Look I don’t deny the possibility that this kid is legitimately traumatised but he’s receiving the backing of an entire political movement because he killed protestors at an anti-police protest. You cannot shoot someone for property damage. You do not get to bring your gun to a public place thinking that you might shoot someone for property damage if, as a non-law enforcement vigilante, it gets out of hand by your standards, and think that that won’t indicate premeditation. You cannot shoot someone in the head for throwing a plastic bag and an empty coke can at you. You do not then get to run from the scene of the crime and then claim that the people trying to take your gun and hold you there are “assaulting” you and that killing them is “just defending” yourself.

But it’s been so politicised by the entire right wing that feels victimised by justice and progress, that people form a strong opinion in his defense without even knowing the details of the case and what he’s being charged with and why. They just say “idk I just know he shot some BLM th*gs who were attacking him and burning down America, so good for him, he’s my hero. #standyourground” without knowing wtf they’re talking about.
