I draw things! Usually sci-fi, fantasy and superheroes, mostly fandom, sometimes original. Check out my Storenvy shop!

I'm deeply fond of Thomas Nightingale and also he frequently makes me very sad, so I wanted to draw something about that. Also, I figured if anyone would suit Leyendecker illustration vibes, which I'm really into right now, he would.

(Drawn in alcohol markers and coloured fineliners, and image described in alt text.)

It's a crime and travesty that I've drawn so little Star Trek, so I'm starting a series! I had to start with the original duo, of course, and the plan is to work my way through the rest of the captains next and then take requests.

Who would you like to see?

(A6 prints of these guys are already in my online shop, which you can find a link to in the pinned post on my blog.)

Every so often I remember how much I enjoy Kingsman in general and Harry Hart in particular and end up watching the church fight sequence on loop for a while, so here's a couple of screencap redraws feat. some style experiments with coloured fineliners!

(Drawn with a combination of Ohuhu, Winsor & Newton and Copic markers, plus Pigma Micron fineliners and a tiny bit of white gel pen)

I'm still figuring out how I want to draw Nightingale, so here's a couple of trial versions in colour!

I also did some style experiments with different coloured fineliners, and it doesn't scan as well as I'd hoped but I do like how the sepia and brown lines are a bit softer than the black ones so I'm definitely going to keep poking at that.

I've been getting increasingly obsessed with the Rivers of London books over the past few months, and since I'm always a sucker for sad immortals and mentor types I've also developed some pretty serious Blorbo Emotions about one Thomas Nightingale.

I filled a sketchbook page in the process of figuring out how I want to draw him, and I'm pretty happy with the face I've come up with. The smaller expression sketches were a bit more quick and experimental, but they're a decent place to start from. I need to figure out Peter and the rest of the gang as well, I want to do So Much art of these guys...

Hey folks,

A long term mutual and friend of mine (one of the first people to ever commission art from me, in fact) was in a serious car accident earlier this week, and is facing a long recovery and a lot of medical bills, so in order to help out I've set up a Ko-fi shop as a means of gathering donations. Katherine works with the Mars rovers and is hugely involved with the Star Wars costuming groups, so I've put together all my space-themed pride badges and made some new Star Wars ones especially. If you'd like to get some badges for yourself while also supporting a really lovely human being through a really rough time, please give it a look.

Here's a small selection of the button badges you can find there:

All the badges have a minimum price of 50p to cover the materials costs, and Ko-Fi has a pay-what-you-want feature that'll let you add any donation you feel able to give.

Here's the link to the GoFundMe set up for her medical bills, if you'd like to learn more about her situation and donate directly:

Thanks for reading, and please consider checking out some of the links and helping out if you can. Even just spreading this post around a bit or sharing the links with people who might be interested would be brilliant.

I started this screencap redraw more than a year ago when I first got really into Cobra Kai, but I'm actually glad I didn't finish it until now because I've really levelled up in marker rendering since then. I loved the lighting in this scene (on top of it being one of my many favourite friendship moments with these two), and I'm awfully proud of myself for actually managing to do it justice. Definitely click for full view, I put an awful lot of work into the details!

(I'll have prints of this with me at Scotland Comic Con this weekend, and they'll be up in my online shop soon after, so watch this space!)

Jack of Hearts, get it?

A new Captain Jack print has been on my to-do list for years, and I've finally gotten around to it because John Barrowman is going to be at Scotland Comic Con this year!! I'm really excited, he's on my very short list of people I'd bother to get an autograph from, and the plan is to take a copy of this print along and get it signed. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and the idea of showing it to the man himself is both daunting and very exciting at the same time

(There'll be prints of this one up in my online shop after the con this weekend - find the link on my blog!)

I don’t go to cons to “have fun” or “attend panels”. I go to cons to wader the artist alley in a daze and emerge hours later missing $200. I go to cons to think “hmm I should get some food. But the line is too long right now” every five minutes into perpetuity. I go to cons to say “you look so cool” at people in cosplay and have them not to hear me even a little bit.

Here's something a little bit different - Team RWBY, all drawn on different coloured paper!

I've been wanting to draw these guys with their vol7 onwards designs for ages, and I'm really pleased with how they turned out, from the weapons to the faces to the colours. It's been a good four years since I drew them all last, and it's really neat seeing how much my art has improved since then. The coloured paper also turned out to be really nice to draw on. I've had a lot of success drawing on brown paper, so I thought it would be fun to experiment with some other colours, and I'll definitely be doing it again.

Shoutout to @jookpubstock for the pose references that I used - they do brilliant work, and you should absolutely check them out.

(I'll be putting the prints of these in my online shop very soon - check out my blog for a link!)

Sometimes I get it into my head that it's a good idea to do something like draw every single Criminal Minds main character on a single piece of A5 paper - all of these faces are only a couple of centimetres tall! Some of the likenesses are better than others, but on the whole I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

When I had the idea, I decided it would be fun to riff on the mugshots in the opening sequence, plus greyscale-and-red is always a favourite colour scheme of mine.

I drew this one to sell as a print on my convention stall, and it's also available in my online shop - check out my blog for a link!

Continuing with the OC posting for #repostober, this is Arthur Fenn, a DnD vengeance paladin I'd love to get a chance to play someday.

He's one of the more intense characters I've come up with, although I reckon he's still slightly on the good side of neutral despite some slightly concerning vengeance-y tendencies. His secret backstory is that he was originally a general, and an Oath of the Crown paladin, but he failed to protect his kingdom and it fell, and so now vengeance is all he has left of the people and place that he loved. But for now, he's a simple sellsword looking to make some coin by joining an adventuring party, and any hit list that he may or may not have is his business, isn't it?

Personality-wise, he's the gentlemanly type who falls back on formal manners rather than dealing with feelings, and whether he'll admit it or not he's desperately searching for something or someone worth giving his loyalty to once again. He'd also quite like to find out what happened to his ex... something, a man called Cor who was away from the kingdom on a spying mission when it fell, and whose fate he still doesn't know... (And who I have a design for, but haven't drawn properly yet, something I ought to get around to.)

I thought I'd give #repostober a go and bring some old favourites back around, so here's my beloved old DnD character, Sam!

Dr Sammarion Harnendil, half-elf life cleric, is a character I'm hoping to get a chance to play again some day, because I'm very fond of him. He became a cleric by accident (something that involved a dying paladin on his operating table and a desperate moment of yelling at her god via her holy symbol), he'd much rather just be a doctor, but since he's got this magic now he figures he might as well use it to do good.

He's a total dad friend, hence the motivational poster, the sort of guy who always carries sweets in a pocket somewhere, compulsively helps anyone he comes across, and once managed to stop a fight between a barbarian and a paladin outside a tavern with nothing but the Very Disappointed In You voice. I miss him, he's a lot of fun.

Hi! Hope you're well! I was wondering if I could have permission to print your Plo Koon art? :)

Avatar

Hi! Thanks for asking, I'm so glad you like it that much! :)

I actually sell prints of a lot of my art over on Storenvy if you're interested in a printed version. You can find that Plo Koon (properly scanned rather than just a photo of the drawing) and a bunch of other Jedi from the same Inktober project here: https://spacecapart.storenvy.com/collections/1897642-star-wars
