That’s okay.

Your nostalgia is a wonderful thing. It’s not something to keep quiet about or dismiss. It’s beautiful and it reminds us that in those memories there is something worth remembering.

But SSO needed to move on, just like many things that we miss. Our childhood best friends, our favorite toy, our beloved pet. Nothing is static, and what a lovely thing that is. You have been given the opportunity to grow with something. To learn, all over again, why you love it. You will make new memories, in this updated space. 

These new players that weren’t around 8 years ago deserve to make beautiful memories too, so what damage is there in making sure they can enjoy the graphics. And what a kindness, to sacrifice your comfort in order to let someone else relive your love for something. 

How great would it be, in eight years, to hear someone who started playing in 2019 complain about how much better the game used to be. To know that while you were merely adapting, someone else was falling in love.

SSO has evolved so much, Oh god… I just love this game. very much.

So, I’ve had this idea for a better horse maker floating around in my head for a while, and decided to make a mockup because my combined obsessions of domestic animal genetics and game design will not be silenced. The interface is based loosely on how real horse genetics work, which I found was the best way to maximize both realism and creative freedom. Breakdown of the features under the cut.

Jorvik Reimagined - The Watermill of Silversong River

A half-covered bridge seemed like a nice addition since quite a few watermills I looked at had an adjacent bridge and the Silversong watermill is the only section of the river that’s narrow enough to jump across.
