                   It felt like the whole world has disappeared for a short moment, leaving him in a pit of darkness. Curious eyes were slowly opening, getting used to the daylight. The first thing that Light observed was his own terrible headache, followed by the unfamiliar surroundings. Everything was painted in white, just like the inside of an average hospital. The boy’s gaze settled on the person sitting on a chair next to him - a young woman with blonde hair and a peaceful vibe around her.

                                   ❝ This building is a hospital, isn’t it? ❞

                 Working in an actual hospital was quite the change of pace when compared to Irie Clinic. It wasn’t too chaotic, but compared to anything in Hinamizawa, it was certainly busy. Plus, they were short-staffed enough to have called her in to assist with patients. She’s taking to moment to sit, clipboard balancing on her crossed legs, as she looks over the papers on the boy in front of her ( it seems he’d passed out due to EXHAUSTION ) when she hears him speak. 

                     “ It is. ” A kind smile lights up her face as she looks up to answer. “ How are you feeling? ”

SILKEN IRISES, WARM AND CRUEL like a velvet slipknot, would display all his sudden surprise as those words of her reached his ears, eyelids widening imperceptibly until a spark of amusement gleamed in the bottomless mahogany color, shelter of wickedness — amusement that drew a chuckle of mockery from his smirking lips, only elegance holding it back from becoming a proper laughter. Gods? They had become gods? Foolish human, pitiable child – alas, your blind eyes cannot discern an actual divinity even when are were right beneath your stare. Humans, by nature, were the farthest being from deities to ever walk the universe; so despised by the lieutenant, albeit he himself had been one long time before that girl was even born. 

And she flaunted the bravery of calling herself a god? Laughable. Certainly, if she were to speak her thoughts out loud, he would have agreed with the view of the so-called deity above them both seemed to despise. Hideous, despicable creature he had started to hate before he had even the strength of raising his head to look at the stars. Whoever called Him pure mercy, and praised His infinite goodness, would have cowered in despair and cursed Him when they would have been left to rot on the bare, hellish ground. Heavens or DEATH — she seemed to have understood the rules of the game. 

“ Gods? How pretentious. Surely, you’are an amusing to one, human. ” steps that followed each other brought him closer to her, his height allowing him to look down upon the mortal as a god would do – lips adorned by a smirk of supremacy parted slowly, calmly. “ However, that’s incorrect. Whatever you achieve, when you die, it is all over. That’s why gods are immortal. ” a pause. Fingertips at the hilt of his sword. “ Killing you seems the best option, yet rules forbid it. The question is whether I want to respect the rules or not. ”

            Brows furrowed in anger at his MOCKERY. This was her life’s work, everything she had done since the day she had taken on the name of Takano Miyo had been for the day she could finally revel in the success of achieving godhood and complete the dream her grandfather had started years ago. And this stranger was attempting to tell her that it was all for NOTHING.

             “With all I’ve done here....there’s no way anyone could mock grandfather’s research anymore. We’ll be IMMORTALIZED with this." Everyone would remember the Takano name and their work long after even she was gone, she was sure of this. “That’s what it truly means to become Gods.” She nearly forgets the fear building in her chest for just a moment, too distracted by her determination to DEFEND all her hard work.

              Though when her gaze drops to the hand resting against his sword, and she remembers the ease with which he had CRUSHED her bullet, scattered the broken pieces to the ground like it was nothing, her nerves stand on edge again. She had thought she’d be satisfied with her life once she’d lived out the PURPOSE she had given herself, but she didn’t want to die.

            Mercy was not something she was familiar with ( at least, not fully. maybe----just maybe----she had been showing her own form of mercy when she had shot the young Houjo girl through the head. when she’d saved her the endless AGONY of becoming a living test subject. ) so she would not beg him for it. Begging had never done her, nor anyone else, any good. Instead, she would offer him a CHALLENGE. Just as she had offered the God that she now thought had sent this nonhuman stranger.

           If it was her fate to die in these woods at the slash of his sword, she would turn it around again.

[♤] Holy shit. So, I had absolutely no idea that I’d make it this far so quickly–I put it all together what, less than a month ago–and I’m already having the time of my life writing Shion; which is all because of you guys. From the bottom of my heart (and Shion’s), I’d like to say thank you.

I’m also making this as a little notice: from now until the beginning of February, I’m going to be on a semi-hiatus as I’m going to have to do a lot of studying. I’ll still be here, but much less active.

            ‘ – E X C U S E   M E                          have you seen a cat around here? ’ tohru said with worry in her voice to the stranger. she had just seen it! ‘ – it’s small, a kitten, white with a black spot over it’s eye? ’ 

                “Oh no, have you lost your cat?” The sweet tone she speaks in is the same as when she’s playing her role as a nurse, speaking kind words to injured kids and sickly elders. “I haven’t seen one around here, I’m sorry.” No offer to help search, though. She didn’t like to waste her time.
