She was not too sure whether time was going by too slowly or incredibly fast. In short seconds, Sakura felt as if a million things crossed her mind. Run, she thought, but her feet were glued to the ground. Call the police, she thought, but her voice seemed to fail her. Hide, she thought, but she felt like it might be too late. Her blood rushed through her veins feeling like ice, thrumming in her ears as her heart beat quicker and quicker. Unsteady.  S c a r e d. 

Her hands trembled, but Sakura did her best to keep them still. Her brain could only focus on going as unnoticed as possible for the time being, and she was still holding her keys. Letting them jiggle would be a big mistake. She wanted to close her eyes to compose herself, but at the same time couldn’t help but keep them WIDE OPEN. Her lungs begged her to gasp, but she tried to breathe steadily. 

Right foot. Left foot. Sakura found the strength to move again and she did so slowly - CAUTIOUSLY. Her mouth was dry but her palms were sweaty. Her brain tried to comprehend what the hell was going on amidst the darkness at the end of the alleyway but seemed to be unable to (or too terrified to fabricate such possibilities). Right foot. Left foot. Breathe slowly. Blink.

A cat’s hiss was heard from somewhere behind her, startling Sakura to let out a gasp. Her hand unclasped the keys and they fell to the ground with an echoing clatter. Run! 

PETRIFIED.

This area was never exactly pretty in the late night - it had an eerie feeling to it, the street lights too dim to properly illuminate certain alleys and corners. Maybe Sakura had just watched too many creepy videos on YouTube in her lifetime or something to that effect, but she could never really shake the feeling that those dark areas were just the right size for someone (or something) to hide. 

The librarian nearly had to kick Sakura out. Her assignment was due soon and her own laptop was busted, currently getting fixed. ‘Boo hoo, handwrite it if you have to’ was the response she got from her professor upon explaining her situation. The words still echoed in her mind now, as she hurriedly walked home with a CHILL down her spine, the sound of her footsteps too loud to her own ears, remarkably alike to the first few seconds of a horror movie. 

A shadow moved. Sakura held her keys tightly between her fingers and wondered already if taking her phone out of her pocket was a good or terrible idea. Despite the rational side of her brain screaming at her to RUN home and never look back, morbid curiosity won over and she found herself turning her head to the side. The lights were dim, but still, Sakura could see a sort of  g l i s t e n  that did not look like good news. Was that… Blood? Her eyes strained to try and see the figure cloaked by the shadows. Her heart beat unsteadily as she realized that might just be the last thing she would see.

-whirls around and tackles him- “I’M GONNA FUCKING KILL YOU!”

                     .·•✿ There was a bit of a pause as Lotus observed the stranger slowly emerging from the forest. The clothes looked strange to him, as did the strangers hair. Also it appeared to be someone younger, though he wasn’t sure how young. But old enough to carry a weapon, he could see that much. Nothing really scared Lotus, not after what he had been through. 

“If you had wanted to bring me harm, you would have already, as I was laying there unaware and defenseless. You didn’t. Nobody should hesitate before drawing a weapon if they actually have ill intent..” Lotus replied with a small nod. Truly it would’ve been so easy for someone to hurt him in the state he currently was in. He didn’t really feel any tension in the air, this stranger didn’t seem to be ill contented. 

“My name is Lotus..what is yours stranger? And what year is it..?”  He asked, assuming a great amount of time had passed.  ✿•·.
