Time Stands Still When You're Nowhere Bound

@snapbuttonsonadenimshirt / snapbuttonsonadenimshirt.tumblr.com

I still really have no idea what to put here. I'm a girl who can't write a good description at all and changes what I post about way too much. The only real constant here is Taylor Swift, so if you're following me for anything else I'm so sorry. Also if you follow me at all despite my description making skills you're amazing and I love you. I'm always happy to talk to people, so feel free to message me anytime :)

you. american adult with a drivers license. can you tell me who has the right of way at a 4 way stop

The strongest

this applies for both four way stop signs AND when traffic lights are malfunctioning i SEE that post where the traffic light is on fire and the caption says “they didn’t teach us what to do when this happens” or whatever. THEY DID

here are the rules for WA, at least how I was taught:

when you’re at a four way stop, whoever stopped first has right of way. it’s a stop sign. not that hard

if two people stopped at the same time, the person to the right of the other goes first, unless they’re parallel, in that case they can go at the same time unless one is turning left. if one’s turning left, that person waits.

if they’re both going left, it takes driver communication. waving, inching forward, things like that. yes, even though a lot of the other drivers are completely incompetent, you do need to cooperate with them.

if four people stop at the same time, it’s also dependent on driver communication, but it’s more complicated, because you have to keep track of more people. most likely someone will just take their chance and go. after one person has gone, the person to the right of them has right of way.

to wrap this up! i was extremely strange about driver’s ed and took more notes than i ever took in my life. i don’t think anyone other than me would ever remember all of this. please dear god just cooperate with the other drivers on the road, these rules don’t mean anything if people don’t remember them and people don’t. the rules aren’t there to get you arrested anyways! they’re there to keep you safe. just be careful, be safe, cooperate, and you’ll be fine.

anyway the actual point of fandom is to inspire each other. reading each other's fics and admiring each other's art and saying wow i love this and i feel something and i want to invoke this in other people, i want to write a sentence that feels like a meteor shower, i want to paint a kiss with such tenderness it makes you ache, i want to create something that someone else somewhere will see it and think oh, i need to do that too, right now. i am embracing being a corny cunt on main to say inspiring each other is one of the things humanity is best at and one of the things fandom is built for and i think that's beautiful

actually, i did want to ask you all - a commonly shared sentiment about character creators in games or dressup games online is there's very frequently a lack of black hairstyles.

so it made me curious - what are some black hairstyles you wish would be included more in character creators/dressup games? or ones you get really happy to see are included?

went to the grocery store yesterday and saw they had some cheddar cheese on sale. i noticed a middle aged woman filling her entire hand basket with these discounted aged cheddar blocks, hand movements frantic and eyes set with determination. i reached over and grabbed a block from the discount bin. she snapped out of her reverie and quietly asked “do you want some more?” i said no i only want one block. she looked horrified. are you sure, she asked. yeah, i responded, plunking the block in next to my spinach. she began explaining that she and her friends really like this particular cheese. she sounded horrified. she was stumbling on her own words. i left quickly, feeling like i walked into something i shouldnt have seen. a private moment between this woman and her cheeses. i hope she is doing okay and is eating her cheese.

actually im eating my cheese now and honestly i understand her, this cheese SLAPS

The threead continues:

All people have a tendency to be unconsciously biased toward seeing trans women as untrustworthy, unsafe, lacking vulnerability, the problem to be solved rather than a person to be taken care of. And this is not less true in trans and queer and feminist communities. It’s just more unconscious, and more propped up with social justice, feminism, queer lib, leftist, and anti-oppression beliefs. This book is talking about this in context to a physical public situation of harassment, but this is true of social conflicts too, including on social media, in friend groups, in all kinds of situations. The unconscious bias also gets taken advantage of by people who know what they’re doing and hide behind that bias to make their mistreatment of transfems seem reasonable—again, often supported with social justice and anti-oppression rhetoric. TERFs aren’t the only people who do this! It felt so incredible to see this spelled out in print, plain as day, an actual book calling out a real thing I’ve experience more times than I can count, that all transfems I know go through, and that I still feel crazy for seeing because there’s so much gaslighting about it. You know how when you KNOW something is real, but you feel defensive about that knowledge, like you have to be ready to hold onto it, and then you see something confirming that knowledge for you in no uncertain terms and it feels like “wow maybe I wasn’t crazy all this time!” That’s how I felt seeing this.

The book linked is free to read and download. See the link above.

if you’re a transfem you should read this, and if you’re not you should reblog it for your transfem friends & followers, the advice in here is extremely good and the grips breaks are not hard to practice!!
