A while back I started on making my assets for a Ghost Hunt game using RPG Maker. However, I had no story so this just fell on the wayside. Just wanted to share. There really isn’t much though, but working on the sprites was tough! The style is different than what I do usually; I was trying to copy the style of the RPG Maker default characters.

not to be a biden sucker bc i do truly hate him but i will say that free preschool will help out SO many families. and only 2 years of college is a pussy move but also pls dont shit on community college? a LOT of ppl go to community colleges for their first year or two to knock out gen ed requirements. so like. yes this still sucks bc it is not everything that we need but also its not an entirely lost move. i do still hate the way he (or his social media team ig lol) worded this though. nasty
I really need people to understand that childcare/early childhood education is fucking EXPENSIVE. Before you go off to free public school kindergarten, parents have to put their kids SOMEWHERE for 4-5 years when they go to work, and that means daycare and preschool, which are all insanely expensive in the US—preschool costs an average of $760 per month (more than $9000 a year!) (source). It’s either that, or one parent has to sacrifice full-time income to take care of the kids (like my parents did). And some parents cannot afford to sacrifice that extra income. I don’t blame people for not really having the perspective on why this is important, because I didn’t either at first, but when my parents heard this from Biden, they were literally like “wow do you have any idea how much your preschool cost?? this would’ve been such a big deal for us.”
And I haven’t even started on the importance of early enrichment, particularly for children in low income situations who normally can’t access consistent, educational resources at an early age.
Yeah, the community college is not enough — but it is better than nothing and if you normalize some free education then it’ll make it easier to get to full free college. We should’t HAVE to take baby steps to get there but i’d rather take those baby steps than be all or nothing, because in Congress, that usually means you get nothing
And many community colleges have deals with four year colleges that smooth out the entry and transition to four years in a way that will help so many first generation college students.
This will also generally help with the cost of college tuition at standard 4 year schools as well. If a student can basically get 2 years of school free, then universities can't justify charging outrageous amounts of money for tuition. They will have no choice but to drop tuition rates to compete with free if they want freshman and sophomore students. The cost of room and board will likely drop as well, considering the largest percent of college students paying for room and board are freshman and sophomores.

One year, Naru goes back to England for Christmas to spend time with his parents. Jokingly, Mai asks him to bring back gifts. And to her surprise, when he returns to Japan, he does have something for her.
“What? Seriously?!”
“Yes.” He puts a Chocolate Orange on his desk.
Mai stares at the packaging. “Is that…chocolate?”
“Yes. A Chocolate Orange.”
“…I don’t know what that is, but it sounds yummy! Thanks, Naru!!” She takes it and cheerfully leaves his office.
Naru sighs at how easily pleased she is and gets back to work.
But five minutes later, Mai comes back. “Naruuuu, how do I eat this?” In her hands, she has the Chocolate Orange partially unwrapped, with the pieces still all stuck together.
“You didn’t whack it?”
“I didn’t what?”
He sighs. “Give it here.”
Mai hands it over. Naru wraps it back up. Then slams it on his desk.
“EEP!” Mai jumps in surprise.
“There.” He hands it back to her, cool as a cucumber.
“Th-Thanks…?” Flustered and confused, Mai leaves his office with the Chocolate Orange, wondering if something bad happened in his past involving chocolate to provoke such a violent reaction.

Depending on the success of this interest check, I will possibly have a design dropped by the end of the year (if not sooner, depending on work load and university.)

It just seemed to explode overnight, people tweeting about Naru being convinced that he and Mai are dating, only to find out that Mai has another boyfriend. Variations include him having to look after her child (“Oh nooo it’s turning into Harry Potter”) and having to attend both her wedding & funeral. Right now it’s just a collection of tweets, but people are starting to turn them into proper fics. It was pretty fascinating to watch happen. 😅
Oh no poor poor Naru…. But that’s actually more in line with the way I understand their dynamic now. I used to be in the ‘Naru rejected Mai gang >=[ ’ but I just can’t see it that way anymore. In a strange way, I just find Naru too naive to reject someone who is arguably one of the closest to him after Gene died, and Mai, likewise, is too naive that she WOULD unknowingly reject him.
I imagine Naru doesn’t really think much of anniversaries but he kind of holds back his disdain for her sake and try to celebrate it with her in his own way or sth. So figures he should at least show appreciation for Mai and he brings her food for work for their “anniversary” (they aren’t actually a thing, he just thought they were) and Mai is just like “ok Naru I finished all my chores and will take the rest of the day off. i actually have a date tonight!” And naru’s like, “what, did we decide on anything?” And mai’s like ???? Dbskabdhahdvd. But i mean, instead of angst hopefully it’s more humorous.
Better yet, Nau is like... Okay. I didn't realize we have an open relationship, but if that's what you want, that's fine. Actually, that might work better since I don't have this physical contact thing down.
Busted out my watercolors, which I haven't used in seven years or something... Been watching too much of Heikala's watercolo/colored ink videos lately. I realized I'm really not patient enough for watercolor... Gotta work on that.
