  • ἀστέρων πάντων ὀ κάλλιστος (of all the stars, the fairest)

  • τὰν ἰόκολπον (violet-tressed, one with violets in her lap)
  • ὦ κάλα, ὦ χαρίεσσα κόρα (o beautiful, graceful girl)
  • ἦρος ἄγγελος ἰμερόφωνος ἀήδων (nightingale, sweet-voiced messenger of spring)

I’m not about to call Lucy a bad mother, because I honestly don’t think she is. This is just one, little thing. I’ve always felt a bit iffy in regards to her attitude towards Sam in the film, where Max is involved. The fact that she never really has a proper talk with Sam, herself, about why he makes the claims he does about Max. Yes, what he is saying sounds ridiculous, but you would have to wonder what would prompt a kid Sam’s age to make such claims. If she couldn’t find any other reason but the literal for his vampire talk, at least she would have tried. Sam never gives an indication that his father was even in his mind (which is what Max suggested to shut him down) so then, there would have to be some other reason. And with Michael behaving the way he was, you would think that she would withdraw her focus from Max a little bit. It was not unreasonable for Lucy to want to start dating, again, but the fact that she seems to trust Max, a man she barely knows, over her own son really rubs me the wrong way. She has a more in depth talk with him about Sam’s vampire story than she does with Sam, himself.

I mean, ultimately it was Grandpa’s fault for not opening his trap sooner. He wouldn’t even have had to have said the word “vampire”. “Something, something criminal record, something, something.” Would have done just fine. Dinner with Max would have been out of the question, after that.

Libraries are one of the few remaining public goods that haven’t been completely privatized and profitized. Libraries are virtually free to the public, regardless of race, class, gender, religion or sexual orientation. And it needs to stay that way. Capitalists need to keep their dirty, grubby little HANDS OFF libraries.

idk i just really really like the lost boys bc at their core that’s just what they are. they’re just boys that have been sucked into this crazy world of vampirism but when it comes down to it they just want to have fun like every other teenager out there
