Life lessons different Harry Potter characters have taught me:

Harry James Potter taught me to always look for the best in people and to try to be forgiving and kind to others.

He taught me to show empathy to others and that hard work pays off.

Severus Snape taught me that it doesn‘t matter what you look like on the outside. What matters is your character. He taught me that loyalty is one of the greatest values and that true love is everlasting.

He taught me to be confident in myself and my abilities and to be ambitious in all i do.

He taught me the meaning of resiliance, bravery and sacrifice.

Albus Dumbledore taught me that you should always remember to turn on a light even in the darkest of times.

He and Lily Potter taught me that love is the strongest and most powerful feeling in the world.

It‘s the most powerful form of magic.

Luna Lovegood and Nymphadora Tonks taught me to always be myself, even when others shun me for it. There is no shame in being who you are. Don‘t let others dim your light;)

Remus Lupin taught me to be patient and to try to give my knowledge to the next generation. He taught me that my illness doesn‘t define me.

Hermione Granger taught me the importance of knowledge in life or death situations- and to always be eager to learn and aquire new skills.

Ron Weasly taught me that a true friend is oftentimes hard to find but never replacable.

He taught me the value of friendship.

Minerva McGonnagal taught me that‘s important to be organized and disciplined in all i do. She taught me the importance of taking responsibility for my own actions.

Neville Longbottom taught me that i can decide on the direction my life takes and how important it is to stand up for myself. Neville taught me that even those of us who started small can become a great human being. He taught me the meaning of true bravery.

Rubeus Hagrid taught me that all life is valuable. And therefore you should always try to be kind to every living creature. No matter how small or insignificant they seem.

Hedwig taught me that friendship can take many forms and she and Dobby taught me that the smallest beings can be the most loyal.

Fred and George Weasly taught me to believe in my dreams and always try to put a smile on other peoples faces. They taught me the importance of humour in my life.

Ginny Weasly taught me that there is no shame in being a woman.

True strength comes from the inside.

And the fire inside you can never be extinguished.

Thinking about Snape’s patronus being a doe.

Thinking about how Snape’s patronus was not another stag to compete for the doe’s affection. It was another doe, a fellow doe.

Thinking about how Snape’s patronus might have been something else before. A bat maybe? But it changed to a doe.

Thinking about how Snape loved Lily. Probably at one point it was infatuation, a crush. Do we have to limit it to just unrequited love though? The platonic love wasn’t unrequited. I don’t think Lily stopped thinking of Severus as a friend, even to her dying breath. Childhood best friends just don’t leave you like that.

Thinking about Severus Snape promising to be Dumbledore’s right hand man. Thinking about Severus Snape at his first Order meeting, sitting awkwardly alone, apart from everyone. No one in his life ever showed him how to be good. Except one person.

Thinking about Severus Snape trying to emulate Lily Evans as he tried to choose the right. Trying to remember the way she stood up for what she believed in. Failing over and over and over again. Making snide remarks, throwing out slurs, physically harming those he disagreed with. Every time with Lily’s voice in the back of his head, reprimanding him. Knowing he could never do right by her. But always trying again. Always.

Thinking about Severus Snape realizing slowly and all at once how wrong his youthful ideas about muggles and wizards had been. How stupid he was for believing them in the first place. Wishing he could go back, choose better, try again. Knowing he can’t. Remembering Lily. Working harder to fix things. Still failing in the little ways that make all the difference.

Thinking about Severus Snape, a decade into his service, casting a patronus, expecting to see his little bat, and seeing her. Well, not her, but her patronus. A doe. His patronus. A doe.

Thinking about how Severus Snape’s patronus is a doe because he worked to become the friend he betrayed. To pay back his debt, to make things right however he could. To protect her son. Her son who he hated because he was the exact replica of Severus’ own childhood bully. But still her son. Her eyes. He had to protect her eyes, the eyes that were still watching, still disapproving.

“Look. At. Me.”

The tragedy of Severus Snape

The reason why Severus Snape is the most tragic character in the Harry Potter series

Snape‘s character isn‘t so tragic because he didn‘t „get“ Lily.

His character is so tragic because he was doomed from the very beginning.

It‘s so tragic, because he was hit by his drunk father.

It‘s so tragic because he was neglected by his mother.

It‘s tragic because he was separated by his childhood friend by being sorted into a house where you couldn‘t survive as a halfblood if you didn‘t adapt to the social rules of said house and joining a hateful cult.

He is a tragic character because he is bullied from day one and sexually harrassed in front of the other students.

His loss of Lily is so tragic, because she was the only friend he ever had.

It‘s so tragic because she was the only person in his life to show him understanding and kindness, warmth and love.

The love of a friend.

It‘s so tragic because noone ever showed him love again after Lily.

It is so tragic because he is silenced over the werewolf incident and forbidden from telling anyone he was almost murdered.

It‘s so tragic because he has to see his almost murderers and bullies get away with it without any form of punishment.

He is silenced.

It‘s tragic because he has to watch the love of his life marry his childhood tormentor.

It‘s tragic because he has to kill one of the only people he ever cared about. The only person who knows about his true loyalties.

It‘s so tragic because he dies believing the world will always believe him to be the villain.

A traitor and the murderer of Dumbledore.

He dies thinking that the truth about his loyalty will die with him and Harry.

It‘s so tragic because the only other person in his life to show him kindness(, when he stays with him while he dies,)is the son of the love of his life who he lost.

It is so tragic, because he dies in the belief that he has doomed this boy, the boy he always protected.

He dies in the belief that all of it was in vain.

He dies thinking that all of it was for nothing.

He dies believing that he is sending Harry who he tried to protect all these years to his death.

His death is so tragic because of all of the above reasons and also because he is murdered in cold blood.

He is killed slowly. He is terrified. He knows what‘s coming and that he can‘t safe himself.

He is killed by the person he fears the most.

His death must have been unbearably painful and agonizing.

He must have been in so much pain.

It’s so tragic because he never had a chance.

Snapes character is so unbelievably tragic because he was never intended to have a happy ending.

It‘s so tragic because his whole life was nothing but a tragedy.

Sirius holding himself accountable after a long and painful realization that Harry is just like Snape and Snape too was just a child without a family who cared for him is my biggest headcannon I think.

It starts with Sirius teaching Harry how to look good for the girls and he comments How greasy and a mess his hair is, turns out he never was able to shower at his aunt and uncles so he didn’t develop a good habit of it. Severus tells him that all that matters now is that he is learning.

Harry doesn’t speak unless directly spoken to, Sirius asks him why, “I’m not used to attention so I tend to stay quiet, scared I’ll get in trouble still if I make too much noise.” Severus feels a sting in his chest. “You’ll get in trouble if you don’t talk here.” He says after the meeting is over.

Harry lashes out, Sirius can’t understand and asks him why, “If you were trapped in a home where you weren’t cared for, but then suddenly everyone made this assumption of you (being a hero), you’d lash out too” Severus tells Harry off, to not lash out at one’s who are there for him and care for him. That he should throw away the only family he has left that actually cares for him. He even makes him apologize to Sirius.

Sirius pokes fun at Harry for studying for school still when preparing for war, Harry tells him he wants to make sure he gets a good job so that people like Sirius won’t be wrongly accused. Severus tells him that killing the dark lord will be more than enough on a resume, but more would help.

Harry knows he’s similar to Snape, hated it at first, but accepted it and was happy about it. Because someone understood him for the first time truthfully about being a weapon and not a person in so many peoples eyes. Severus loathes it, fearful he will turn out like him. He’s happy to see he isn’t.

Sirius meets with Snape alone, doesn’t cry, he spent the night before crying all his tears out, and he apologizes and owns up to everything. He tells him that he doesn’t expect forgiveness, but wishes in the next life he would know better. Snape tells him in the next life they might be friends.

The next life didn’t come. Forever repeating the cycle.

I am slowly losing my mind over the shift towards video as the default media format.

I do not find this to be an efficient way to absorb information. I am bored and distracted by the time the largely unnecessary introduction is over. I can't use ctrl+f to find the specific information I'm looking for. If there are instructions to follow, I don't want to have to constantly pause and back up to the part I need.

At least give me a fucking transcript.

I can read faster than you can talk and these videos are wasting my time.

reader’s pronouns are unspecified.

relationships (separate & platonic): Severus Snape & reader, Filius Flitwick & reader, Minerva McGonagall & reader, Pomona Sprout & reader

author’s note: y’all i’m.. idk. i have no idea how i got this idea but the moment i thought of it, i couldn’t get it out of my mind. I absolutely adore the hogwarts profs,,,, sigh. i’m pathetic, i know.

severus and filius’s parts are from your point of view. minerva and pomona’s parts are from their point of view. :)

warnings: snape’s part is about you coping with the aftermath of a detention with umbridge, so there are brief mentions of the scarring on your hand (from the blood quill). in general, there’s also fainting and general exhaustion. other than that, this fic is fluffy.

Severus Snape as a parent headcanons

  • At first, he was terrified, worried, and panicking due to his past with his parents and was afraid he would hurt his own child like his dad did to him or neglect them like his mother (unintentionally).
  • As soon as he saw his child, he fell completely in love. He was still scared, but all he wanted to do in that moment was protect and love them until his last breathe
  • He made a vow that he would be better than his own father and try to give his child everything he ever had.
  • He would prepare for every possible scenario (fevers, teething, diseases, baby proofing, medicine, etc)
  • He would expel any and every sign of alcohol (except if it's for disinfecting) from his home
  • He would buy the child bunches of toys since he never had any growing up.
  • He would've had an endless supply of diapers when the child was a baby (I do mean ENDLESS)
  • The people in Severus's life who know about his child are the Malfoys, Charity, and her wife Aurora (they are married) and Minerva McGonagall (who would tell Dumbledore so he knows as well)
  • The child would have black hair, black eyes, and pale skin like Severus. Their nose is smaller than Severus's nose which he is grateful for.
  • As soon as everyone saw the child, they immediately fell in love.
  • I think Severus would name Narcissa and Lucius as godparents (mostly because Narcissa kept pestering Severus about it and she would use the godfather card), and they spoil the child rotten along with Aurora and Charity
  • Minerva loves the child and helps Severus out when she can. She also becomes a grandmother figure and a mother figure to Severus and the child
  • Severus makes sure the child is not spoiled a lot by the Malfoys, so the child won't be a spoiled brat.
  • Severus is very overprotective and always keeps an eye on them. He constantly worries about them and is always vigilante of his surroundings, especially with his child
  • He educates them about both the wizarding world and the muggle world.
  • He cooks for them, he's a master chef.
  • He also teaches them potions
  • He teaches them about gardening and uses his magic to entertain them sometimes (he loves seeing his child smile)
  • He takes them to the park and they have fun.
  • He plays with them and sets up play dates with his child and Draco along with Aurora and Charity's child.
  • Minerva loves babysitting the child, and both she and severus make sure the child is ahead of their studies and not slacking
  • The child is either in Ravenclaw or Slytherin.
  • Severus always keeps the dark wizards away from his family with the Malfoys help of course.
  • When the child first did accidental magic, they made flowers grow from their hands and hair and made things levitate.
  • The child would be just as protective of their dad as Severus is of his child.
  • Draco and Severus's child are practically siblings
  • I feel like Regulus would be afraid of the child, but shortly after, fall in love with them (similar to Draco)
  • Narcissa treats Severus's child as her own along with Lucius.
  • Severus is strict, but he is reasonable with his child.
  • He also taught them how to dance along with Draco and Charity and Aurora's child.
  • He does not trust Bellatrix to be alone with his child
  • If he adopted Harry, his child and Harry would be siblings as well.
  • If Tobias was still alive at this time. Severus is keeping his child FAR AWAY FROM THAT MAN (HE HAS NO RIGHT TO COME ANYWHERE NEAR HIS CHILD)
  • Severus moved away from Cokeworth with Lucius, Narcissa, Charity, Aurora, and McGonagalls help, and he lives in a small flat with enough room for him and his child

I feel like he would have the child before the death eaters, but that's just me. I also feel like he would want to change his last name to his mother's maiden name or whoever the mother of the child's name is because of Tobias

What about you guys? Do you think he would've had a child before or after he became a death eater? What would happen if he saw Lily at the park or on the street with Harry? Would this be before or after Voldemort died? What happens if he sees one of the marauders with his child? Would he be teaching?

I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know what you all think
