Pieces of Cait

Help I've fallen into an obsession with a bunch of fictional French revolutionaries and I can't get up. I draw a lot and write a little. Sometimes I even remember to update my Redbubble with stuff from here!

despite not being a cat, courfeyrac is Thomas o'malley in my head

Hey, what do you mean, he's not a cat?

Courfeyrac had, in fact, that animation of youth which may be called the beaute du diable of the mind. Later on, this disappears like the playfulness of the kitten, and all this grace ends, with the bourgeois, on two legs, and with the tomcat, on four paws.-3.4.1, Hapgood

Looks to me like he's a cat! Ain't no line in the whole Les Miserables that says Courfeyrac isn't a cat! XD

Courfeyrac a confirmed canon Catboy???

Find me anything in the book that proves Courfeyrac doesn't look like this

That Courf-cat outfit was stuck in my head all day, the only way out was to draw it.

In our final week of shows we all came down to the theatre one night to take group shots from any major ensemble scenes in full costume, to make sure we could all appreciate the fully-lit efforts of the costume team for years to come.

This was our biggest group - the Beggars in Paris. It's still only about half of our cast. The full cast were genuinely never all in the same room at the same time!

one thing that really annoys me about a lot of les mis productions is their insistence on making the les amis de l'abc older than they are. i know it's partly a schematics thing with hiring younger actors, but to me so much of the tragedy behind the barricade comes from the fact they were kids. they were college students staring at a future they despised, desperate to change it, and they - and the hope they had for a kinder future - were slaughtered. i mean, hell, the musical talks about it! all the time! javert calls them schoolboys, turning is the mothers of paris staring at corpses of boys who could have been their sons, cosette eponine and marius are kids lost in their first loves. idk it seems like such a minor thing but to me it's so core to what makes this story so devastating

Just watched a recording of a community theater production of Les Mis. It has taught me three things. Small theaters are great actually, the acting is best when people are having fun, and it’s kinda funny when they stage Javert’s suicide so that he falls from the back of the bridge instead of the front and they put a mattress behind the wall so the actor doesn’t die but when he falls the audience can hear very clearly the sound of him hitting the mattress.

So about five weeks out from opening we had our OG Grantaire experience some Life Stuff that meant they were unable to continue in a role with solos (we kept them on as Mabeuf!) and, seeing as we had already cast everyone else comfortable singing by themself between our dual cast leads, it didn't take too much convincing for me to jump into my favourite character's role.

Grantaire is no where near my range, and I stress-sang this solo about 30 times each night before curtains up, but it's mine and I'm so fond, and I did not at all realise how visible the talk with Enjolras up the back of the stage was but that hair-flip makes me cackle and one day I WILL animate it.

Shout out to this scene being responsible for my mom asking me - after we watched this footage for the first time with the cast - exactly what the relationship between Grantaire and Enjolras was. Such a great conversation that didn't at all have me praying for a localised asteroid touch down.
