Anonymous said: A scenario of 3rd year shouto and reader being the power couple of the school pls!! Like how their kouhais admire them and shouto n reader as the next big 3
And here it isss, Anon! I wrote Midoriya into the next big 3 as well, otherwise it would’ve been the big 2, and I think the scenario would’ve felt a bit incomplete that way, huh? Thank you for requesting!! <3
Warnings: None, but this scenario may be confusing if you’re unfamiliar with The Big Three.
“Oh my god, did you see them kiss!?”
Todoroki hears the not so quiet whisper of the table nearby as he pulls away from you, his hand falling from your cheek, and he turns to pick up the chopsticks from his tray.
It was a peck on the lips, short and more of a hello than anything else since he hadn’t seen you that morning, but the squeals coming from all around make it seem as if he’d just been caught making out with you and inside Lunch Rush, of all places.
He sighs, asking with chopsticks in hand, “You hear them too, right?”
Next to him, you nod, chewing and too into your food to be affected by the noise, and across from Todoroki, Iida sets his glass down, which minutes into the lunch period, is already half empty.
“It’s only natural they talk,” he says, pulling at the tab of the can he’d picked up, and there’s a quick pop before he’s pouring more orange juice into his glass. “As the next Big Three, you two and Midoriya here represent what a student of Yuuei’s can achieve, and they’re trying to learn from you through their observations.” Iida finishes simply, content with his opinion.
Although he could be right, if there were more at Yuuei with a work ethic similar to his, Todoroki doubts the squeals were from learning. Actually, he has a pretty good idea of what they were really about.
The mention of his name prompts Midoriya to start coughing at the table, before he rubs the back of his neck, sheepishly admiting, “I’ve always thought it was a little strange that they call us The Big Three, but besides, uh, learning…” Midoriya looks between you and Todoroki thoughtfully. “…I think it’s also because you two are dating.”
It’s gentle how he says it, but Midoriya must’ve thought it’d offended Todoroki because now he’s shaking his head furiously, waving his hands in front of himself to clarify, “B-but there’s nothing wrong with that, Todoroki!! Date for however long you want!!”
At Todoroki’s puzzled expression, Midoriya looks down, suddenly very interested in eating, and Uraraka eyes him, skeptical.
Ignoring her bowl of rice temporarily, she points her chopsticks in his direction. “But Deku… doesn’t that make you the third wheel of The Big Three then? You aren’t dating anybody, and when these two are with you, a lot of the questions usually go to them about their relationship.”
Head raised, Midoriya gapes at her. “Third wheel!?” he repeats, shocked, and Uraraka smiles, giving him a shaky thumbs up. “Good luck, Deku! Yuuei’s power couple will be hard to beat in popularity.”
While Midoriya continues to gape, Iida (on his third glass of orange juice) turns to him, eyes serious behind his glasses. “Midoriya, don’t think of being a third wheel as a disadvantage—“
And the three launch into a discussion of Midoriya’s standing in The Big Three, which Todoroki doesn’t regret not joining in.
He refocuses his attention on you, mouth opening to say something, when a first year approaches his side of the table, clearly nervous about interrupting his lunch.
“What is it?” Todoroki asks, making sure he doesn’t sound annoyed.
As part of The Big Three—he thought the same thing as Midoriya did, by the way, in that it was a little strange to be called that—it’d become normal for underclassmen to get curious, sometimes overly so, about anything Todoroki did and especially about his relationship with you.
He’d had enough of these encounters that he’d gotten better at dealing with them, but it’d be great if he could just eat and talk to you in peace…
The first year can hardly meet his eyes. “Some of us were wondering, um, how long have you been together?”
By “us” Todoroki guesses she’s referring to her first year classmates.
“Three years.” he replies, knowing you’re listening in, letting him do the talking.
The first year’s eyes light up, and Todoroki braces himself for possible follow-up questions.
“Wow, that long!?” she says, and in her excitement, it seems that her initial nervousness with Todoroki had vanished. “You’re both so cool! I can see why you’re so admired. Even the second years speak highly of you!”
She throws in a few extra compliments, and with a satisfied wave, goes back to her table filled with other first years.
It’s only then that Todoroki can breathe easy, and his eyes flick over to you, just in time to catch the smile that’s on your face.
“The first years are so cute!”
“The attention doesn’t bother you?” Todoroki asks, disagreeing in his head about the first years.
“Nah, it has its perks.. like if you break up with me, I can just send a bunch of first years after you, Shouto.”
“I.. I wouldn’t break up with you.” Todoroki protests, miffed at the thought of that happening, and he feels your hand soothingly rest over his under the table.
“I know.” you say, lightly squeezing his hand, and after a moment, he squeezes back.
“Oh my god, are they going to kiss again!?”
Todoroki wanted to groan.
