Imagine Kyo fucking Sohma, a cursed zodiac member and resident standoffish cat boy, literally getting his usual hardened exterior wiped away by the mere fact that you just patted his head. Yeah, simply ruffling his hair a little bit and showing him some textbook affection in a way that won’t make him transform.

He doesn’t know what to do with himself, sitting in the living room of Shigure’s home while watching television. Out of nowhere you had mussed his hair, only pulling your hand away when you sat down beside him, and all Kyo knows is that his face feels unfathomably warm when the realization hits.
The poor guy is stammering with each word that clumsily stumbles from his mouth, and the only thing he can get out is a shaky, “what was that for?” whilst not even making eye contact with you.
“Nothing,” you responded casually — although his flustered state had quickly caught your attention. “I just wanted to play with your hair a little.”
It reminded him of the affection he would get from the Master as a kid, but with a lot more embarrassment this time around. And also…he kinda wanted you to mess with his hair again. That was definitely a new development.
“Could you, uh, do that more often?”
He asked it with such adorable hesitance that it could’ve given anyone heart palpitations. It was like he’d been reduced to an affection-seeking puppy—which was ironic, considering his role in the zodiac.
Regardless, how could you say no to that?
Quickly following his (cute as fuck) request, you placed a hand atop his head and began toying with his hair.
When I tell you this dork leaned into your touch without a second thought. His eyes fluttered closed and everything, and when he got comfortable enough he rested his head against your shoulder. Just…AGHHH
Also I will continue to hold the headcanon that this bitch practically purrs whenever shown affection. His contented hums and his cute little smiles make your heart warm beyond belief. Kyo’s mannerisms are just so reflective of his zodiac, it carries over no matter if he’s transformed or not. Compliment him a bunch and it becomes even clearer why he’s the cat of the group. He’ll grow incredibly flushed and will act like the attention is “too much”, but if you don’t tell him things often enough he’ll make it clear for you to continue.
“I didn’t mean you had to do it now, exactly. It was just a thought for future reference.”
“Do you want me to stop then?”
