The breath in Thomas’s lungs caught in his chest the moment Alex first stepped in the room. 

This was not an adventure he had planned to take, despite his sister’s insufferable badgering about his increasing age. And yet, there was not one moment of his life he would change because his journey led him to this spot in time, right here. Right now. With Alex walking toward him.

After spending a lifetime perfecting his disapproving scowl he feared the smile spread across his face may never leave. The butterflies in his stomach fluttered freely giving birth to goosebumps that erupted across his arms. It was all he could do to stand there. Stand there and wait for what seemed to be an eternity. Thomas imagined it was like approaching a black hole, the closer she got, the slower time moved. If it wasn’t for his heart beating out of his chest, he might not mind if this moment stretched forever. 

Finally, as Alex slipped her hands in his, the breath he had been holding escaped softly as Thomas mouthed, “I love you.” 

She didn’t need to say it back, the tears shimmering in her eyes answered for her. She was absolutely breath-taking, a vision in white, which just might be his new favorite color. 

It was all Thomas could do to stand there and not take her into his arms. They would have the rest of their lives for that, for now, he had to wait on the minister who he realized he should probably be listening to as he began “Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today…”

A/N I can’t resist seeing these two with their daughter, Kathleen. In this short, she is around four or five years old. Since she is sweet, this prompt was meant for her.

Three weeks before Christmas…

“That’s enough padding.” Thomas grunted when Amanda stuffed another pillow in his waistband.

“I told you to eat more during Thanksgiving.” She teased.

He shook his head at her humor. “Why am I chosen each year for this?”

“Because you remember what all the children ask for. We don’t want another Christmas like when Matt played Santa.” She laughed softly. “I’ve never seen such a panic when he couldn’t recall what anyone wanted except Emerick.”

It came as no surprise to any of Amanda’s friends that she instantly clicked with Thomas when they were first introduced. Once his friends got to know her, they knew why the two could easily spend hours talking. Their shared love for films and the history of cinema had forged a bond that became a close friendship.

What did surprise everyone was that the two had yet to cross over that friendship boundary into romance. It seemed obvious to even the average observer that there was bound to be something more heartfelt involved between the pair.

“Stop it,” Tiffani slapped Raleigh’s hand away from her hip while he pressed her against a corner of the elevator with his body.

“Oh, come on! No one is here. I’m just giving you what you want,” he whispers, nibbling her earlobe.

“I wanted you to hug me because I was cold and I missed you, Raleigh. I didn’t want you to get into my pants when there’s a possibility of someone watching,” she nodded towards the security cameras of the elevator.

“Would you be okay with sex in here when we arrive from the studio? It’ll be pretty late and only one guard will be watching,” he smirked.

“Come on,” Alex jumped up and grabbed Thomas’s hand, practically pulling him after her.

“Where are we going?” Thomas complained.

Alex ran outside and stood in the middle of her mother’s front yard. She tipped her face toward the sky and let the soft snowflakes fall on her cheeks. “It’s snowing,” Alex reported proudly.

“Yes. I can see that,” Thomas expressed. “I imagine it would still be snowing even if we didn’t run out here like a couple of children without proper shoes or jackets.”

Alex laughed quietly to herself and moved closer toward Thomas. She wrapped her arms around him. “What do I need a jacket for if I have you?”

Thomas rolled his eyes lightly as he snaked his arms around her as well.

“Now… stick out your tongue and catch some snowflakes!” Alex directed cheerfully as she followed her own advice. “It’s the best part!”

Thomas held her in his arms watching the wonder in her eyes as the shimmering snowflakes fell softly around them. He was quite sure this was the best part.

A single snowflake fell on Alex’s nose. Before it could melt, Thomas brought his lips to her skin and kissed the snowflake away. “Got one!”

“Switch?” Alex offered. Thomas took Vincent from her arms and Alex took Felicity from his. They planted a string of kisses on their twins who continued to squirm for release. 

“Think they’ve had enough?” Thomas questioned.

“One more!” Alex kissed her daughter on the top of her head. “Okay go!”

Thomas and Alex released their children who ran quickly toward the giant Christmas tree and the sea of presents. 

“Woah!” Felicity’s eyes grew wide as she noticed a trail of footprints from the fireplace to the tree and back! “Look, Vincent!”

“Come here, Felicity,” Vincent called. “The reindeers ate all the carrots we left!” 

Felicity ran to her brother to see the bits of carrot crumbs left on the dish. “They must have been really hungry!”

“Maybe we should leave more next year,” Vincent offered. 

Felicity nodded. “Good idea!”

Thomas wrapped his arms around Alex’s waist as they watched their twins run around and analyze the scene. “Merry Christmas.”

Alex leaned into him nuzzling her head in the crook of his neck mesmerized by the joy of her family around her. It was the best present she could have ever asked for.

Kai opens the door to Damien’s apartment carrying two large bags with her, puts them on the coffee table as she leans down to kiss his cheek. “Okay, I bought everything we need to wrap all these presents: Plain wrapping papers, girly ones, Christmas ones, a few scissors to make decorative edges, satin ribbons, gift wrap bags, scotch tape, and gift wrap tape.”

“Wow, I’m tired from just from listening to you list all these things,” he retorts.

This was amazing! Kai is definitely a pro gift wrapper who indulges in ribbons, bows and all different kinds of paper. Damien barely managing to get it right was so hilarious and cute.

“What are you thinking about?” Hunt held Alex in his arms as they laid in bed listening to the sounds of cheer coming from Chris Winter’s holiday party outside the window. 

“Just how lucky I am to be spending Christmas Eve with you,” Alex pulled the sheet tighter around herself as she curled into the warmth of Hunt’s bare chest. “I didn’t think there would be any way for us to be together tonight. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” 

“I didn’t know I was coming,” Hunt brushed her hair to the side and pressed a lingering kiss on her neck. “I wasn’t planning on it, but I wanted to see you, even if it was from across the party.” 

Alex propped herself up on her elbows and brought her lips to his. Her tongue entered his mouth, dancing lightly with his. Her teeth grazed his lower lip as she pulled away having been distracted by her phone ringing for the fourth time in the last ten minutes. 

“UGH!” Alex groaned turning to silence the device. 

“Miss Sinclair again?” Hunt questioned. Alex nodded. “You should go. Your friends are clearly missing you. At least we were able to steal away some time together.”  

Alex rested her head once more on his chest. “I just wish we didn’t have to hide, then you could just come with me.”

“You know we can’t…. You should go,” Hunt repeated. 

“Two more minutes?” Alex begged. 

“Okay, two minutes,” Hunt agreed, holding her close and breathing in her scent. 

When her two minutes were up, Alex reluctantly got dressed and readied to return to the party.

“What will you do?” Alex questioned as Hunt helped her with the zipper on her dress. His fingers lingered on her back. 

“I’ll probably head back,” Hunt admitted. “I already got my Christmas wish.”

“Is that so?” Alex pressed turning into him. “And what might that be?”

“Are you going to make me say it?” Hunt glared at her lightly. Her unrelenting stare gave him the answer. He sighed softly resigning himself to her will. “You, clearly my wish is you!”

“Who knew you were such a romantic, Professor,” Alex teased as she wrapped her arms around his neck bringing her lips to his one last time. “Good thing you were my wish too!” 

Hunt pulled her in kissing her slowly and deeply memorizing every part of her. As they parted he placed one final kiss on her forehead. “Merry Christmas, Alex.”

“Merry Christmas, Professor,” Alex smiled as drifted back into the sea of guests at the party.

The sweet smell of molasses cookies still lingered throughout the house from their baking earlier in the day. Alex sang cheerfully along to the Christmas music playing in the background as she wrapped the last of the presents. 

She couldn’t believe that it was almost Christmas. She surveyed the room mesmerized by all the lights and decorations. The only thing that could make it better was snow. Alex loved living in L.A., but that didn’t mean she didn’t miss the winters back home. At least she and Thomas would be visiting her parents next week. 

A sly grin spread across her face as she started to clean up the wrapping paper. She bit her lip as she listened for Thomas. Alex didn’t hear anything so he must still be in his study.

Based on the prompt: Choices December Challenge Day Twenty (Decorations) / Winter Prompts #3

A random Christmas pop video plays on TV while Logan and Carla finish their grilled cheese and drink hot cocoa. On their last night before Carla returns to Los Angeles for the holidays, they decided to spend the entire day together, but instead of going to the movies and having dinner at a bistro as they planned, Logan changed his mind about going out. She found it odd, since it was his idea and he already had bought the tickets and made the reservations, but didn’t protest when she arrived at the loft and spotted him at the kitchen preparing their sandwichs with some of her favorite cheese. All that matters is spending time with him before traveling back home.
