At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.

You must unlearn this.

You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.

If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.

you have seen, many times, the phrase love your body! and every time, like rainwater, it glides off you. not because you cannot love it - you mostly, like, tolerate it - but because of the word "your".

is this your body? when you were 11 you had to start shaving your legs because other girls found it gross you were hairy. when you were 12, you had to stop wearing v-necks because of your chest - people were staring. your mother didn't let you dye your hair. your first boyfriend makes you dress up in skimpy clothes for him, then hated when other people coveted you. what you wear and how you present determine whether or not people find you funny or annoying or arrogant. other people get to determine if you are pretty, a court of opinion so loud it blots any good intent.

when is the body yours? magazines and instagram and tiktok endlessly advising you to "take care of" (starve) your body as if it is a weed. you must hack and slash at it, defend yourself from its wanton desires. it is a shameful, greedy thing. it is more like an art piece. you are keeping it or being kept-in-it.

you try to language it to your therapist - it's not that you don't recognize yourself in the mirror, it's more just that the thing that is in the mirror - it isn't you. that's why it's so easy to take apart: you're vaguely aware of the shape, but it feels like you are an animal hiding in the back of this cavern, snarling.

obviously you're like stuck in it. it often hurts a lot, buzzes with pain and a strange numbness. so it is your body when it's painful. that makes sense. otherwise - how many times have you been told to save yourself (your body) for marriage. for someone else. you are just borrowing it.

love your body! is so funny. somehow, without meaning to, the phrase reminds you - it isn't you. you're just inside it.

truly i think part of why fatphobia is so tempting to a lot of not fat people no matter how 'progressive' they are is simply because it gives one a way to feel better. when society tells you you're inherently more virtuous because you're slim, you perceive any social gains (with or without regards to body image/beauty/etc) made by the "ugly" people as a slight on you, an attack on your heightened position. it's (part of) why some skinny women get so completely bent out of shape seeing someone like lizzo be widely loved and praised. that's not allowed! she's fat! I'M supposed to be better! a lot of these people are utterly miserable and self hating and they hate having their one little trophy taken away so they hold it over their head and hit people with it

^ stop using any search engine, such as google, that automatically creates an AI prompt from your search.

image description,

A tumblr comment from a user with a profile picture of the goldfish cracker mascot, goldfishfucker69, it's 2 days old.

the text reads:

Alright, anybody on this post please read the articles linked by decolonize-the-left. The first one discredits the statement OP circled in yellow. It takes 5–50 prompts to use 500mL, depending on server location and season. Believe me, I don’t say this to defend AI, but b/c it is vital that we spread accurate information on any politically relevant topic. You should be active in fighting climate change and environmental degradation, but do it based on real science, not clickbait.

At this point, it's looking quite plausible that israel will win Eurovision. I've seen fans panicking, saying we need to break our boycott and vote for other participants to prevent israel from winning. KEEP BOYCOTTING EUROVISION! Don't spend your money doing damage control for a TV show that viciously defends the inclusion of a genocidal ethnostate. Let them see where it leads, let them see how many countries and sponsors drop out if Eurovision is hosted in israel next year

LET IT ALL CRASH

black and brown bloggers will describe a racist phenomenon in a slightly jesting way and white people will very openly flock to the notes proudly saying “i do that!!! xD”. No shame at all. Appalling, really

It’s really a white pathology thing isn’t it? White people don’t get checked on their racism, but when they do, they see it as a personal attack. The lack of self awareness.

message which appeared on belgian eurovision broadcast

"This is a union action. We condemn the human rights violations committed by the State of Israel. Israel violates media freedom. We are stopping the broadcast for a moment. #ceasefirenow, #stopgenocide," the message said. For a moment it seemed as if there had been a kidnapping, but it seems that the action was coordinated with the managers of VRT. As reported by De Standaard, the VRT spokeswoman claims that they were aware of the union action on public television. "Trade unions have the right to take action. We have taken note of it, but we will not react to it," said Yasmine Van der Borght. Several thousand people peacefully paraded through the streets of Swedish Malmo today as a sign of protest against Israel's participation in Eurovision, a few hours before the performance of 20-year-old singer Eden Golan with the song "Hurricane" in the second semi-final.

it's not great how much covid safety messaging has become crystallised around the rhetoric of like, "becoming disabled is the ultimate unthinkable calamity and will ruin your life" like avoiding infectious diseases is good (socially and individually) and it's true post-acute illnesses can be severe and life-altering. but i don't like seeing this attitude toward disability as though it's this unimaginable alien horror or as though you can guarantee you will avoid it by doing all the 'right' things. most of us will experience disability at some point in our lives, for many of us it will be permanent, it's not a moral failure or some kind of distant spectral threat but a present reality, and that needs to be integrated into any kind of public health advocacy or messaging. & not least because. people who are already disabled are also hearing that messaging and are also vulnerable to covid complications.

Translation: What a shitshow. This years Eurovision has gone to hell. And it's first and foremost the EBU's fault.

Also, excerpt from the same article:

Throughout the course of the Eurovision Song Contest, the EBU has acted as if they live in a parallel universe. Eurovision is one thing, the world outside something else. The EBU has stuck its head in the sand. Shoved the problem under the rug. Held their hands over their ears and shouted LALALALALA. They appear to have done everything they can to pretend it's possible to hold an apolitical event in a world that's on fire. We have come together to be "united by music", they say, but the sharpshooters on Malmö's rooftops have nothing to do with us! In its struggle to remain apolitical, the EBU has become like a small fascist state in itself, where the artists' space for expression and action has been reduced as much as the undergarments of the Spanish dancers. It is reprehensible.

Reminder again to BOYCOTT EUROVISION 🇵🇸

Don't watch, don't vote.

this isn't the fucking US presidential election. there is no 'anti' israel vote, that's not how ESC works

and even if there somehow was a way we could all collectively vote to stop israel from winning, all we'd be doing is banding together to save eurovison's reputation and legitimacy. it would do nothing for palestine

if israel ends up winning, then that's EBU's problem, not ours

don't give these ghouls your money
