Confirmed on the skin

So it’s been a long fandom accepted thing that circuits/light lines are not just a part of the suits but are on programs skin. This is a little thing I absolutely adore in art and fics, and do myself.

But I was never completely sure if there was anything in canon considering light suits are pretty conservative (until legacy). But there is!!

Sarks Lieutenant(?) Appears to have a shorter neck on his suit than is standard, or extra circuitry on the neck. (It could simply be a coloring error but I don’t think that’s true as we also see it black/uncolored/unilluminated) in multiple shots. When I started to notice it was towards the end of the movie.

I just love that really fun little details like the “mood ring” circuits (shining/diminishing with emotion) and them being on the skin itself are a completely canon thing. It adds so much to the world, it’s fun.

A little bit more of a teaser of my art for Always: A Cindy Morgan Zine organized by @cindymorganzine that is available now while the collected donations go to Girls Who Code charity!

And honestly I'm so happy with it. Lineart was finished like years ago and it was sitting in my actual wip folder since then (and believe me, there are only like 2-3 other things like this, rest is conveniently thrown to be forgotten and forever unfinished in the archives) so I'm so grateful for the motivation this wonderful zine initiative gave me.

And to be honest I missed tronblr 💙

I just had a conversation where @neonsheepe postulated that Users in the system automatically survive by "pure luck"

And as silly as this seems, the idea of User-power bending the grid's very laws of probability is.... strangely compelling to me, lol

my first response was: omg. "User power = Luck" adds a whole new dimension to my 1982 headcanons

This is why Ram was the one to notice "there's something different about" Flynn

TRON: i am security monitor. my job is to notice anything unscheduled coming into the system. yeah this guy might be weird but i have not really thought about it, i got bigger things to worry about

RAM: tron. tron. this man fucks with my actuary-ing. i try to calculate probabilities around him and he breaks them. tron this guy is a statistical fuckin anomaly TRON LISTEN TO ME

The production value here is off the charts but this is also literally just what it feels like to play Uno.

What’s really killing me is the storyline here. One of the friends is delighted to absolutely eviscerate him, whereas the other one looks pained. And there is a subtle overlay of Thanos’ line, “I’m sorry, Little One.”

While one member of the game revels in the destruction of his opponent, the other regrets it. But only for a moment. Just as quickly, he begins to smile. Was the regret mocking? Or did his mask slip…. What is their history? What are their bonds? And why is one of them so gleeful to sever them? What brought them to this moment…

Why Alan couldn’t cut it-

Image

I’m not beating the “is obsessed with the 82’ novelization accusations, this is my 5th time reading it. In my defense it’s great and adds a lot of detail, anyways.

The way it talks about Alan and his morals really struck me. They put him into a great contrast with Dillinger and even Flynn, who ultimately does good but is a bit looser when it comes to following rules. The paragraph says it better than I’m going to but his decision to go along with the break in plan comes simply because he feels what’s happening at ENCOM is wrong. Someone has to do something, Alan waits before acting himself sees if anyone attacks from a legal Avenue. A “someone will” attitude, because he has so much faith in others that he knows it’s not just him who will see a issue and want to do something about it. Not him but someone will… unfortunately we don’t live in a world with many “doers”. His decision to go along with the break in is a spur of the moment, he’s struck with sympathy for Flynn and his already existent frustration and sense of wrong. It’s probably one of the first times he doesn’t talk himself into backing down.

Alan is a good man. A honest man and a hard worker who’s faith in others is a bit higher than they deserve. He’s a rarity! A honest, rule following businessman. That’s why he could never last at the top of ENCOM, in “the last day” short film and likely the Flynn lives campaign there’s a brief mention of Alan being a Temp CEO while Flynn was missing. This was a very brief period in the 90s that quickly saw him pushed back down onto the board and basically being expected to shut up. Almost a quite firing. He’s not cut out for the cutthroat corporate game - he’s good at deals and explaining what they do but that only gets you so far… I can also see why from a talk perspective. In the Paranoids online mini video he absolutely flounders until Lora swoops in to save him. He’s not exactly Flashy Kevin flynn who could go “woof” into the mic and make the crowd go wild.

Additionally I love how much this puts him into contrast with Tron. For all the things that make Alan weak in the business world are what make Tron the admirable chosen warrior, the noble hero, within the grid. Here all of the best aspects of Alan are commemorated. That honesty, faith and stalwart behavior are better suited for the mythical other world of fairytale endings. Good conquers evil, the MCP explodes and the end. In the real world? Good luck, good guys can’t seem to win anymore.

I just love how Rinzler is standing. Clu repurposed Tron, gave him trauma and apparently also neck problems.

This scene with his little bow and then the awkward ready predator position he goes back to makes me crazy every time.

Clu really did turn him into into an attack dog. Not just a silent non thinking soldier like we see with almost all the other repurposed programs. There’s something like barely restrained violence in his posture, the way in other scenes how he’s either staring right at Sam or Clu or observing the environment.

Like look at that!!! That is a predator just waiting for the order to bite or fetch.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION ABOUT BISEXUALITY

that purple in the middle is not the right saturation, it doesn't fit with the other two colors and it drives me crazy.

all right, I think I got this, I've got dual citizenship and I have another flag we can borrow from:

step 1

step 2

step 3

This is true bi/ace solidarity.

  1. swapped purple in bisexual and asexual flags for better saturation matching and color theory

Tron uprising had some really cool character design but for quoras adaptation it was just like "🤷‍♂️ Olivia Wilde?" and shes great but it always bothered me that The Last Iso (& isos in general) neve got like. Fun designs. (except for gibson, i guess.)

anyways. ive been thinking about that and also drew these:

I know everyone's excited that Jeff Bridges is in the next Tron in some capacity, but I will honestly not give a good goddamn about that if they don't resolve what the fuck happened to Tron in the Sea of Simulation.

welp I just bummed myself out further:

Even less of a chance of TRON IN A TRON MOVIE now, unless they recast the voice/actor.

... and will they not even mention/show Alan Bradley or the board of ENCOM then? Or perhaps they'll say he was ousted after Legacy offscreen or some crap...
