Bad Got Me Good || Waverly + Yuri
ESurely Waverly Archer wasn’t the only one in Central Park hiding a flask in her purse. She sat on a bench, dressed in a skirt and thigh high black socks, and thick black sunglasses. Her feet, stuffed into five inch high heel boots, were tired from wandering aimlessly.
She felt sad, which led to feeling restless, which led to picking out a mark. She was far from a pro, obviously, but she did enjoy restating the fact if only in her mind, that her looks and a short skirt were enough to suspend the rules of reality and let her remember her potential for power.
There a was man in a grey suit, mid-forties, maybe early fifties, who eyed her every time she uncrossed and crossed her legs. He was sitting at one of the tables, near a closing food truck. There were a few other inconsequential people nearby, a mother and her baby, a young man with a tough jaw eating french fries, a few kids smiling, they were skipping out on something, like co-conspirators. No one would notice.
She walked over to the table, one foot crossed over the other, making her small hips sway. “Excuse me,” She asked the man with the Rolex watch, “Would you like some company?”
It was a strange thing to feel alone when surrounded by people. Yet, Yuri isolated. He was aware it was his own doing. The choice of standing off to the side, or in this case, alone at a cement table eating fries, was his. Though, that never deter people from staying. A fact proven more often than none. Perhaps it was his soft nature that drew to him. If only they knew what he really was.
His eyes moved from person to person, watching them. It was a bit of a habit of his. It wasn’t so so much as watching as he was just studying them and making sure they weren’t threats. Yet, he couldn’t help himself from wondering things about them, comparing his life and their’s. Such habit was probably what made him notice her. High socks and heels, it seemed impractical for the park, though that wasn’t what had him watching her.
There was something in her walk that set him off. She had the look of a lioness on the prowl, and she was moving towards her victim. Only the victim was not one to go down easy. No with one look, and Yuri was able to see this man, her target, was not as clean as he portrayed himself to be. A clean suit and expensive watches, were but distractions to what kind of man he was.
Yet, Yuri did nothing. Keeping a slight eye on the situation as he continued snacking.
