imma say it. “kung fu panda” did more for body positivity and saying that  you can be fat and still be healthy and liked than ANYTHING any beauty companies trying to get your money.

kfp also respects women more than any beauty company too.

also it had a positive relationship between an adopted child and his stepfather even after he found out he was adopted

Hey yknow how Viper was born without fangs, but instead of being rendered helpless as her family thought she’d be, she instead used her other skills to become the best warrior in her clan?

And how Tigress had severe, destructive anger issues when she was younger, but instead of being painted as a “problem child” she was instead taught her how to channel her emotions into something constructive?

And how Crane trained extra hard to impress a girl, and was by all rights the hero of his own story, but he still didn’t get her in the end? And how the girl isn’t shamed for it?

It’s almost as if you get more mileage out of treating your characters (and the people they resemble) with compassion than you do just shamelessly stamping them with your own misconceptions and hang ups.

I’m honestly kind of shocked how well-written this cartoon about Jack Black as a panda ended up being, but kudos to KFP!

yay I’m glad they did a study!

here’s the article link, dated 16 March 2020

for the record the study mostly focuses on energy consumption from travel + cooking & heating in private homes. results say that “in transport the richest tenth of consumers use more than half the energy”, while in cooking and heating “the top 10% of consumers used roughly one third of the total, presumably reflecting the size of their homes.”

heavy focus also on how the standard of living in the US & European countries is such that we consume WAY more energy than anyone else, by a truly ridiculous and astronomical degree.

Please make "yay I'm glad they did a study!" a more common reaction than "WATER IS WET." The “LOL DUHHHHH” attitude reinforces the attitude that researchers are clueless to the “real world” and “wasting” resources to study things we “already know,” as if they were just too self-righteous to walk down the street and ask a “normal” person to tell them some obvious truth about the world. The correct reaction is to thank the people who worked hard to support what you “already knew” with hard data and numbers. They are literally helping and supporting what we keep saying, and they are often doing so for relatively meager pay to boot.

Those stories like “car thief steals car without realizing baby in back, returns baby safe” “burglar finds cp stash on computer turns guy in”

And everyone is always so shocked and amazed but like. It really shows how much we’ve tied morality to legality. Legal corporations exploit and harm people every day and we’re all used to is. A petty thief has normal morals and everyone is like shocked.

Amazing fact but ... ppl who turn to crime to survive don’t suddenly become feelingless sociopaths and tbh I’d rather hang out with “blue collar criminals” all day than the top brass of any one company wtf because chances are I’ll find better ppl among the car thieves lmao

she’s that perfect combination of extremely judgemental and supportive

“god you fucking dumbass hope you feel better soon bud”

“Po from Kung Fu Panda is a himbo,” I say into the mic.

The crowd boos. I begin to walk off in shame, when a voice speaks and commands silence from the room.

“They’re right,” they say. I look for the owner of the voice. There in the 5rd row stands: Jack Black himself

5rd

we all know Jack Black is not limited by our simple universe

This is cracking me up..why on earth did they delete his response in the movie!? hes so offended LOL

UNMUTE THIS

sCuM?!

I don’t know why it cracks me up so much that Han’s first reaction is not to attack, or to protect Leia, but to hold her back, clearly assuming that she’s just going to fling herself into the middle of a dozen armored Stormtroopers and start trying to kill them with her bare hands.

To be fair, Leia would. Without hesitation

Dear god, sleepy intimacy makes me so very happy.

One person sleeping with their head on the other person’s lap. Getting all drowsy-snuggly when they’re too tired to see straight. Being tucked in and kissed on the forehead before they pass out. Gentle touches while they drift off. Trusting the other person to watch over them and make sure nothing happens to them while they’re out.

Just… sleepy intimacy, man.

in this month, which is both pride and indigenous history month, please unpack ur “i wanna move to a farm w my wife uwu” shit and realize it holds an inherent expectation of access to land stolen from indigenous people. it’s irresponsible to move to a rural area to ““live off the land”” without giving serious thought to whose land it was before white settlers took it over and how you can work to undo that theft. becoming a white settler yourself ain’t it.

I’ve been seeing alot of these kind of posts targeting white people who want to purchase land, and as a native person myself, the hostility is really unfounded. I get what it’s all going for but it’s just barking up the wrong tree. Yes, the land is stolen. And it was stolen a long time ago, and many aboriginal people were hurt when the land taken and abused. There’s nothing wrong with a few people on the internet having daydreams about managing a farm.

I wasn’t able to discern race from either of the above two responses, so I’m not going to make any assumptions, but I have seen a few of these posts posted by white people. So, if you’re a white person, instead of crying “colonialism!” Out on the internet because people want to own a farm, actually go out and help native people. Learn their cultures and languages, and help preserve them. Donate your time and money to fundraisers and organizations that help native people. Guilt shaming other people for purchasing land that was long taken from us long ago doesn’t actually help natives! If you’re looking for places to donate, please help the local Indian Bands in your provinces, states, county, etc. Do a cursory search on the internet or ask around near where you live. You’ll find something that you can actually do to help someone who needs that help right now.

For example, I’m Haida- from the north-west coast people who live on Haida Gwaii. Our language is dying, and only twelves dozen speakers are still alive after heavy erasure. You can learn some of the language here (for free!:

And even watch a recent documentary to see what life on the island is like today, (I’m not sure if you watch it for free or not, I purchased a Blu-Ray copy of the film):

You can even donate some money to the Haida museum on the island:

This is some research I just did right now. Please, if you’re concerned about what has happened in the past, and what you can do to fix it, please do something worthwhile. Getting mad at strangers who want to own some land doesn’t get native people anywhere.

The actual article is worth reading if you have the time (it’s a pretty fast read with lots of pictures) - one of the ranchers highlighted is a member of the Lakota nation.

Spread!!!
