I’ve been neglecting my tumblr a bit over the past months. I keep meaning to revamp it but things get in the way. Story of my life, anyhow this is a piece I did for the Gravity Falls show at Gallery Nucleus. This was a fun piece to execute, and by fun I mean tricky. It’s mixed media and measures about 30 cm by 30cm. It’s still up so check it out if you’re in Los Angeles. This was my favorite scene in the show so I’m happy I got to capture it for this very special show.

Hey guys, I have been live streaming while I draw and paint with Lynn Wang for the past couple of weeks. It’s been fun, we’ve pumped out a lot of personal pieces in a short amount of time. This is one of my favorites so far, gotta love Princess Bubblegum! Check us out on Tuesday nights sometimes we give stuff away and are always answering all kinds of questions. I used opaque watercolors for this one on watercolor paper. Trying all kinds of things these days!

I thought I’d do a post about the design of this little figure. I spent a lot of time dreaming up what this character might look like and then designing it into a figure. Getting the freedom to design a black doll that had black features was a big part of why I loved this project. Often other ethnicities aren’t properly represented in toys because of costs, but this was a really important thing to all of us at Goldie Blox and getting to execute on that vision was phenomenal for minority like myself.
It takes a lot of time and math to get these things right, and the involvement of many talented individuals. I was lucky to work with an the amazing toy director of Goldie Blox at the time Clint Cope, a great sculptor by the name of Jason Loik and a very passionate hair designer by the name of Karyn Byrd from Natural Girls United.
I’ve detailed some of the steps that go into making these, but there are many more int he entire manufacturing process, the initial creative looks funner in a tumblr post though. It takes about a year to complete one of these so it’s a very long process, but very satisfying when you finally see it on the shelf. Needless to say I’m excited to see it out in the world! More to come on a lot of what I worked on and created at my time at Goldie Blox.

This is what cool looked like in 1998. I was going through old stuff, cause you know nostalgia, and I was inspired to draw a cosmic girl. Part part raver, candy skater, and go go dancer all the fun stuff about being a teenager at the end of the 90′s. Anyways hope the tumblr world isn’t too young to get it, if you are google Delia*s it’s all there.
I did this Illustration for #meettheartist yesterday. I think you can gather what I’m about from this, it has mostly likes cause I guess there isn’t a lot I don’t like except for waking up in the mornings. I really hate waking up, but who likes it!? Weirdos probably.
I also made a less wordy version with the thing I love most of all… SALAMI… all hail the king of cured meats. Okay soo I think I gotta call other artists out but I’ll do that on instagram. Oh and my dog actually looks like that, it’s crazy she’s like a walking teddy bear.
