I find it fascinating and baffling how mamy people out there seem to follow you and read enough of your posts to know things that are happening in your life and STILL assume you're American. It comes up that you are not like every day???

On Tumblr there will always be someone to assume that you are American

The homo americanus is so used to being dominant in its territory that when it spots a homo australis, it attacks it in confusion.

It's why we evolved camouflage abilities like "call our currency the same thing" to hide safely among them. Unfortunately, certain vestigial traits from our primary cultural ancestor, like including the letter U in our words, can give us away and put us at risk.

My favorite meme is “anime girls photoshopped into desolate Eastern-European photos”

This last one is my favorite:

There’s just something so… desperate about it.

Two oof these images might have came from the area where my grandmother lived. One of them evokes images of a good friend of theirs.

It is an odd coziness.

Apart from the abandoned school, how are these desolate? They’re just people in homes??

Desolate (american): when a place looks slightly worn down and it’s an overcast winter’s day so it’s kinda dark and grey.

We have been trained to subconsciously recognize everything that looks like it could somehow be related to Russia in some way as depressing, sad, miserable, and “God I’m glad I don’t live there”

They’re just homes! Aside from that schoolroom they’re not even abandoned, there’s like dishes on the rack and food on the table and stuff! The only ‘desolate’ thing I can find in any of these is that one of them might need some new wallpaper! In what way is that last one ‘desperate’ it’s just a kitchen I am so confused! The breakfast being cooked in the photo is fancier than my breakfast!

this is just what houses in cities look like. every city looks like this.

Not even just cities! I live in rural Australia and either of those kitchens could be mine.

Both of those kitchens have nicer dishes than mine

Some of you don't have firm principles that transcend ideology, and it shows.

"Spreading blatant misinformation is okay when it supports a cause I care about, and if anybody corrects me, it means they do not share my values." 🤡

"Police brutality is okay if it's being carried out by a government ascribing to my preferred political philosophy." 🤡

"If this person has harmful views, then my criticism of them can't be [racist/sexist/homophobic/transphobic/antisemitic/Islamophobic/classist/ableist/etc]." 🤡

Like, please, I'm begging you guys to invest in some basic standards.

This is what happens when we base morality on who does certain actions instead of basing it on that of the actions themselves.

that comment about how you should not borrow grief from the future has saved me multiple times from spiraling into an inescapable state of anxiety. like every time i find myself thinking about how something in the future could go wrong i remember that comment and i think to myself: well i never know, it might get better. it might not even happen the way i think it will and if it does happen and it is sad and bad ill be sad about it then, when it happens. and it’s somehow soo freeing

Happy tenth birthday to The Kelpies.

The Kelpies, located in Falkirk, tower a colossal 30 metres above the Forth and Clyde Canal and form a dramatic gateway to the canal entrance on the East Coast of Scotland. Created by Scotland's leading sculptor Andy Scott, The Kelpies are a monument to horse powered heritage across Central Scotland.

Some details of the Kelpies, each structure contains approximately 18,000 individual pieces. There is over 1.5 miles of steel in each structure. They each weigh over 300 tonnes and sit on 1,200 tonne foundations. Each structure has 464 steel plates In a monumental feat of engineering, The Kelpies rose from the ground in just 90 days, in late 2013.

Nearly one million people visited the Kelpies sculptures in Falkirk in the first year, since then the visitor numbers have declined, but still have numbers of over 500,000 a year

Some people criticise the cost of The Kelpies, said to be around £5 million, to me it is justified, it does bring a lot of people into the area of Falkirk in general, and are we to be the generation that forgets about public art just because of the costs? I love them and have visited them to many times to remember of the years, I may not be in Falkirk now, but I will take a trip to The Helix again and grab more pics, enjoy a coffee and take in the views over to The Ochils.

This saturday the Helix is hosting a tenth party to celebrate their birthday, the day event is free for all to attend and includes a producers market, face painters, Clydesdale Horse Demonstrations, Pipe Bands and much more. The evening event is ticked and you have performances by Rebecca Vasmant, Callum Beattie, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, and much more., there are still some tickets available.

The last three pics were taken by myself on this day 2020.
