So i grew up playing Jak and Daxter and i was insanely in love with the whole series. Still am. But a good rule to remember is that you can always critique a thing you love and BOY do i have some critique for JnD when it comes to designing the main three women in the game. They had a type, and that type was midriff shirts and boob socks.
The designs for prominent women in the games did evolve gradually, from Maia’s bra made out of copper to Rayn’s boppin’ business look. And Keira DID get a new outfit finally in Lost Frontier but … we don’t apparently talk about that game. So they did get better, yes, but it doesn’t mean that the main trilogy doesn’t scream “early 2000′s character design”.
I gave a try at redesigning the main trio women from Jak 2 and 3 in a way that reflects their roles a bit better: Keira, a genius mechanic now looks like a mechanic and Ashelin got a glow up a city police captain deserves. Tess is the only one whos appearance fits both her bubbly personality and occupations we see her in - but i still wanted a trio so i gave her a spin and leaned into the weapons smith side of her.
