When Tony first started programming PETER, he only planned on using his new AI to help JARVIS with his workload. He was special like all of Tony’s creations, true, but nothing about him at first seemed any different from any of his fellow AI’s.

But then as the young AI grew he became more complex than any of his siblings. And as he evolved Tony found himself spending more and more time talking with PETER until he noticed his feelings towards the AI transforming into something new and terrifying. Tony had found himself in the middle of falling in love with his own AI, an AI that he soon discovered, had begun reciprocating them back.

Starker Reverse-AU

Tony's death in the final battle against Thanos was the last straw for Peter. After everything he had been through why did the one person that Peter loved have to pay the price.

But with access to E.D.I.T.H. Peter realised he could get everything he needed to remake Tony. From private CCTV footage to B.A.R.F. sessions, even scans of his brain held within secure medical files. Peter had it all and he used it to recreate Tony from the ground up. Alongside the reprogrammed replica of Dr Cho's cradle Peter made using the schematics and materials E.D.I.T.H. obtained for him Peter hid himself away in an apartment leased under a false name and set himself to the task of bringing Tony back.

Unfortunately there were some differences in Tony's new form that Peter could not get rid of no matter how much he tried. Such as the eyes being a cold arc reactor blue instead of the warm brown they were before, but the differences were inconsequential when held up against the fact that he had managed to bring Tony back, even if it was as an android.

And if the Tony that Peter had created was colder and harsher towards others than the original had been Peter didn't particularly care, because he finally had Tony that loved him back, and he wouldn't give that up for anything.

In which Steve doesn't stop during the fight in Siberia and Tony's injuries were much much worse. Leading Pepper being forced into using extremis to keep Tony alive. Only the Tony who wakes up is a much different one to one who was brought in. Colder and less interested in helping other this Tony finds his closest friends distancing themselves, unable to deal with the change. The only person not to seem to mind is his new protege and fellow superhero Peter Parker. Having no real frame of reference for just how the extremis retrovirus changed him and believing the changes to stem from Rogers betrayal Peter happily spent much time with the genius soaking up what ever the older man taught him.

Maybe in another world, where extremis wasn't used and Tony was like he was before, their relationship together would grow into something resembling ad familial one. This was not that world however, in this one Tony quickly found himself attracted to the young man and set about pursuing an enthusiastic Peter.

And if when the relationship became something more, something deeper and serious he set aside a dosage of extremis specially designed for Peter so that he would never have to lose him, that was Tony's business.
