Arcane bond headcanon, the bond of each marked looks different and has different ‘sideeffects’. Daud’s bonded have extensive tattoos (Thomas here has the most) that will glow if they use their mark. The more powerful a skill they use, the more of the tattoo lights up.

Each Whaler has an individual pattern, only the Outsiders symbol on the left hand is consistent.

As the original mark is ‘written’ by the Outsider, it’s made in his handwriting. The arcane bond does not come from the Outsider and therefore is stylised after the marked who distributes it.
