Love Miz

Shimmer✨

One… two… three…

You counted each step, trying to sync your breathing to the rhythm of your gait as you walked from the portal to the wrap-around balcony of Ramazith’s Tower. You didn’t care for heights, not since you fell from a tree as a child and fractured your arm. The moment you agreed to join Rolan on the observation deck of Ramazith’s Tower, you wished you’d proposed an alternative.

“You’re afraid of heights,” Rolan noted flatly as he took your hand in his.

“I-“ the jig was up. Your clammy hands gave it away. “Yes,” you sighed heavily.

Roman hummed thoughtfully. You awaited a biting remark; but instead of that, Rolan performed a prestidigitation that enveloped the whole balcony in a shimmering blue light. Your stomach still twisted anxiously as your heart raced, although you were unsure if that was because of Rolan’s presence or your fear of heights.

“This barrier will protect you from any harm,” the tiefling archmage explained. He took a step closer to you as a soft smile played at his lips. “You needn’t worry.”

Rolan moved to close the gap between you, cupping your cheek with his free hand. “No harm will befall you. Not while I’m around.”

Rolan with an Assassin Rogue!Tav who fakes assassination attempts on him in their spare time.

Half of Rolan's face is smushed against the carpeted floor of his study, his swordarm pinned behind his back with a foot while his other arm is pinned on the floor with a hand. He feels a smooth, cold metal against his neck — a spoon? He attempts to turn his head to face his attacker and the beginnings of a spell begin to dissipate once he recognizes his 'would-be assassin'.
"What in the hells are you doing?!"
"I should be asking that, my love." Tav leans in, so close that they feel his staggered breaths against their face. "You should have overwhelmed me with a spell. As the new master of Ramazith's tower, you can't be surprised that there would be people willing to take the position from you, or your life."
He scoffs, his heart still races and almost faster but not because of the 'attempt' on his life. "I am much aware that my position is sought after. But I didn't think that my lover, of all people, would try to take it from me. And with a spoon, no less!"
Tav chuckles before releasing him. "My knives are reseverved for actual murder, dear. I'm not insane."
He pats himself down, casting prestidigitation to smooth the newly formed creases of his robe. He rolls his eyes as he does so. "Only slightly, darling. No sane person would fake an assassination attempt on their lover."
Tav moves closer to tuck a hair behind his horn. "It's called 'love language'. I know you don't expect me to save you from every predicament, but I'd be a fool to not prepare my lover for one that's my forte."
He sighs. "I understand where you're coming from. But the tower's defenses are more than enough to protect me." He places a hand on their waist and plucks the spoon from their grasp to set it on his desk. "Besides, you've only managed to get close because I've let both the tower's guard and my proverbial one down around you."
"You let your guard down? It seems I have more to teach you than I thought." Their tone sultry as they place a hand on his chest.
He grins, a glint in his half-lidded eyes, as he brushes his lips against theirs. "Then Iet this be our first lesson, then."
He whispers against Tav's lips,"Non Moverē."
"Wha—"
They lose all control of their limbs, unable to move. Hold person. Damn.
Rolan steps back and puffs his chest, proud of the spell he managed to cast without having to gesticulate. "It seems you've failed the lesson you thought to teach me, and, in the prospect of learning something, you should know that a wizard's power comes most from his mouth than his hands."
Tav sends him a look, both pissed and turned on. "Why don't you let me go so I can teach you other ways you can use that damnable mouth."

I think some people forget that some literature and some media is meant to be deeply uncomfortable and unsettling. It's meant to make you have a very visceral reaction to it. If you genuinely can't handle these stories then you are under no obligation to consume them but acting as if they have no purpose or as if people don't have a right to tell these stories, stories that often relate to the darkest or most disturbing parts of life, then you should do some introspection.

This is the End Goal of Capitalism

I have had strong visions of the need for a specifically geriatric care orientated fast response team for evictions,.

back in 2009 I was working with a teacher from my sister's school to get hours I needed to get my cna certification back. I was assigned to help with a few residents in what was supposed to be a very nice nursing home. One of the residents I was helping with was unaware and unresponsive at all times. She could not move nor speak and while we were sure she could hear she did not have any way of communicating.

So imagine my confusion when I showed up for my shift to see the other person assigned to her packing up this woman's belongings.

I asked what was going on and got that they were kicking the woman out. I wondered if they had said where she was going to go and the other aid explained that she hadn't been told anything but that it was very strange.

I helped pack this woman's belongings and went to help in another room.

About an hour later I checked up on the unresponsive resident only to see the aid back with her looking extremely distressed.

She let me know that they were sending the woman back to her previous address as the prices for the nursing home had risen and her social security checks no longer covered the costs. Since they hadn't been able to get ahold of her family the woman's payments hadn't been covering the full amount and eventually she missed several payments as the money coming in was ate up by late fees and such.

Thing is her previous home had been sold and her family had moved out of state. So they were taking her to the house of a stranger.

I went and reported this to my instructor and told her we needed to call the state board to report this. While I was doing that they packed the woman into a transport vehicle and drove her away.

They left her in a stretcher in the street.

My instructor didn't want to rock the boat because the school needed to keep working with this facility so that her students would be able to get their credit hours.

We got into an argument because I pointed out that if she didn't report it she was also breaking the law as this was a clear case of endangerment.

Our argument attracted the attention of other residents and nursing aids. When they asked what was going on I told them exactly what happened.

Unsurprisingly everyone was upset that the facility has just abandoned a woman who could not move or speak on a street in the middle of summer. It was around 90f out side!

My phone was locked up at the time so I kept badgering the instructor and made it clear I would be reporting the situation first chance I got and I would be naming her too as someone who chose to let this happen.(She kicked me out of her program for this but I did report her to her principal and school board.)

During this a bunch of the residents heard me point out how extremely illegal this was and how dangerous it was. All of the aids were talking to each other. And because they heard me loudly state I was going to report it once I had a phone people started slipping away.

And hour later transport returns with the resident and she is soaked in sweat and red all over. Her aid and I rushed over to clean her and put medicated cream on her skin. While we tried to get fluid in her aid proudly let me know that I reminded everyone that they had the power to help and people started calling the owners, state board, child services even. Two residents proudly told me that they called the police for a wellness check. So many people called and made a scene that the owners scrambled to get the woman back.

A few neighbors who saw the woman dumped even reported them to the police!

The absolute deluge of calls spooked the owners so bad they rushed to get the woman back to the facility before the news found out.

An investigation was started after that. I was told by the instructor that she didn't feel comfortable having me around even though I was right and that she wouldn't vouch that I preformed the hours I worked. I would have to start over with another instructor.

I asked her if she thought the part of the course that says you legally have to report neglect and abuse was optional.

Then I got my money back.

My sister let me know that the Owners of the facility decided to follow the law and got a case worker for that woman who found her family and was able to properly move her into a cheaper facility instead of dumping her on the street at a strangers door.

Which they should have done in the first place.

But packing her up and throwing out in the street was far quicker and cheaper. So that's what they did. Had so many people not fought for her they might have gotten away with that.

I'm not surprised another facility resorted to having that 93 year old arrested. Majority of care facilities are all about money first and the actual residents well being last.

"People as things. That's where it starts."

You shouldn’t have to be trans to get any sex characteristic-related surgery. It’s not a limited resource. Plenty of cis men get implants and cis women get breast reductions. From Colby Gordon today and Leslie Feinberg in Transgender Warriors (1996).

Avatar

I’m a cis man sure but i also wanna opt out of the gender binary. None of that shit is my fault or my responsibility and i don’t want any part of it

Believing the gender binary is stupid horseshit doesn’t require me to change my gender actually

Yeaheyah you get it. Not trans but i believe in their beliefs. Sometimes i remember people form gender complexes around what alcoholic beverages or colors they like and i just wonder how they’re not fucking exhausted from keeping up this stupid fucking horseshit. Just do whatever you want forever

@nimagine i know u reblogged this from me but ur so correct 🙏 get peer reviewed

worth mentioning that the category of "cis+" includes people who detransition.

To adapt the metaphor above, some people gaze upon the void and turn away immediately, but others must begin to walk into it and feel it transform them in order to know that they don't wish to continue that journey. These are equally valid approaches.

"I've already thanked you enough. Don't be greedy."

Their eyes practically shine and they're almost buzzing at the thought of getting under the wizard's nerves. "And if I asked you for more than this?"

Rolan rolls his eyes, but Tav can see no real malcontent — instead... playfulness, almost. "And what could possibly satiate you?"

They hold his stare as they place the bag of gold on the bar. With a tilt of their head, they step closer and gently hold his chin with their forefinger and thumb.

His eyes widen and he could swear he felt time stop. Did they cast slow on him? No, his heart was racing — far faster than it was a few seconds ago.

His eyes almost dare to close as Tav brings his face closer to theirs. His hands are floating awkwardly between them, as if debating whether or not he should push them away or pull them closer.

Then Tav moves his head to the side, pressing a light kiss on his cheek. He feels the whisper before he can hear it.

"You..."

Rolan blinks.

They move away, back to where they were when the conversation started. "—should keep it."

"...what?"

They roll their eyes. "The gold. You need it more than I do."

As they turn to leave, they wink (and Rolan thinks he needs to lie down). "Besides, it won't satiate me, not like you would."

Just read the most incoherent post from someone mad that a lot of fans see Gale as autistic-coded. Like I'm not even sure what they're reasoning was, because they just went on about Mystra then and "it's a weird victimization thing"? What?

So anyway, making my own post to say that as a professionally diagnosed autistic person, I 100% read Gale as autistic, too! And I like that. I like seeing myself in him, even if it's not explicit canon.

sound on, obviously

The laughter from the people watching is great, it really adds something and you just feel like this is probably the most authentic recreation of a historical event that some bored teens did next to a camp fire hundreds of years ago as their buddies watched.
