almost every single shocking story about North Korea you have ever read (if not all of them) was either made up wholesale or sourced from North Korean defectors. these defectors are paid ludicrous sums of money by the South Korean government for their testimony, but that cash flow gets cut off if the defector comes across as even slightly sympathetic to their home country, which obviously leads to stories that make NK look good getting buried and stories that make them look bad getting spread to American media, regardless of how obviously fake they are, since anyone who questions them is obviously a fascist apologist who wants the world to get nuked.
i’m sure you already know this since you know so much about North Korea, but the US bombed almost the entire fucking country off the map and still holds annual military drills with South Korea in preparation to do it again right on the border as an intimidation attempt. if you can be cognizant of both of these facts and still take stories about officials being fed to 120 starving dogs at face value, you might be a fucking idiot
this documentary with interviews with north korean defectors whose experiences dont fit into the american anti-dprk narrative is really worth watching. they talk about what caused them to leave, how defectors are treated in south korea, and how south korean news offers defectors money and publicity to talk negatively about the dprk

there is no medical component to a trans kid transitioning
if a little trans boy comes out to his parents & is like 4 all youd do for his transition is cut his hair, buy a new wardrobe, & switch pronouns & possibly change names
no one is gonna put a little 4 year old on testosterone OR puberty blockers until theyre actually about to start puberty & then they give them a few years to really decide if they want to start hormones
a trans kid existing isnt “child abuse.” child abuse is refusing to let your kid live their lives as they truly are & forcing them to present as a gender they arent

Another cashier, in New Orleans, says her manager won’t let workers wear masks brought from home. Their choice is simple: Go to work and endanger themselves and their families. Stay home and risk their jobs. No one will pay the doctor bills for them. “Unemployed and [non-healthcare] essential workers are the most vulnerable [to Covid] given their lower income, lack of health insurance, and differences across household structures,” according to an analysis by the Brookings Institution of data collected between March and July. The disparities are “intensified” by race, it says. Though many are eligible for public healthcare, “Black and Hispanic essential non-health care workers report no health insurance coverage four times more often than white essential non-health care workers.” Says Suggs: “We’re not essential.
