“I heard a woman yelling at someone for stepping on her toes already. I’m more than a little afraid to head back out into the fray. You’re more than welcome to stay if you need a place to hide.” Gideon nodded to the empty seat beside him — right before the bar. He’d was lucky to get it, he believed.

“I suppose she should have worn sturdier shoes.” He commented lightly before taking a seat, “Thank you. This mask is killing me.” Full face. He had thought it a good idea at the time, now all he felt was nothing but regret.

“I could have went with a decent pair of shoes to roll with the suit, but felt more comfortable with these Adidas —- take it or leave it. If you don’t mind, I’ll be hunting for the nearest bar so that I can drink for majority of the night.”

“What is it the bouncers say at clubs? As long as they’re ‘box fresh’ then it’s all good? Bar is that way.”

“The dilemma is that if I take my heels off, I’ll drown in this dress and my feet feel as though they are being stabbed by pins. The only solution is some champagne, but I can’t seem to get up to get some so if you’d so kindly get some for me, I’ll make sure to pay for the next two rounds of whatever you’d like.”

“I’ll get it for you, no need for the return.” He assured her. This was another catastrophic failure on Logan’s part with the full-face masked. How on earth was he supposed to drink. He hadn’t thought this through at all. not a moment later, and he had returned with a glass of chilled champagne and handed to her, “Voila.”

“Really didn’t see the fuckin’ need to stay in character; only here for the drinks.” Clark raised a brow at the other who was the fifth person to comment on his lack of proper attire. He ditched said mask long ago, figuring what the hell did it even matter; eventually people would find out who each other were.

“You’re simply ruining the mystique of it all, but help yourself. I can’t exactly blame you for taking advantage.” He huffed in amusement, the full mas was proving not to be a fun idea. He was half tempted to rip it off then and there anyway, “These godawful things are stifling.”

“… No drinking on the job, but I appreciate the offer.” Taz said as she tapped on her security badge, offering the guest a smile. “You look amazing tonight though.” She assured them, unable to stop herself from complimenting everyone she crossed paths with. The room seemed awash with models. Taz’s eyes were trying to take in everything, but failed in the midst of the glimmering blur of the crowd in front of her. “And if you need anything or there’s any way I can make your night better you just let me know.”

He scoffed from beneath his mask, “Don’t worry, it’s just sparkling water.” He assured her, the quirk of a smile hidden from beneath the full mask he wore, “Thank you. I’m glad I had the suit dry-cleaned after all, else I might have stunk of a grandmother’s old closet.” Logan huffed in amusement, it was entertaining that he wasn’t recognised, even though he’d been the one to employ her, “I’ll be sure to. Are you enjoying yourself?”

“Pretty sure there’s signs out there on my property saying not to trespass. So you better have a good reason for being here.” She spoke as she grabbed her shirt and slipped it on.

“It’s just me Gia. Just wanted to check in, or is that not a good enough reason these days? Sorry, it seems I caught you at an inconvenient moment.”

“I’d say I’d rather have someone knock me out real hard - but I think I’d wake up in even greater pain.” She muttered, taking the pack from him and smacked it against her jaw which obviously caused her to wince - again. The girl was clearly not the definition of grace. “Just glad it’s fucking over..”

He gave her a sympathetic look, “You’d be right there,” He sighed regretfully before taking a seat beside her. He was glad she was alright, wounds aside, he knew she’d be right as rain again in a few day’s time, “So… Describe it to me again, who it was who attacked you. Just so I have a definitive picture.”

Her eyes rolled almost immediately. She could taste the sarcasm on his tongue and for a moment, she almost craved to lean forward and smack that grin off his face. “As you should be, but it’s okay, I’ll savour every scream when I finally get to have my way with you.” A grin framed her lips, eyeing him up and down before her gaze returned to his lips. “It’s the only compliment I’ll ever give you, so you best savour it.” She dragged her finger down his chest slowly, moving closer. “I know exactly what I’m going to do with every single inch of you.”
He smirked at her, “It’s a pity you’re so bitter, that smile is quite radiant,” It was hard to tell from his tone if he was being genuine or simply mocking her. Logan dared to take a half step closer to her as her finger dragged down his shirt, “I’ll treasure it always -- and oh, please do share. Actually, I take it back. Don’t tell me, keep it a surprise, I do love a good surprise.” He taunted. He actually hated surprises, but that was only because they gave him little chance to plan.

“It doesn’t matter what you believe because I didn’t set it. –What are you anyway, a fucking police officer, coming up to me and confronting me like you’re some big man? Fire’s out. S’not like it would’ve burned the forest down anyway.” Carolina barked back, a derisive look creasing her face.
He couldn’t help but let out a bemused laugh, “Awfully defensive, aren’t you?” Logan shrugged, “I’m not a police officer, but I do have a cabin a half click away from this point, I’d rather not come out to find it burned down because of someone else's’ carelessness.” Logan folded his arms over his chest, “Intentional or accidental, you need to be more careful. It’s just lucky this entire place has been doused by the thunderstorms lately. Height of summer and this place would’ve gone up like a dry haystack.”

Vivian watched him reach forward, and as he turned she stepped back to give him the space to turn. She could understand why he was stressed, and she knew shutting it off was easier said than done, she truly got that. But that didn’t mean she didn’t find a small part of herself wanting to help him as much as she could. So, in true drinking buddy fashion, Vivian sighed. “Than maybe you need something a little stronger than that.” She nodded towards the bottle in his hand, her shoulders lifting in a slight shrug as she turned from him and headed towards the living room, eventually letting herself fall to sit down in the corner of the couch. She didn’t motion for him to join her, simply glanced over at him to let him know the gesture was there.
He looked over his shoulder to watch her sit, “Alcohol and full moons tend to make a potent mix.” Even he had been good in how much he had been drinking. Granted, when you drink the quantity of alcohol that Logan did and for the amount of time that he had been he really ought to be dead, but that was the blessed joy of his curse. His fingers drummed on the bottle in his hands before he’d give the slightest shrug and move to go sit down with her. He’d end up pacing all night if he didn’t force himself to sit, “Enough of my problems. That’s just shit piled on shit. Tell me what’s been going on with you lately.”

“Can I just sleep for .. God knows how long until this bullshit is over?” She groaned, burying her face into her hands before hissing when she accidently put pressure on the jaw. “I still feel like a train ran me over.”

“You can try but that may require an extra dose of determination, amongst other things,” He murmured, crouching down as he offered her the ice pack, “Careful, with any luck it’s just bruised, but this will help a little.”

“Ow–fuck.” She yelped, jumping back from the fire that was quickly spreading. She came to her senses and stamped it out quickly, not before glaring at her own fingertips that the sparks had come from. Her magic was still totally on the fritz, powerful yet totally unmanageable and eating her alive. Hearing footsteps behind her in the woods, she angrily huffed out some air and turned around. “I didn’t set that fire.”

Logan approached casually, hands in the pockets of his jacket, “Funnily enough,” He started as he came closer, “I find that hard to believe.” He hadn’t seen her cast the spell, but considering that she was the only one around save for himself, it was pretty clear what had happened, “Is arson a common hobby of yours?”
