biphobes make me sick

one of these days i'm going to commit murder

Avatar

the op of the first one backtracked and was like "i meant cis bi girls. i meant if their bfs are cishet too. if u complain about this ur focusing on the wrong issue, i was joking!"

it's honestly so obvious that people think as long as they say they meant CIS bi girls or WHITE bi girls or whatever privilege modifier they can add onto bi girls that they can get away with biphobia. like as if okay to be biphobic to some kinds of bi girls, like as if other bi girls are seeing that shit and not feeling offended bc "oh well I'm not a cis/white/whatever bi girl so this doesn't apply to me".

So some people who do things like this love to shirk away from the biphobic label so damn hard, but if you really weren’t, it would not bother you that bisexuals are well... bisexual. Which yes, will sometimes include dating or being attracted to someone of the opposite gender. Which yes, will sometimes include being monogamous to said person.

It’s very transparent what’s being done here. In these people’s minds bisexuals will only be socially acceptable if they A.) Aren’t bisexual or B.) Are bisexual in a way they deem acceptable. Which often means being attracted to the opposite gender, being attracted to more than one gender, in theory but not practice. They don’t want to see or acknowledge that aspect of us because to them it’s not valid.

One moment we’re promiscuous deviants who can’t keep it in our pants and the next we’re monogamous but not to the “right person.” Someone they deem worthy of said monogamy. We can’t win. The goal post truly stays in flux!

And you’re truly a dumbass if you think just because you add a modifier that denotes privilege that it takes the prejudice out of your statement. This isn’t some sleight of hand trick that’s going work. We can very much still see what’s being critiqued and acknowledged. Mentioning the part of their identity that doesn’t get them scrutiny does not mean you can come down harder on the part that does.

surprisingly, this still remains probably the best and most concise explanation as to why the harry potter franchise didn't work and never could work in a satisfying way because of the author's limited perception of life and politics

Pulled the central point for readability:

But that would require a Harry that believed in something, and since Rowling is a liberal centrist Blairite that doesn't really believe in anything, Harry can't believe in anything. Harry lives in a world drought with conflict and injustice, a stratified class society, slavery of sentient magical creatures, the absurd charade the wizarding world puts up to enforce their own self-segregation, a corrupted and bureaucracy-choked government, rampant racism, so on and so forth. But Harry is little more than a passive observer for most of it, only the racism really bothers him and then, really only racism against half-bloods). In fact, when Hermione stands up against the slavery of elves, she's treated as some kind of ridiculous Soapbox Sadie. For opposing chattel slavery. In the end, the biggest force for change is Voldemort and Harry and friends only ever fight for the preservation and reproduction of the status quo. The very height of Harry's dreams is to join the aurors, a sort of wizard FBl and the ultimate defenders of the wizarding status quo. Voldemort and the Death Eaters are the big instigators of change and Harry never quite gets to Voldy's level. Harry doesn't even beat Voldemort, Voldemort accidentally kills himself because he violated some obscure technicality that causes one of his spells to bounce back at him

As usual, my Voldemort-fan sensibilities are thrilled whenever I see someone draw attention to the fact that he’s the revolutionary in this narrative.

Honestly this is exactly what it's like now. Probably a large part of why the kids don't resonate with Harry Potter now is that they've realized that the status quo isn't desirable and we don't want a hero like Harry anymore. We are experiencing Harry Potter irl without the magic and we want a better hero than Harry

Tama is boss

THE TRAINS HAVE CARTOON TAMAS ON THEM

Sad update everyone, Tama recently passed away… An estimated 3,000 people, including railway officials, attended Tama the cat’s funeral on Sunday, days after she died of heart failure aged 16. [x]

For those who haven’t read articles about it, the local shrine elevated her to a god. She’s now the Eternal Stationmaster and patron god of the station.

Beautiful.

Now I’m crying thanks

and a new cat was hired right?

yep! her name is Nitama (essentially ”second tama” or “tama II”) and she served under Tama as an apprentice before being appointed her deputy

Nitama, already now a mature cat (born 2010), has a protege named Yontama (fourth Tama, b. 2016).  There is no information available for either the physical befellment or tragic self-disgrace which has removed Santama from contention.

a legacy

okay but actually what happened to santama (or sun-tama-tama, which is her name because it’s a pun on santama) was that she was basically sent to train for the position in okayama and they liked her so much they refused to send her back

“Sun-tama-tama” (a pun off of “Santama”, lit. “third Tama”) was a calico cat sent for training in Okayama. Sun-tama-tama was considered as a candidate for Tama’s successor, but the Okayama Public Relations representative who had been caring for Sun-tama-tama refused to give the cat up writing, “I will not let go of this child, she will stay in Okayama.” [25]
As of September 2018, Sun-tama-tama is working as the stationmaster in Naka-ku, Okayama and appears occasionally on Tama’s Twitter account.

Every time I see this post there’s new info and it gets better

You are only allowed to scroll pass this after you pay tribute to the great Tama Station masters.

The shrine of Tama Daimyōjin (Great gracious deity Tama), next to the Kishi station where she worked.

Nitama presenting her yearly offerings to Tama Daimyōjin on the anniversary of Tama’s Death, June 23 (The offerings are presented by the company president, as Nitama is a cat and thus can’t hold the offerings herself) (Not pictured, but also present, Yontama)

you cannot pass without reblogging guys. i’m sorry, i don’t make the rules.

You can’t not reblog a goddess. It’s just what’s so. :)

Imagine you are paid in food to greet people, and people like you so much you become a goddess after you die.

Please go watch Sex Explained on Netflix. Not only is it a great resource for the basic sex education that is sorely lacking in the U.S., but some of ya’ll need to take a deep breath and remember the difference between fantasy vs reality. This purity culture thing that we’re going through right now is directly harmful to responsible, healthy sexual expression. BTW this woman, Lisa Diamond, is a noted psychologist and has been pushing for greater understanding of womens sexuality as a whole.

More fun facts about ancient Celtic marriage laws: There were no laws against interclass or interracial marriage, no laws against open homosexual relationships (although they weren’t considered ‘marriages’ since the definition of a marriage was ‘couple with child’), no requirement for women to take their husband’s names or give up their property, but comedians couldn’t get married

It’s Adam and Eve not Adam Sandler and Eve

Avatar
annajiejie

I want to expound upon “comedians couldn’t get married” thing because it’s actually really interesting. Satire was respected in Ancient Ireland. It was thought to have great power, enough to physically maim the subject one was making jokes about. Satirists could bring down kings with a witty enough insult. That was actually their original function. When the king didn’t do right by his people, a bard was supposed to compose a poem so scathing it would raise welts on the king’s skin to oust him (it was illegal for a “blemished” king to rule.) Unwarranted satire was considered a form of assault. So what it boils down to is ancient Celts being like “These people are too dangerous to reproduce. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH CHILDREN. EVER.”
