this is why i added “I Pray” by LANY to my pynch playlist (that i finally caved and made)

here it is:

it’s small but i loooooove what i have so far. i guess it’s better to have a concentration of connection then songs that kind of connect to them

can i get permission to say something that could potentially get me killed here and would DEFINITELY get me killed on twitter. am i safe with you here

ok so clarification: i literally couldn't give a shit what anybody is into and i would be a massive hypocrite if i judged people for their interests. i can't stress enough how much i don't care if people listen to taylor swift and enjoy her.

i think ms swift makes PERFECTLY adequate catchy music, she's not Bad, i get why people like her, but i just. i don't think she's a tortured starving artist or a genius songwriter. i don't think her songs have ANY deep heart-wrenching meaning other than the most basic "here's a metaphor for something, here are some words that relate to eachother and sound a bit poetic". i don't think the rich white woman charging $500 per ticket and taking her private jet to costco should be called 'punk'. i don't think she's a Queer Icon for any reason other than a good amount of queer people enjoy her.

like obviously subtext exists, i will assign any song to anything even if it doesn't fit perfectly. but i just can't see her as the genius poet that people think she is? and especially with the queer stuff, people are DESPERATE for her to be a 'queer icon' when there are SO MANY incredible queer artists. it's like you're surrounded by a giant beautiful orchard but for some reason you're foraging for apples in the river

idk i just don't what to say when someone quotes a lyric and says "isn't this the deepest, most meaningful, heartfelt, brilliant thing you've ever heard" other than "it's Fine?"

also she's the reason everyone is saying "____ era" to describe an outfit or makeup look they're going to wear for five minutes and for some reason it drives me insane but that's a separate thing

gansey's love towards ronan is so deep and beautiful and well translated in that scene in trk where theyre at the barns and ronan just laughs. and that's it. and gansey's mind goes "that's my boy, that's my almost brother, that's the one who is struggling so much, that's the ronan lynch before his world fell apart, before he found his father dead just fifty meters away from where we are now and his whole life crashed into pieces, that's him, he's healing, he's surviving through the worst". and how am i supposed to just live my life after that. i cant handle it

i think we trc likers on the internet really undervalue and ignore the really fascinating and well done world building and magic system that maggie steifvater crafted. yes the characters and their relationships are exquisite and i’m glad they are appreciated but like the blurring of worlds and time and mythology is amazing. unfortunately she also does this magic trick with her writing where 24 hours after one finishes a maggie steifvater book any details other than the characters and the broadest story arcs erase themselves from ones brain, so i do not fault myself for this nor any of u. rip
