pre / during / post vinyasa yoga session!

I signed up for this class last min and WOW it was so tough but so so good! I’m so proud that I carved the time out of my day to get out of my comfort zone with my first class at the gym! ✨

catching up on my fav youtube channels and drinking the most delicious smoothie full of spinach, soy milk, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries, maca powder, flax seed, a lil bit of crunchy peanut butter, chia seed, hemp seeds, ag1 and my fav vegan vanilla protein powder (@stackofpaperbacks I still use the fermented one you suggested yeaaars ago!) and lots of ice! its sooooooo good

I keep thinking of hobbies I should try and then I do absolutely nothing. Why

this was me too for the longest time (literally 3 years of thinking wow I’d love to sign up for a pottery wheel class and wow I’d love to sign up for a gym) and I was a master at talking myself out of it

here are all the excuses I came up with!

  • too expensive
  • too self indulgent
  • i’d have to spend 30 min commuting to do these things each way
  • would my partner be offended that i’m doing these things in the evenings rather than hang with him (spoiler: he was not offended lol)
  • what if I try and fail
  • what if I spend the money on these things and not go

at some point it became too mentally painful to not do it and in one case I signed up for an intro session at the gym I was most interested in (not the cheapest but the one I could realistically and logistically want to go to) and for pottery as soon as I got the email saying they’re taking $100 off the intro class (and amazingly had weekday evening slots still open!!) I took it as a sign and signed up without giving me time to overthink

and so far they’ve been amazing additions!! there are some days where I can hear my mind talking me out of it but I focus on how good I feel afterwards and honestly just push those negative thoughts out of my head and it’s been a practice but starting to work 🥰 and nick has commented how much happier I have seemed in the past few weeks starting all these things!

also seeing my friends having babies and STILL making time for doing the things they love (even tho they’re super busy with new responsibilities!!) really put things in perspective for me and our current lifestyle (dinkwads ✌🏻)

ok stepping off my soapbox now!

yesterday!

  • ton of work meetings! finished the last couple of performance review deliverables and now just need to wait until the first week of june 🥹
  • took ted for a fun walk and then got dressed and went to the GYM (very proud of myself!!)
  • nick was so cute and texted me that he could pick me up on the way home (literally it’s so far out of his way but he’s the sweetest 🥹)
  • had the most relaxing shower while we put the rice cooker on!
  • nick made this delicious thai curry while I perused the sephora site for their sale and proceeded to place my biggest order ever haha
  • we did a few wedding related admin items and decided to add a string duo to play during the ceremony and cocktail hour 🥹🥹
  • watched a few episodes of drive to survive which was soooo good!
  • went to bed - our bedtime tradition is to race each other through the NYT daily games (sudoku, mini crossword and wordle) and proud to say I crushed it last night hahaha love a sub-2 min sudoku 💅🏻
  • a lovely start to the week!
