate an example of an inate behavior which was not learned, however. However, many aspects of siren social conduct and behavior are acquired via interactions between conspecifics, and King, having never met a "wild" individual of his kind, is essentially devoid of critical social skills that would allow him to successfully navigate peaceful interactions with his own kind.
Despite this his stunted condition, most of the research on sirens that is known is based on studies conducted on King or similar "tamed" sirens. There is a belief among some researchers that these sirens which have been human socialized represent hope for the possibility of aclimating a predatory "pariah" species to a civilized way of life. King, for example, can read fluently and speak eloquently, and and is an obedient and polite personality despite his quirks.
