im not scared of my own desires. i sabotage myself to make sure i never get what i want for unrelated reasons.
Sometimes it's useful to look at your dialogue and ask yourself, "would a real human being talk like that?" But it's also good to ask the follow-up questions of "would the way a real human being talks sound good here" and "does this character actually talk like a real human being or are they weird about it."
since my other blog got tanked, here are some of the Hannibal-themed embroidery hoops i’ve made 🦌🔪🩸
This is obviously not finished. I might remake it at some point when I have time, but I doubt /this/ version will be continued
I'm a cryptid in Stardew valley. I live on the outskirts of town. I disappear for days on end, purchasing daily one-way tickets to the calico desert. Nobody knows where I go while I'm there. Can occasionally be found fishing at random spots throughout town. I am never not running on at least one triple shot espresso. I take the abandoned minecarts to get around and am frequently seen disappearing into the sewers. I carry a sword for some reason. Once every week or two I will stride into your bedroom to deliver you your favorite meal. I'm a self-made millionaire. I attend all the town events and will go to your concert in the next town over. I have donated approximately 2583 items to the local museum and singlehandedly revitalized the town community center. There are rumors I can talk to junimos. I'm friends with the local wizard

A.I. photos are flooding social media and contributing to an Internet where we can't believe what we see. Spotting A.I. 📷s is an important media literacy skill.
None of us have time to research every image we see. We just need people to notice BEFORE THEY LIKE OR SHARE that an image might be fake. If unsure, check it or don't share.

I am so bewildered, gobsmacked, dumbfounded by Brennan's incredible improvisational narrative abilities.
There was NO WAY he could have foreseen Murph rolling a nat 20 investigation on the hallow. NO WAY to know they'd find the rage God's name like this that would set off a series of horrifying events. NO WAY he knew that all the Bad Kids would jump into Riz's brief case to avoid whatever all that was.
But somehow Brennan ties it all back to Fig and her bedroom which has a PREMADE GRAPHIC ready to go! I shouldn't be surprised at this point but, man, can Brennan weave such an intricate, chaotic, and beautiful story
but also can we talk about how seemingly none of the other bad kids know how big of a deal baron was for riz. Like they know he kidnapped him and they fought them, but did “a very private boy” riz gukgak ever tell them about his experience in the nightmare forest? Did he ever explain the extent of his insecurities that baron represents? Do they know that baron is a manifestation of what riz in sophomore year believed to be too different about himself that he needed to like about it? DO THEY KNOW?!!?!!??
I hate Kipperlilly - but this level of nickname shenanigans would have killed me on the spot in high school
No nuance allowed. Put your nuance in the tags, I just want a yes or no answer

in Disco Elysium I was expecting there to be some kind of “addiction mechanic” that would add a long-term downside to taking drugs, and was surprised not only by the absence of any such mechanic but also that the benefits of drugs greatly outweighed the cost. anyways fast forward to the late game and I was downing three bottles of pyrholidon and smoking an entire pack of cigarettes before attempting any check, and it was only then I realized there was in fact an addiction mechanic
honestly, i think this is why i like the way the game handles substances so much. when i was looking up playthroughs of disco elysium i stumbled across one subreddit thread where someone asked “gameplay wise, is there any point to staying sober?” and just looked at it. like, yeah. yeah, exactly. we know that harry often does drugs specifically so that he can take on a superhuman caseload - as he puts it to kim, to be a “really good detective”. it was so chilling to see a player asking the same exact question that harry would probably be asking himself. without an external punishment mechanic, without being heavy handed about it, and in a way that (as OP pointed out) is so natural as to be almost unnoticeable, it manages to put the player exactly in his shoes as a recovering (or not recovering) addict. it’s a really well-designed mechanic
“Things are harder without this substance, so there’s no reason for me to abstain” being a purely Player-Driven interaction is a phenomenal addiction mechanic. Absolutely fucking gorgeous.
