The team has gone out for drinks after a stressful week, and this is a moment where Spencer finds that his willpower does not so easily overpower his desire. They’d chosen a kind of kitsch place, the kind where there’s couches where waitresses could bring you your drink under dimmed lights and music with cozy acoustic music played. Emily and Morgan were comparing conquests at their trip to the club the week prior, Penelope chiming in with warm support on either end. On the opposite table, Hotch and Rossi were discussing criminology in serious, even tones. 

And Spencer, well. He was well-occupied. 

His best friend is on the team, and he does not say that lightly. She’s earned her place in his heart, as hopelessly romantic as that makes him sound. But she did. He remembers the day he met her, warm tone seeped in patience and understanding. 

He remembers the sight of her like its engraved crystal, carved into the basis of his mind. Her delicate features distinct in their warm kindness. She’d offered her hand, shook it and giggled a sweet sound when he’d said it’d be safer to kiss. He’d blushed enough that his lack of flirtation in his intent was clear.

You were starting to drive him insane. Criminally insane. You could invade his thoughts at any waking moment of his day and take over his mind. Every affectionate pet name, every soft fleeting touch, hell every time you look at him, he would replay the moment in his mind like a broken record. If he was in a crowded room, his eyes would always fall on you. 

After being with the BAU for a while you became good friends with your coworkers. And with that, came your habit of calling your friends sweet nicknames. Anything from sweetie, to honey, to babes, and the one that broke his heart the most, my love. 

At first he didn’t understand why you were using terms of endearment that were typically used in a romantic relationship, but in a platonic way. At some point he caught on that you were similar to Garcia when it came to expressing your love for friends. Similar to her and the way she has her own sweet silly way of expressing how she cares.

In the earlier hours of the day, you were eager to take advantage of the pleasantly sunny Saturday you had off from work, meeting up for brunch with a few friends. Although you thoroughly enjoyed getting the chance to catch up over coffee and pastries (not forgetting to bring a sprinkled donut back for your boyfriend), the outing tired you out more than expected, and by the time you got back to your apartment you were putting all your efforts into persuading Spencer to take a nap with you.

It starts on one of the first mornings after you’ve moved in together: you have to leave before him and since he gets so few chances to sleep in, you feel too bad to wake him up. You leave a little sticky note on his end table, telling him you’re off to work, you’ll see him for dinner, and that you love him. You notice the note’s absence the next day but don’t think much of it, assuming that it served its purpose, and he tossed it after reading it.

Thinking of Spencer being the softest, sweetest, most gentle type of lover

The type that verbally expresses his love: never goes anywhere without telling you he loves you, never comes back without telling you he missed you. He never misses saying good morning or good night, kisses your forehead while doing so.

The type that thinks of you so often when you’re apart: brings you little trinkets or gifts because he thought you’d like them or they reminded him of you. He carries a picture of you in his wallet to have you close wherever he goes.

The type that is always there when you need him: letting you lean on him when you’re tired, placing a comforting hand over yours when he notices you’re feeling stressed, offering you his coat when you’re cold.

Spencer is so clingy and touchy once he gets comfortable and close enough with his partner I just know it. He's been so touch-starved his entire life, and now that he finally has somebody he feels safe and secure with, he just has to be as close as possible to you.

When you kiss, his hands are allll over you: your face, shoulders, waist, literally everywhere. He pulls you so impossibly close to him it's like he's trying to fuse with you and yet he's still trying to tug you closer. Even after you pull away from the kiss, he's pressing your foreheads together and bumping his nose against yours.

Almost every time you sit next to each other, his legs are brushing against yours. Will occasionally gently knock his shoe against yours if you're sitting across from him, and you can tell it wasn't an accident because he smiles at you dopily every time.

Can and will cuddle for hours straight if you let him, wrapping you up in his arms and pressing chaste kisses to any area of skin he can reach in whatever position you're cuddling in. He can't fall asleep without you touching or at least near him, if you have to get up he gets all pouty and waits for you to get back so he can hold you again.

I’m so obsessed with the idea of Spencer finally finding someone he feels comfortable around!! Someone who loves him for who he is!! Who’s actually interested in him and what he has to say!!

It’s a bit overwhelming for him in the beginning, starting on one of his infodumps and realizing that you’re still listening, genuinely interested and encouraging him to keep going. He’s so used to the annoyed “sorry I asked”s and the sarcastic “wow, so interesting”s, and he worries that it’ll always be like this.

But then he meets you! And here you are, trying on ridiculous Halloween costumes with him, helping him pick out his funky socks for the day, accompanying him to every film festival and convention. And here he is, smiley and heart-eyed as ever, getting emotional in the best way because wow this is his person!! and he loves you so so so much!!

He can let his guard down around you, not having to worry about being Genius Dr. Reid and getting to just be Spencer. Making his cheesy philosophy jokes, showing you his silly magic tricks, ranting about his favorite Doctor Who episodes or the book he’s currently reading.

You cuddle up with him on the couch while you’re watching one of his Russian Sci-Fi films together, you ask him to ramble because you love his voice, you kiss him after he finishes saying something super smart because he’s so ridiculously attractive when he talks and ugh, yeah. he loves you so much.

Spencer hugs you from behind all the time. Anytime you're doing anything, he's there.

Sometimes when you're cooking (and he's been banished from the kitchen because he's an actual fire hazard) he get's all sappy from the domestic bliss of it all that he just gets the overwhelming need to hold you. And he does. Even if you teasingly complain that he's distracting you and is going to burn the food (like you always do) he's still tucking his head into your shoulder and getting comfortable (like he always does.)

He doesn't take very long to get ready to sleep, so he normally ends up reading while he's waiting for you in bed. Sometimes, though, he gets sleepy and misses you (even though you're a single room away) and crawls out of bed to find you in the bathroom. He plays up his tiredness, leaning on you like he'd collapse if he didn't, placing his head on your shoulder and pouting at you in the mirror.

You're just trying to wash your face and he's all "Come to bed :( it's soo cold and lonely and I miss you :((" and you're like. Spence. It's been Three Minutes. but now he's kissing your cheek down to your jaw down to your neck and yeah, you guess your skincare can wait.
