Flowers
Amajiki Tamaki X Fem!Reader
His eyes glanced at every single person on the streets near him with steady vigilance. Even just a mere brushed against his skin can cause him to envision the future of the person who came in contact with him. Although he would be unfazed by the future scenes that will unravel in his mind, he didn't like the idea of being related to a stranger by just some visions he saw; in fact, he despised it with every fiber of his being.
Tamaki was used to seeing miserable ends after all; what can bother him more?
He was observant, but he could overlook other details. When he turned his head straight in front of him, a blurry figure came rushing against him. Before he could react or move away at the least to avoid the full impact, his vision went pitch black.
"I'm sorry!" a girl squeezed out an apology despite falling so abruptly that caused her body to crash against the rough cement-like ground with no cushion to soften the fall. At the same time, Tamaki's vision came back slowly.
He saw the distinctive features of the girl clearly once the two of them stood up. Her hair was tousled messily from the fall; her bright eyes reflected embarrassment from bumping into him. He was sure that the girl was a student in his school. It was (Y/N), Flattering her status on the campus is the title of student council president; this didn't hinder her true soft-hearted nature to continue serving her fellow students. She was one of the few student leaders who still looked at themselves as the same as any students with no title in the academy.
For that slight moment, Tamaki forgot he was bestowed with the unfortunate ability to steal a vision of their future.
"I need to get going, I'm so sorry!" (Y/N) waved her hand and ran away to the direction she was rushing to.
When Takami arrived in his empty dorm room, his head started to throb in pain; his eyesight began to flicker from black to white and blur to clear. He hastily closed the door of the entrance and stumbled along the way to his bed. In an instant, future visions about the girl flashed in front of his very own eyes. The sudden flashes caused him to staggered the remaining steps to his 'safe haven'. His breath began to get ragged, and sweat started forming on his forehead. He saw different kinds of visions in his whole life. However, his body was still trying to cope with the peculiar process with the said visions happening when the body wasn't built to sustain the mental exhaustion caused by the phenomenon.
As if nothing happened, Tamaki blinked a few times and changed his direction from the bed to the communal washroom of the dorm. Judging by how early he came back, there were little to no people around, assuring him from any anxiety to interact any people. He nipped without showing the side effects in his expression, but his facial appearance said otherwise. He was still bundled up with sweat; faddy black eyebags surrounded his muted indigo eyes, and skin looked pale as snow. The rush of cold water came out from the mouth of the faucet, and he began to wash his face both from sweat and from exhaustion.
The next day, Tamaki woke up earlier than his usual alarm. He kept a mental reminder that he was going to a particular store before going to UA.
"Why am I doing this?" he asked himself quietly when he came out from a humble flower shop near his apartment. He wasn't the type to send such objects, especially if they would only wither in the end. Somehow, he couldn't help but keep a firm resolution that he was going to bring the flower to school.
"A flower?" (Y/N) was surprised to see Kade, the same boy who she embarrassingly bumped into the other day, went to the same academy as her. She looked down at the flower he was holding out with his outstretched hand. Considering what had happened, she was the one who was supposed to send an apology gift. Tamaki couldn't think straight for a split second when (Y/N) expressed her confusion. It would've been easier if she just accepted it and went along her merry and dutiful way to welcome students in the entrance. He brooded and hid his face as much as he could with his free hand.
"I-I thought that you might be stressed out from your work, and you needed things to cheer you up," he said quietly while dodging her attentive look. (Y/N)'s confusion slowly turned into delight.
"Oh...Thank you so much!" she chimed and accepted the iris flower with glee.
"And your name is...?" she spoke with a small ghostly smile laid on her mouth.
"Thank you so much, Tamaki, My name is (Y/N)!" he nodded and just went to his assigned classroom with an awkward air around him. (Y/N) grinned as she examined the Iris Flower; it was the first time that somebody gave her one. She brushed her finger on the petals of the flower and thought,
'What's the real purpose of the flower?'
"Is Tamaki-senpai around?" the voice of the student council president came out from the door of a classroom when the school bell rang for a break. Kade went pale when he heard her loud yet smooth voice inquiring for him as he huddled himself by the corner of the classroom. His classmates began to whisper among themselves and eventually turned to his direction. Feeling the burning gazes around him, he looked up from his notebook to see what he felt. He averted his eyes finally from (Y/N) and tried to act as if nobody was looking at him with mixed emotions.
"Here he is!" one of his friends, Mirio chirped while waving his hand enthusiastically. (Y/N) grinned and skipped as she made her way to the small group.
"Hey, aren't you the student council president? You sure are lucky to be one seeing as you're still a second year!" she pinched (Y/N)'s cheeks with a gleeful and childlike aura surrounding her.
"Yup, I sure am!" (Y/N), somewhat unaware that she was talking to the Big Three of UA. She could feel an air of superiority lingering around them but decided it was just something else.
"Hey, I saw you looking at me earlier, why avoiding now?" (Y/N) suddenly spoke to Tamaki that caught him by surprise. She poked his forearm jokingly when he tried to hide his embarrassed face in between his arms.
"Tamaki's a lil shy, hope that you'll take care of him!" Mirio's eyes shined bright along with his wide smile. (Y/N) paused for a while and chuckled.
"Even if I'm president, that's nothing when I'm in front of my seniors!"
"Come on Tamaki-senpai, can't we have some chitchat? I brought some snacks while we talk!" she beamed and brought out a small decorated container from the side. Mirio slapped a hand over his mouth to hide the fact he was salivating just by looking at the snacks (Y/N) brought.
"...No way, I forgot to buy snacks!" Mirio gasped.
"Don't worry, we can get some even though we have to wait long in line!" Nejire pat Mirio on the shoulder, still with her cheerful smile.
"I bought a lot, so we can all share! I didn't meant a one-on-one talk, ya know," (Y/N) ushered both of the upperclassmen to huddle with her. Two of his friends stared at each other knowingly and agreed whole-heartedly at the kind offer of their junior. Mirio asked a few of his classmates if they could use their chairs. As the top one student, they looked starstruck and overly-enthusiastically offered them to him. He caused a few squeals here and there that caught (Y/N)'s curious mind. Sure, he has quite a physique, but there seemed to be something different.
(Y/N) wasn't up to news, she didn't knew who was the Big Three but she knew that if ever she'd come across the three strongest students of UA, possibly even the strongest among liscensed pro-heroes, there was no way she'd treat them any different, maybe with a slightly more respectful tone but nonetheless, she hope they're not snobbish of any sort.
"Alright, a place to be comfortable!" while Mirio was arranging the chairs that surrounded the shy boy's desk, (Y/N) noticed a half-hidden face gazing at her. When she quickly whipped her head to look back, he hid his whole face back in his arms.
After a few quiet munches around Tamaki, he sighed and held his head a little higher to see the faces of people, silently sitting while waiting for him to open up.
"...What do you wanna talk about?" she triumphantly smiled with her shiny teeth showing when Tamaki finally agreed in defeat.
"Glad to meet you, Tamaki-senpai!"
(Y/N) felt as if the Iris Flower isn't the last apology gift she would receive.
After Tamaki gave her an Iris Flower, the next day, she received a Hyssop Flower that was placed on top of her table when she arrived in her classroom after fulfilling her morning duties.
"Tamaki-senpai," he hummed when (Y/N) called. He was writing a few notes on his little notebook in another language that Tamaki noticed that she couldn't understand at all.
"Why are you giving me a flower for the second time?" she asked slowly, studying his expression and moves carefully. She saw that his hand stopped its movement of writing, and his arm seemed to have shown a few veins popping up. Tamaki thought that she was just curious, like yesterday when she asked the first time.
"Maybe he likes you!" Nejire popped up beside (Y/N) with eyes like stars shining.
Tamaki coughed and didn't look at his talkative friend. (Y/N) welcomed Nejire with a wave. He knew that (Y/N) wouldn't take Nejire by word especially when she directed the question to him anyway.
"I...want to be friends with you, and I noticed that you like flowers," he looked up from his notes and tried to give a tiny smile, almost as if it didn't exist. It was a half-truth confession; the affectionate action didn't have the primary purpose of building friendship between them. The only truth in it was for a 'selfish' ambition.
"You shouldn't have! You could earn the money you're using to buy yourself something nice!" she frowned with her eyebrows knitted sadly. Tamaki'z small smile widened slightly, and he can only shake his head in reaction.
(Y/N)'s cough caught the trio's attention when it became excessively loud and violent. Her hands were cupped to her mouth to avoid any fluid from spreading out from her mouth.
"H-Hey, are you alright?!" Mirio stood up quickly began to find an unopened water bottle to help her. Tamaki's eyes flashed in sadness as (Y/N)'s violent coughs worsen.
"Let's go to the clinic and—"
"I-I'm quite alright!" she cut Nejire off and pulled her to sit back down. Tamaki bit down his tongue as he tried his best to wait patiently for her to stop coughing. Nejire rubbed her hand on her back and kept on doing so until her coughing went light.
"Have some water," Mirio offered her the water bottle and just looked at her as she drank every drop.
"Hey, don't be scared! It's not like I'll die or something!" she giggled and shrugged her shoulders carelessly free.
On the third day, Tamaki saw (Y/N) on her seat with a lot of books decorating on top of the table. He noticed that there weren't a lot of students, so he asked permission from the representative to enter. When he was accepted into the room, he quietly walked to the busy student council president.
"Another flower?" (Y/N) quickly whirled to Tamaki's direction showing her sparkling eyes looking between Tamaki's muted eyes and a pink flower with a few ruffle ends in his hand.
"Well...yes," he gave a small nod and placed the flower on one of her book piles.
"I'm surprised that you know a lot of different flowers," she praised him and took his gift. It was a Pink Rhododendron; it didn't look special in any way but she appreciated the variety of flowers that he was giving.
"Why do you have scratches on your elbow?" he pointed at her right elbow that was obvious in his view. (Y/N) chuckled nervously and just shook her hands in dismissal.
"It's nothing, I just tripped, and my elbow got most of the impact," she explained while unconsciously rubbing her injured area.
"You should be careful, you're lucky I brought an ointment with me," he grunted and took out the ointment tube and gave it directly to her. (Y/N) meekly looked at his expression and just nodded, unusual for her bubbly self. He excused himself and just headed out of her classroom.
On the fourth day of the week, (Y/N) began to guess what kind of flower will Tamaki give to her. She thought that it had become a habit for him to give her a flower casually and it wouldn't hurt if she tries to predict what kind of flower was next in the list. When she visited his classroom, she saw him busily arranging his bag at the back of his chair. She went up to him and gave a small tap on his shoulder. When he turned around, she saw him holding out another flower.
"Yellow Carnation? I love it!" she gasped and snatched the flower from shaky his hands. Her radiant eyes twinkled excitedly like an innocent child.
"Oh, such a coincidence," he murmured and just gave a small simper.
"Almost forgot, I'll be attending a meeting by break time, how about you get some of the snacks I prepared for you to eat with Mirio-senpai and Nejire-senpai?"
"No, no, it's fine; you can have all of them," he refused.
"It's a compensation to not being able to hang around with you guys at break time, so just accept it!" she gave him the container and stomped out of his classroom before he could return it to her.
Tamaki started having doubts when he got out from the same flower shop he went on consecutive days. It was the fifth day since they were introduced to each other. He glared at the flower he was holding lightly. He didn't want to give just any flower to her, and so he had to pick this one next.
As much as he wants to do something, he could only do nothing but make her happy.
"Interesting, the Anemone would look great in my mother's garden!" she cheered and placed the flower in a small plastic vase with a decent amount of water inside.
"You brought a vase with you to school?" (Y/N) nodded vigorously and winked.
"I thought that you'd be giving me flowers everyday, so I prepared already!" she grinned as she caressed the flower nimbly.
"The Pansy looks pretty in violet!" she fawned all over at the flower she recently placed in the vase. On the Fifth day, Tamaki gave her the flower while she was on her morning duty.
"Right, right?!" Nejire squealed and jumped up and down.
"You have a great wide dictionary about flowers, huh," he awed as ke kept on observing her innocent expression.
"My mother has a garden with lots of flowers, I don't speak flower language though," she sadly pouted.
"Hey, how are you?" (Y/N) groaned when she heard Nejire's energetic voice. She tried her best to sit up and welcome them directly, but she couldn't lift her head.
"Er, yeah, I'm alright! I just feel tired," she faked a loud yawn for them to hear from a distance.
"I brought you another flower that I don't know what its name is," he said while walking to the side where she was facing. Her eyes were dim until she saw what flower he brought for her this time.
"Hey, it's a Sweetpea, just like me, sweet!" she laughed and gave a long sigh. It was the seventh day of Tamaki offering her different kinds of flowers.
"I hope you'll get back to your energetic self, but don't exert yourself too much," he went down to the level of her chair and directly looked at her with his usual small shy smile.
"Of course, I'll be a good in no time!" that was the last thing Tamaki heard of her.
"Too fast..." it took a few ounces of courage for him to place a hand over the see-through glass. He had hoped (Y/N) to just prank him in full glory, even going as far as to destroy the glass, yet she didn't. He knew that this was her end, but even if he tried, there was no hope. She was terminally ill and even with a lot of money, it was too late. Her parents had told him about her sacrifice when he arrived in the gloomy room.
Of course, he knew about it already.
"Here, I know you like them, so I brought it along with the white lily," it was the first time for Tamaki to voice the name of the flower. He knew what kinds of flowers he was picking for her, knowing full well every detail of what they reflect. He carried a basket full of different flowers to show her through the glass, the same ones as he gave her for the past seven days when they were together.
"I'll always remember you," on the eighth day, he offered her primarily a White Lily in the middle of the flower basket, hoping that one day, in another life, he'll meet her again.
As much as I want you guys to do research on your own, if you wanna see the symbolisms behind every flower I used, I noted down here! If you don't want then...

I wrote this story for my demonstration speech on how to write a short story (I passed:D). I had Tamaki in mind when I wrote this but I guess a little bit of his shyness is left put because he was the one to approach first lmao.
