Friendship goals
What I hate the most is that I know Messi will blame himself. Not just today, not just tomorrow, not just every time he wears the Argentina jersey, but in ten years or twenty years when he thinks of his career. When he thinks about what he has not achieved for his country, for his people, for his home. No amount of individual awards will be enough, because football itself and the national team, particularly, are beyond his ego. This isn’t just my speculation, it is from his own words. Four lost finals will be the crux of what he sees. That pains me, because honestly, he does not deserve that. He deserves more. Nonetheless, I know he will keep fighting and keep pushing forward. Come Moscow, I’m praying and rooting for the most glorious, unexpected miracle. Until then, thank you Messi, for every single ounce of unconditional love and hard work that you have given this team. Thank you Messi, for being one of our fiercest leaders. Thank you Messi, for never giving up on your teammates or your country. Thank you Messi, for being inmessionante.
This is not a DC movie, stop with your hero bullshit. I am childish and if I were getting half of the hate Messi gets, I would quit before the WC to show them what they are without me. It’s not about being strong or not. DON’T YOU FUCKING DARE TO CALL LEO MESSI WEAK. Don’t you dare to call the kid weak who travelled from Argentina to Barcelona with just one bag of clothes, hoping someone will take him in so he can get the treatment he needs. Don’t you dare to call the boy weak who locked himself inside the bathroom so people won’t see his tears and think he’s weak. Don’t you call the kid weak who hid his scars and pain so he could play and train another day. Don’t you dare to call the young man weak who patiently waited for his country to call him because playing for them was his biggest dream even though they will break his heart. Don’t you dare to call him weak when opponents did everything to legally destroy Messi’s contract he fought to stay. Even when his own club burnt his contract. Don’t you dare to call the man weak who heard people insulting his family and mother, hoping he dies, in 2010, only to come back stronger and fought for their love. Something he will never fully earn. Don’t you dare to call the man who gets kicked and insulted every match but can stay calm and collected and buries everything deep inside. Don’t you dare to call the man weak who held his head high against the world that wants to shame and drag him. Leo Messi is one of the strongest people I’ve ever seen, he is a FIGHTER but there are some lost battles that don’t worth fighting and gaining Argentina’s love one of them. He finally saw that.
Lionel Messi says he will retire from the Argentina national team. Lionel Messi told reporters after Argentina’s Copa America Centenario final loss to Chile on penalty kicks that he has decided to retire from the national team. The superstar, who lost his fourth major tournament final and third in as many years on Sunday night, said that after so many missed chances, he is ready to step away. “The national team is over for me,” said Messi to TYC Sports. “It’s not for me after four finals. The decision is made, I believe.”
