Chapter 1

Aiden followed Vengeance out of the building, moving carefully. His side hadn't completely healed and his body hurt from the fight. He could feel his skin slowly knitting itself back together but he wasn’t strong enough to fully heal yet. It had just made his hunger more apparent. He tried to keep his eyes on their surroundings so that he knew where Vengeance was taking him, but his attention kept straying to the fading puncture marks in his neck. The farther they got from a part of the city he was beginning to become familiar with, the more his anxiety began to overtake his hunger.

Why was this man helping him?

Where was he being taken?

His steps slowed and his distraction lessened as Vengeance continued moving away from him. He could no longer pick up the scent of Vengeance’s blood. He felt his thoughts clear and his survival instinct began to kick in.

What was he doing, following a stranger just because he had been promised a meal?

I'm just saying, if there's a curse that runs along your family line and you don't tell your kids about it, how the hell are they supposed to go on a quest to stop it?
