~Something You Wear: From Rick to Michonne~
Michonne examined the wrapped box in her lap wondering if Rick had gotten the cashmere sweater sheād put on her listā¦or maybe the leather joggers.
I hope itās the joggers. I have an off-the-shoulder sweater that would look so good with them.
āMichonne?ā
āHuh?ā
āI really need you to open your gift.ā
Michonne smiled at Rick seated across from her. His knee was nervously bouncing up and down.
āYouāre a little anxious, arenāt you? Iām sure Iāll love whatever it is you got me.ā
āI sure hope so.ā
Michonne turned her attention back to the gift. She tore open the paper and removed the top of the gift box. She pushed the tissue aside and found a piece of paper with the word āGrimesā written on it.
Michonne stared at the paper in confusion. āUmā¦Rick, how am I supposed to wear your last name?ā
āWell, you start by wearing this.ā
Michonne looked up to see Rick now down on one knee, holding out an open ring box.
āRick?!ā
āMichonne, I had all these things I practiced to say but I canāt remember even one word. And, honestly, the only word that really matters right now is the one you say after I ask you this question.ā
Rick took a fortifying breath.
āMichonne, will you marry me?ā
Momentarily speechless, all Michonne could do was nod through her tears before she found her voice. āYes! Yes, Rick, of course Iāll marry you!ā
Rick hopped up and placed the sparkling solitaire on Michonneās finger before gathering his new fiancĆ©e into an embrace and celebratory kiss.
The couple snuggled together on the couch, each lost in their own blissful thoughts.
āRick, I cannot believe you. How long have you been planning this?ā
āWell, Iāve been planning to marry you since the day we first met.ā
Michonne laughed. āRick, we met on the first day of kindergarten twenty years ago.ā
āAnd I knew twenty years ago that I was gonna marry you. Ā But Iāve been planning on proposing for a few months now. I wanted to have something big with all of our family and friends around but with everything thatās going on right nowā¦ā
āNo, this is perfect.ā Michonne held up the paper from the box and looked at Rick. āMichonne Grimes, huh?ā
āYeah, I know youāll wear it well.ā
Michonne nodded. āI will because itās a perfect fitā¦just like us.ā
Rick and Michonne / black and white side profiles.Ā Lost love, *emo song plays*
Remember how Team Family found out Rick and Michonne were together because they caught them coming out of Rickās bedroom half dressed and everyone was looking awkwardly at one another? Like, what kind of fanfic shit? I love it.

And enjoy a short excerpt:Ā
Michonne stole out of bed before the sun, leaving her lover beneath the sheets. Rick sighed as she moved, reaching out a calloused hand towards her. He gripped only empty sheets. Michonne leaned down, brushing a kiss along his brow to soothe him.Ā
āIāll be right back, baby,ā she promised.Ā
āGood,ā Rick mumbled without opening his eyes. He caught her hand in his own, pressing his lips to her sleep-warmed skin.Ā
Happy Birthday to the incomparable Andrew Lincoln, still the best leading man and ship captain ever!

Fall - by Poet Rick for His Michonne
Everything reminds me of you.
Everything.
The breeze that whips up around me and feels nice against my face;
Like one of your soft caresses.
The Autumn Sun;
Warm and bright and beautiful ā just like your smile.
The pretty leaves
Falling to the ground
Remind me of you
Remind me of falling.
A wonderful tumbling.
Like how I fell in love with you: Naturally.
Just like how long I have vowed to love you: Eternally.
Poet Rick has it badā¦ ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøš„°

Subject: Good Morning
Morning Michonne,
Guess I couldnāt hang as well as I thought. I woke up around 1 in the morning to Carl throwing a blanket over me. Dragged myself to bed, but my back is screaming from laying with my laptop on my chest for hours. Getting old is no fun.Ā
I went through your list over breakfast. Is it color-coded Michonne? What kind of masochist uses this many tabs in Excel?Ā
I found a book that I wanted to try. Itās been sitting on my nightstand for years, and itās at the top of your list (Tab 2: Sci-Fi Favorites, Row 3).Ā
Unconventional booklist aside, Kindred is PHENOMENAL. Itās not often I read fiction these days. Iām going to have to pick up more Butler for sure once I finish that one.Ā
Are we on today at noon? Maybe we can multi-task and do lunch while we work.Ā
Let me know,Ā
Rick

Rick,
Not only did I wake up to your judgment-ridden email, but there was a delightfully polite young man at my door, dropping off food. Thrilled as I am to receive food at any time, you canāt imagine my surprise at the name on the receipt. I suppose I canāt turn down your invitation to a working lunch when you so considerately send the lunch ahead of time.Ā
Also, itās alright to be jealous of my cataloging skills. I know it can be a lot when you lay eyes on perfection for the first time. Rest assured, the shock will pass.Ā
Welcome to the wonderful world of Octavia Butler. Canāt wait to chat about it.Ā
See you soon,
Michonne

danaigurira: How do you honor a king? Reeling from the loss of my colleague, my friend, my brother. Struggling for words. Nothing feels adequate. I always marveled at how special Chadwick was. Such a pure hearted, profoundly generous, regal, fun guy. My entire job as Okoye was to respect and protect a king. Honor his leadership. Chadwick made that job profoundly easy. He was the epitome of kindness, elegance, diligence and grace. On many an occasion I would think how thankful I was that he was the leading man I was working closely with. A true class act. And so perfectly equipped to take on the responsibility of leading the franchise that changed everything for Black representation.
He made everyone feel loved, heard and seen. He played great, iconic roles because he possessed inside of himself that connection to greatness to be able to so richly bring them to life. He had a heroic spirit, and marched to the beat of his own drum; hence his excellence as an artist and the incredible courage and determination as he faced lifeās challenges; while still guiding us all.
He was zen and sweet and funny (with the very best laugh), attentive, and truly, truly, good. I canāt even wrap my mind around this loss. A loss resonating in my own heart as well as around the globe. The children he inspired, my heart aches for them, to lose their hero just as they finally found him. I am so thankful to have taken the Black Panther journey with him. To have known him, spent time in his light and leadership and to call him forever a friend.
Lala Ngoxolo Kumkani.
Iāll see you soon.
