“—And then Tania said ‘you might want to focus a little more on your toe loops.’ Like, my toe loops have been nearly perfect since fifth grade, I don’t need her telling me in that condescending voice of hers what I need to work on, especially when she’s not even right.” Hazel ranted heatedly to her mother, complete with hands flying this way and that and brows furrowed in anger.

Letting a frustrated huff and returning her attention to her school assignment, Hazel rolled her eyes. “And if I did have something I needed to work on, the couch would definitely let me know. I’m not the one who’s constantly falling when I do my triple Salchow’s, Tania is.”

SO JUST AS A HEADS UP

I have plans to add Hazel to this blog as a side character! She will have all sorts of different verses, including ones that range from her being a child (8-11), to a teen (13-17), to her being a young adult (20-22). THIS DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT SHE IS A BABY IN ALL OF DAVID’S VERSES!! And those that have interacted with her as a baby in David’s verses are more than welcome to interact with Hazel when she’s older, either with their own older characters, or like they’ve never met her before, it makes no difference to me. I will be making a notice on her about to make sure no one gets confused about her being an adult in her main verse and a baby in all of David’s verses, but yeah, just wanted to put this here as a quick thing to let you guys know. c:

        “Wow, I can barely handle my daughter, it must be quite the trip to have two little ones.” Part of him was kind of envious. At times, it felt like he had so much love to give, it was too much for just Hazel. Of course, it would be a while before David had another child, if he ever did, and even if he didn’t he was happy with having Hazel. He offered the mother a smile, Hazel strapped to his chest and offering the other baby girl a curious sort of coo. “The name’s David, and this is Hazel. Do you mind if I ask how old your little ones are?” Her son looked like he was at least three, but it was better to ask than assume.

“Hey, uh, Baby right?” He still felt the nickname a little awkward, but that didn’t stop David from offering the younger a smile, Hazel cooing excitedly at the sight of him. “Funny running into you again. I think you awakened something in Hazel though. After she saw you she’s been grabbing at every pair of earrings she can get her little hands on. Cute, at least until someone accused me of using her to steal at a store. I mean, it was still cute, but.” He shrugged and let out a quiet chuckle, bouncing his daughter.

“How have you been?”

“I am so, so sorry to bother you but would you mind just um—” David winced as Hazel let out another blood curdling scream, tears streaming down her flushed cheeks. Listening to her made David want to cry, but he knew he needed to keep it together. 1. Because they were in public, and no one wanted to watch a grown man break down in tears, and 2. because his baby needed him. Clearing his throat, he turned so his side, and the diaper bag hanging off his shoulder, was facing the girl.

“Would you mind just reaching in there, a-and handing me a bottle? It’s past her feeding time and I’d do it myself but...” He trailed off, looking hopeless as he bounced his crying newborn, hands occupied with trying to calm down his daughter.

“Evelyn? How’s it going?” He greeted the young lady with a bright smile, and just like their first meeting he had his baby daughter strapped to his chest. She was currently preoccupied with a colourful, ring shaped toy that resembled a bug. It rattled and made a scrunching sound every time she moved or gnawed on it, and she was quite pleased by that. David didn’t mind, at least it kept her occupied while he tried to get his shopping down.

“Did your brother end up enjoying the cereal you picked out?” He recalled her making a comment about how her brother behaved more like someone David’s age, which was still funny to imagine, but he hoped he’d managed to help her find a cereal her brother would enjoy.

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION VERSE.

David was living a humble life as a cook for a local tavern when the Breach ripped open the sky, and the Inquisition raised their banners again. His wife left him to travel outside of Ferelden in hopes of escaping the Breach and realising it was the perfect excuse to abandon what she considered a ‘horribly miserable, boring life’ being a mother at David’s side to their newborn daughter Hazel. Months passed before David made the decision to travel to Skyhold with Hazel in tow, wanting protection for his daughter in exchange for helping however he could.

Currently he works as a cook for the Inquisition with some basic sword and shield training, giving the Inquisitor the option to bring him along on missions, although why they would want to do that he’s not quite sure.
