Milo noticed how nervous she was instantly and shook his head. “You have no reason to be nervous Lil and here have my jacket.” It was huge on her but he’d rather that than her be cold. “I’ll be with you the whole time okay? Only point where I’d have to leave is for something like a toilet break or emergency.” Of course the client he was taking her to see was notorious for being a ladies man. He liked him but he was a few years younger than him and had more girlfriend than Milo had ever had.

“I’m not! Thank you.” She slipped on his jacket with ease, wrapping it around her made her feel comfortable. “You promise?” It was childish but Lillith didn’t like the idea of being left alone in this huge building. Milo always protected her and he couldn’t do that if he was gone. They got into the elevator and while Lillith was tempted to press all the buttons so they would get there even later, she held herself instead.

Lillith, meanwhile, was cooking Robert breakfast, it was nice to cook. Columbus and Eloi only drank blood and the ghosts couldn’t consume anything so Robert was a breath of fresh air. Being a werewolf, he got particularly hungry after a full moon so Lillith was always prepared to cook him up a huge meal and Alec was always prepared to keep her company. It was sweet of him and she always paid him in cups of coffee, even though he couldn’t drink it.  Lillith looked over her shoulder at Prim and nodded happily, “Nice to see you accepting your afterlife.” Prim was the most difficult person to transfer from regular life to afterlife, especially since she didn’t want her regular life but with much convincing, Lillith felt she was turning it around. She wasn’t however expecting Alec to ask. “Yes! Of course! I’m sorry I didn’t offer sooner but I didn’t want to thrust you into our mad household.” It was very hypocritical of her as she definitely forced Prim into their mad household but it was water under the bridge.

Alec smiled as she accepted his request and shook his head. “No of course I didn’t expect you to offer I just wanted to learn how to turn pages. You seem to be quite good at it.” He thought he caught Prim rolling her eyes with a smirk before she turned to Lillith but he brushed it off. Since he died life had become even more mundane than it ever was. Sometimes he would go to see his little brother and parents to find that despite still mourning the loss of him they were getting on with life. He was happy to see Chester even beginning to write again. Alec did wish that he could write him a letter even if he had to pretend it was a letter he wrote while still alive. There was so much left to say but he also knew the others would warn him against writing one so he didn’t mention that one aloud.

ImageImage

“Oh! Well, thank you. Of course I’ll teach you!” More time with Alec, even if spending ages watching him turn a page, that was something only Lillith could sign up for. Besides Prim would be there to nudge her when she was being borderline creepy about it.

Since Alec died, when he attempted to save Lillith’s already-dead-life, there had been some sort of agreement that Lillith owed him everything. She was pretty much the reason he died and no matter how many times she was told it wasn’t her fault, she knew it was and would make sure to do as much as she could to repay him.

Lola wasn’t taking her eyes of Nathan for a second, hearing Frank trying to keep his lunch in his stomach and not on the van’s floor. With her eyebrow raising in defiance, she watched him, her face turned quick to horrified, as he took the spit and swallowed it. She looked a second longer before she too was hunched over and trying not to be sick. That was so… gross!
She could hear the female acting like nothing had happened as Frank continued to not puke but Lola couldn’t care less to laugh at the woman’s innocence. She wanted off this stupid van and her body suddenly gained the energy she needed.
She screamed again, a loud wrenching scream exploded from her to gain all three of theirs attention as she thrashed about. “I want off! I want off! I want off! Just let me off! I don’t mean a n y t h i n g to you three! LET ME GO!” It was the equailvent of a two year old’s tantrum if it wasn’t so emotional and desperate for the situational but Lola refused to go out without a fight.

Nathan rose his brows at her fight and clapped happily as she thrashed around. “Wow you’re a crazy little thing. You’ve got some fight in you I’ll give you that but we can’t let you go quite yet considering we’re being tailed by police and honestly I think you’re more useful than you think you are.” He was just playing with her. In a week or two he’d let her go and allow her to go spread his shenanigans around. If there was one thing that could humanise him it’s that hurting someone innocent was never his goal. For a great cause some may have to fall but for now he was dealing with the small fry of the city and none of those meant he had to harm innocents only mess with them so he could strike fear into those around him but that wouldn’t work if they weren’t afraid of him.  Alaska watched Nathan carefully and moved her attention to Lola knowing full well that this wasn’t a situation either her or Frank were comfortable in but Nathan’s word to them was law. They chose to follow him so with one last look to Frank she began to doodle in her notebook to distract from her screaming.

Nathan clapping and happily speaking over her tantrum only made it worse. With all the energy she still had, she raised her tied legs and kicked out at him which caused her to fall off her seat and hit the floor. It didn’t hurt but she stayed there for a beat before attempting to crawl to the end of the van. She wasn’t going to die here, she wasn’t going to stay here and she wasn’t going to be kept a prisoner. She’d rather die on her own terms that let that happen.

She watched him as he gently put her down on the bench, he was incredibly sweet about it and in moments like this, she got to see the shy side of him which made her even happier. As he spoke to the sand, Lola couldn’t help but scan his face before opening her folder quickly when he began to glance back up.  “It’s very simple, we contact the person and arrange something and you go out with them and if it doesn’t work, then that’s okay but if it does, success. I normally do three…” He doesn’t want a girlfriend, remember! “outings before I step out.”  “That’s sweet. My high school sweetheart-” Wow, was she really that old? So old that she was going through her own ‘when I was younger’ story? She stopped there, the story wasn’t that interesting and she wasn’t old.

Nathan nodded at her explanation of it and tried to stay opened to the concept of going out to meet girls he barely knew or didn’t know at all. He was nervous but this was her job and that meant she would be spending more time with him. He appreciated her company it was like having a real friend even if he was paying her.  He leant forward when she paused and tilted his head. “You’re high school sweetheart what?” Nathan was genuinely interested to learn more about her in anyway. She already knew so much about him.

Nathan was too sweet for his own good, she turned to him and gave him a small smile. “My high school sweetheart was a jock, I thought I was going to marry him but he ended up with the head cheerleader. Funny how it works out.” It wasn’t, however, funny in the moment.  “Anyway! I want you to look over the profiles before I confirm anything. I have three girls and one boy who I think are perfect but it’s up to you on who you go on an outing with. Here.” In the folder, she handed the four profiles of Stella Hill, Taylor Christensen, Warren Graham and Max Caulfield. She left the best for last.

Lola raised an eyebrow that Alaska had questioned her but she quickly shrugged it off. It was a fair assumption to make, she did look like trouble. Pointing at one of the more reluctant cheerleaders, she stood back a little allowing room for Alaska to take the lighter off her. “It’s in her bra. She flicked it out earlier.” Lola stated unemotionally, as the bus around her began to scream out for mercy, for justice and for her to stop. So many demands. Lola tried to keep herself from shaking but it was hard when there  was so much noise around her. So much noise, she hated it. She just wanted it to stop. Her hand resting on one of the chairs, her nails gripped into the fabric, as she tried to stop letting all the screams get to and into her head. That was before it was all over. A shot rang out, silencing everyone as Lola checked over herself. She hadn’t been shot but she felt the adeline rush over her. Peace and quiet had begun, the only thing to be heard was her footsteps as she stepped around Alaska and walked towards her saviour, raising her hands in an almost silent begging request to be free. She mumbled a “thank you” softly.

Nathan looked down at the blonde and gestured for her to get off of the bus. He watched as she retreated before turning his attention back to the bus. Alaska had already fished the lighter from the cheerleader and skipped over to Nathan happily. “You’ll all be good and stay quiet now okay? Just like you should’ve stayed quiet when you fucked me over all of those years ago. You realise it’s your fault I am here right? You reap what you sow.” Alaska hopped off of the bus and Nathan followed behind her while locking the doors shut. He had the full ability to blow the bus up and they could all watch. With a small huff he looked over to the blonde while flicking the lighter on and off. “What do you think I should do? Blow them all to bits or let them go? Have they learnt their lesson? I wonder.”

Lola watched the whole scene from outside the bus. Sitting against the side of the road, wrapping her small cardigan around her, she watched as her classmates banged against the windows, yelled and glared at her before the ginger gleefully skipped out. The whole scene made her smile. She began to walk towards them to see what was happening when he asked her a question.  “Let fate decide. Make a line towards them and if the police show up, they live or they die.” She never had a problem with her class but watching them die didn’t really upset her either. She just felt so bored with it all and if this was the only interesting thing that was going to happen, so be it. “Gives you a chance to escape as well.”
