International Orders

Hello! This is Mod Fen with another update regarding the international orders for Remembering Raccoon City: A Resident Evil Fanzine.

First and foremost, all shipping labels have been paid for! My sister found a website that cheapened the cost of shipping international by between $5 and $8 USD (dependent on the recipient’s country), and it cut around $100USD off of the total shipping cost, and Mod Arie and myself split the amount to pay.

Because the site prefers boxes to envelopes, we ordered shipping boxes and expect them to arrive today. The orders are all packed in bubble mailers, so the box will add an extra layer of security while also adhering to the courier guidelines for this particular site.

Once the boxes have arrived, the shipping labels will be printed and the packages finalized. This means that all international customers will receive their tracking numbers within the next 48 hours. Look for an email from BigCartel containing it!

Once the international orders have shipped, I’ll be taking a tally of everything we have left to look into the possibility of a leftover sale. I do want to wait to make sure that no replacement items are needed in the event that merchandise is damaged in transit, but we should have enough to do a small sale.

All international contributor bundles have been shipped! Because it's Friday, your tracking information should update this coming Monday.

DOMESTIC ORDERS SHIPPED!

All Domestic (United States) orders have been shipped! If you live within the United States, your tracking information should already be updated or be updating shortly.

International orders will be mailed out over the next month. I am paying for their shipping out of pocket, which means I have to stagger shipments to match my paychecks. I’m hoping to be able to get all of them at once, as there aren’t many, but they might have to be broken up into two groups in the amount needed goes over $300 USD.

The NSFW PDF will be released on Sunday, 15 May 2022!

If you have any questions or concerns, or need to update your shipping information, please reach out to me directly via DM. My Tumblr handle is solynacea

I know it’s been a long wait and I’ve asked for a lot of patience to get this project finished, but we are finally at the finish line!!

Shipping Update #2

All domestic orders have been packaged, labelled, and will be in transit soon!

International orders will be a little delayed, as I’m shipping them to a friend of mine in France so the EU shipping cost is lower, and the international orders not going to the EU will be subject to US shipping times.

SHIPPING UPDATE #1

Mod Fen here! I wanted to let you all know that I’m waiting on some additional envelopes and address labels to arrive so I can finish packing and get everything in the mail. I’m hoping to have everything ready to go by Saturday so I can drop it all off at the post office.

Production Issues

Hello, this is Mod Fen. I’m the finance, production, and shipping mod for this project now that my role as writer, graphics, and layout mod are completed, and I’d like to give you all a rundown on the production issues that we’ve faced and where we’re at in terms of getting everything shipped out.

And no, we are not a scam.

Unknown to us, a global paper shortage as the result of COVID-19 has and had impacted the ability to have paper products produced, particularly in bulk. This shortage seems to affect book and magazine retailers the most, with increasingly long delays in production based on how many copies and what paper stock you’re asking for.

Back when pre-orders closed, I reached out to our original book vendor, uploaded our files, and . . . silence. I messaged them using the in-site function, emailed them, and when I hadn’t heard anything by December, I cancelled the order, got a refund, and moved on to Steuben Press.

The refund took a while to process. I don’t know why. It could have been technical issues, my bank trying to figure out if it was a fraud, or the original vendor not wanting to have the order cancelled. Regardless, the money was returned, I fixed a few issues I noticed with the PDF is regards to bleed and typos, and sent our files to Steuben. It took a lot of back and forth, as their site was being changed and they were using an outside link to get them, but we were finally in production.

The issue? The paper shortage.

At the time of ordering, we were told that it would take, at the earliest, 5-6 business weeks (or 30 days) to receive our books. Steuben did caution that it could take longer, as we were ordering over 100 of them. As of writing, our books have not shipped out.

I do have all of the merch. It’s sitting in my living room. I have bubble mailers to pack everything. I even found a way to lessen the shipping cost while still having everything mailed out quickly.

I did think very hard on just sending the merch out and then the books, when they arrive. However, the truth of the matter is that we don’t have enough to handle double shipping. With having to go to Steuben, who was more costly, we have just enough money left to ship everything out with the original plan.

I know that this is frustrating. I’m frustrated. I’ve modded several previous zines, and never had issues like the ones that have plagued RRC from the start of production. I am in contact with Steuben, who continues to say that they’re working on the order but are experiencing delays. I’m doing everything I can to get these books so I can finally ship out all of your orders, but my hands are pretty much tied at this point.

I know that we’ve asked for a lot of patience. I know that it seems like we’re not updating frequently, but we just don’t have anything to say other than, “We’re sorry. We’re working as hard as we can to get the books.” All we can do is ask for more patience while we ourselves wait for an update on when the books will arrive.

To close, I will say that I’m sorry. I really am. And if you would like a refund, just send a message to us with your email and order number, and we’ll process it.

ZINE UPDATE #2

This update ties into our first zine update. We wanted to release a little more information to keep the process as transparent as possible, and we hope you’ll read through this post. If you have any questions, you can submit them to us here or at rrczine@gmail.com

There is currently a global paper shortage affecting print and book manufacturers. This has led to the production of any paper items taking longer than usual, and print zines are no exception to this. We were aware that there would be a wait before Mod Fen received the zines, but we realized that our previous post was a little unclear on how long that could be and what to expect.

In their email, Steuben informed us that the shortage could cause production to take up to 30 business days. They also said that it might not take as long, so we should keep a close eye on our inbox for any shipping updates.

Now, zines usually take about two weeks (5-10 business days) to ship out and arrive. Knowing that our production has dragged on a little longer than we’d like, and that you all have been incredibly patient, we’ve decided that if we don’t have a shipping confirmation by 20 Feb. 2022, we’ll release the NSFW PDF to those that ordered it and discuss shipping merch items early if possible. We will, as always keep you updated on what decisions we reach and the status of the physical zines.

ZINE UPDATE #1

We have received and approved the digital proof from Steuben! According to their email, there's a paper shortage that could cause printing to run about 30 business days, but they also said our order might not take as long. We have our fingers crossed!

Apologies if this was posted already, but couldn’t see an answer in the faq or schedule - will it be possible to get a digital copy through either bigcartel or a different channel now that pre-orders have closed?

Hello!

Once shipping has ended and all customer and contributor bundles have been mailed, we'll begin a leftover sale. You'll be able to buy the PDF at this time. :)
