“Thank god you’re back, I need to rant.”

She’d only been gone long enough to read Olaf a bedtime story, and yet the words burst from her sister the moment she opened the door, as if Anna had been holding them in for ages. Which, considering the few weeks between Elsa’s last visit to the castle and now, she very well may have been.

image

“That sounds promising,” she chuckled in harmony with the soft click of the door as it shut. Carefully she stepped around the papers of charade prompts strewn across the floor, soundless steps bringing her to where her sister waited on the couch. Elsa settled on the cushion beside her. “Is something wrong?”

“You look like you could use a coffee.”

The words startled her out of a drowsy daze. Ice crystals formed on the armrests of her chair when she jolted, and she blinked up at her friend for a long moment before her sleep-addled brain registered what had been said.

image

“I think I could use another coffee,” she groaned. Flicking the frost from her fingers, she scrubbed futilely at her eyes. There was nothing like hero work to keep a person up all night. It was bad enough that super villains had to wreak havoc—the least they could do was hatch their evil pans at a reasonable hour of the day. “I didn’t get any sleep after that disaster last night. I don’t know how I’m going to face the press this morning.”

  • “You look like you could use a coffee.”
  • “Is that something you want to talk about?”
  • “Come on, sit down. It’s break time.”
  • “I needed that, thanks…”
  • “Here’s a blanket. You looked cold.”
  • “Thank god you’re back, I need to rant.”
  • “Is my sweater ever going to be returned?”
  • “Bad day? Emergency plans are in order.”
  • “Alright your ride has arrived, where to next?”
  • “I’m brushing your hair, it’s a mess.”
  • “You happened to go get lunch and ‘bought too much’ huh?”
  • “Your hugs are the best.”
  • “Hey. Hey. Heeeeeey. Come on. We’re gonna be late, get up.”
  • “I’m late, yes. You should be used to that by now.”
  • “How long as it been that we’ve known each other? Feels like ages.”
  • “There was something on your face, I had to get it off.”
  • “You’re sure people think we’re dating?”
  • “I think it’s hilarious people assume they’re dating just because they’re nice to each other.”
  • “I need to hang out with someone I like, can we pretend to be working for an hour?”
  • “Tea and coffee? What happened?”
  • “Here you go, one forgotten, left it at home in a rush, lost item!”
  • “I’m going for a walk, you want anything?”
  • “… sorry I took a nap on you.”
  • “I suppose I am now requisitioned to being a napping spot.”
  • “We could pretend we’re dating, but that might confuse your significant other, and then that might be a waste of petty effort for the sake of rumors.”

‘She’s… crying?’
Her first shuddering sob cut through his haze like a knife, ripping his uncertainty away for the sake of awe. Why was she crying? Why on earth was she so upset, when she was insisting on holding onto him? Heck, even if she was scared that wouldn’t have made sense as a reaction.
And why was… she insisting so hard that she couldn’t…
Feeling her sobs somehow felt worse than just hearing them. He could feel every hiccup, every tremble, every gasp along his body as if it were his own. It was almost like experiencing them himself.
And then it hit him, her words cutting through to him again, this time with brilliant clarity as it all finally clicked into place.
“I could never hate you, Sora. Not for this. Not for anything.”
‘She missed me,’ he realized. His own tears finally spilling as reality finally set in. ‘She was worried about me, and afraid for me, and…’
Somewhere, in the ever increasing burden of his guilt, self-loathing and regret, Sora had forgotten of the bond they’d shared. It never occurred to him for even a moment, that Elsa might actually understand his pain, and fear for it- albeit for his sake.
He couldn’t respond to her verbally. What came out was a choked little keen. But he grabbed her hands around his chest, clutching them desperately as he started to sniffle. And then his knees gave out, dropping to the ground and dragging her down with him.
And then he finally cried.
It was sort of funny in a way- he hadn’t allowed himself too, not since he’d left her. He didn’t feel as though he deserved the right. After all, she was the one hurt. He was the guilty party. But that pain and fear was still there. And truth was he’d had nightmares each and every night- both of her death, and her hatred.
And so he cried, clutching her arms like a silent plea for her to hold on, like he’d break if she ever let go. It wasn’t until after the worst of his heaves calmed that he was finally able to speak.
Image
“I-I wahanted to tell you!” He swore, still hiccupping and crying all the while. “I just- just wanted to waihait I-” an incoherent sentence broken by his crying. “I’m soharry, Elsaaaaaaaaaaa…” he whined. “I’m really, really sorry…”

Sora was still as a statue, an unmoving pillar as Elsa shook with sobs. She couldn’t even feel him breathe against her, and all at once she was terrified that maybe he wasn’t real, that he would disappear as soon as she let go. For him to be there now didn’t seem possible, but even if this was just a delusion conjured by her exhaustion, she still wasn’t willing to let him go. For weeks she’d been hoping beyond hope for some kind of sign, for some miracle to let her know that he was okay. She had to believe this was it. She had to.

Then a heartbroken sound escaped him and broke the cadence of her cries, and the spell broke along with it.

They both crumpled to the floor. Elsa’s sobs only grew when the warmth of his hands found her own—a sure sign that he was real, that Sora had come back, that he was safe. All the fear and uncertainty of the last few weeks came crashing down on top of her, and she let it sweep her away.

Image

She lost track of how long they sat there, crying and clinging desperately to each other. It was all she could do after waiting and worrying for so long; the relief was so immense that she didn’t have the strength for anything else.

Finally Sora found his voice, though it was thick with tears. “It’s okay.” Her murmured words shuddered in the middle, and were interspersed with hiccups and hitched breaths. “I-It’s okay, I just—I didn’t know where you were, o-or if you were alright—“

A fresh flood of tears burned behind her eyes, and she hid her face in the crook of his neck. Trembling hands clung tighter to his clothes. “I’m just so glad you’re safe.”

Following her new friend, Starfire was glad for the chance to talk to her some more. Especially after recieving such wonderful help in the battle, she would have been very disappointed if that would have been all interaction they’d have.
Of course! I am most thankful for sharing the patrolling with my friends, it must be most challenging to do such alone!” And going out for patrol every single night was next to impossible, wasn’t it? Everyone needed sleep, after all. “Perhaps I can visit when we are not encountering too much trouble, and assist with the patrolling here!
As for how she came here… she actually wasn’t even sure just how far away form Jump City she was.
Image
Most of the distance has come from the fight with my sister. As we both have much strength and endurance, a moving of places while fighting is likely to happen.” Especially once the fight takes place in the air, which had happened here. “And before I came here, she had already pulled me very high towards the sky as she intended to take me along out of the planet, so perhaps the height along with the moving of Earth has changed our location as well.” So many ‘if’s that lead her to surviving the fight without being taken… today was definitely a lucky day. “Are you having experience with fighting those with abilities? You have done very well in the fight!

The offer caught her by surprise, and her gait paused just long enough to give a wide-eyed glance over her shoulder. “Really?” No one had ever offered to help her before. Local law enforcement wasn’t fond of her—they were more likely to call Frostbite a vigilante than the hero she tried so desperately to be—and the news crews only got in her way. Hesitant as she was to be around other people, the idea was awfully tempting.

After a bit longer of walking Elsa finally stopped, deeming them far enough away to be safe for now. Tucked into a back alley alcove and flanked on either side by two tall office buildings, they should be out of sight from anyone who came to investigate the scene of the incident. Finally she let herself relax just so, leaning back against a wall to give her shaking legs a bit of a break. “She was trying to take you off-planet? Why?”

Image

The way she hunched into herself when the questions were turned back on her was involuntary, reflexive. Blue eyes darted down to the trash-littered pavement. “I haven’t been a hero for that long, but I’ve had my fair share of experience.” There wasn’t much large-scale crime in Arendelle, but there’d already been enough to last her a lifetime. “Though I’m sure it’s nothing compared to what you’re used to.”

the princess’  stomach churned when her sister mentioned Hans. She loathed the fact that she had been so READY to leave Arendelle to the mercy of someone she hardly knew. Anna’s brow knit as she listened to Elsa. She often fought the guilt of her past, but she could not fault the actions of that lonely girl. Anna watched in awe as her sister reconstructed the staircase before her very eyes. She would forever adore her companion’s power.
image

Elsa, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have trusted Hans as much as I did. I didn’t know him, but he seemed like every dream I’ve ever had. He couldn’t - I never - ❜   Anna sighed. She hung her head, following Elsa’s stride.    I couldn’t be alone, anymore. He talked about such a beautiful life, together. I wanted that so much, and it really effected my judgement. I’m so, sosorry.

Anna eagerly took her sister’s hand in her own. She wanted to make amends for her RASH decisions. She would support Elsa to the very end, knowing well the consequences of choosing others over family.    I’m glad you’re willing to show all of this to me - but if it still makes you uncomfortable, we can always go home. I’m sure Kai has some hot chocolate waiting for us.

I should be the one apologizing.” She shook her head with a reassuring smile. She wasn’t telling Anna any of this to make her feel guilty. “Your loneliness was my fault. I never should have shut you out.” If only she’d been more careful when they were children. If only she’d tried to accept herself long ago, instead of staying sequestered away and drowning herself in fear.

“It’s alright,” she assured, not once hesitating in her slow gait up the castle’s steps. It was painful, but Elsa needed to do this. She needed to face everything that had happened, and even more so, she needed to share it with Anna.

She’d made a lifetime’s worth of mistakes. Removing these barriers, revealing these last secrets...it was the only way she could think of to start to make amends.

The double doors swung open soundlessly, allowing the sisters to cross into the foyer. Surprisingly the main room was completely undamaged: flawless, glittering plains of ice stretched all around them, untouched by the time that had passed. Standing in the same spot where Anna had pleaded so desperately for her to come home caused emotions to catch in her throat.

image

“You tried so hard to get me to come back to Arendelle. I’d done nothing to deserve it, yet all you wanted was to help me fix things. To set things right.” She gazed up at the balcony where she once had tried to turn her back, to push Anna away, and squeezed her sister’s hand. “That’s what I’m trying to do now. I kept my powers a secret for so long, but I don’t want to hide from you anymore. Even if it’s hard, I want you to know everything.”

Deep down Elsa was terrified of what Anna would say, but she couldn’t stop now. This was the final piece, the final secret. Once Anna knew, maybe then she would finally feel the relief she’d been so desperately seeking.

A deep breath shuddered through her, after which she offered Anna a wry smile. “I’m sorry for throwing you out...literally. I didn’t mean for Marshmallow to chase you like that.”

Marinette beamed as she wrote it all down. Oh, how she would love to give the woman a personal tour, honestly. Maybe she could stop by as Ladybug to offer her a trip around? No, no, Tikki would be furious if she was to use her power to be a chauffeur.  However, she nodded, waving to her. “I hope I will! Take care, and thank you for stopping by!”
An easy night of patrol and usual homework had set Marinette to thinking nothing was out of the ordinary, but her thoughts did linger on the woman who had stopped by earlier that day. Bringing Tikki’s forehead to her lips to kiss her good night, the girl whispered whistfully, “I hope she liked the pastries.”
Image
The next day, Marinette was once again manning the front counter of the bakery. A tradition when she was out of school and on the busier days to help her parents, as long as she did not have any other plans. As the door chimed open, the girl straightened up and gave her best customer-service smile. “Welcome to Tom and Sabine’s patisserie!”

The next day saw Elsa walking down the semi-familiar Parisian street, following the scent of fresh pastries more than her memory of where to go. Thankfully she spotted the storefront just before she made a wrong turn. The bell above the door chimed a tune as happy as her smile as she stepped inside, immediately catching sight of the same girl from yesterday behind the counter.

Image

“Don’t be alarmed, but I think you might have a regular customer on your hands.” A few steps carried her to the counter, unable to help a glance at the array of pastries in the case before her eyes returned to Marinette. “Everything was delicious! My sister inhaled the chocolate soufflés. I’ve never seen her eat that fast, which is saying something.”

“Elsa, Elsa, it’s snowing!”
image

Joining her sister at the open window, Elsa reached a hand out into the chill air, grinning as a few snowflakes landed in her palm. “This is the first snow of the year!” She gave Anna a playful glance. “So, what do you say? Do you want to build a snowman?”

Elsa did appear to be happy, which made Eugene smile in turn. It wasn’t everything he’d heard, but he chose to repeat selectively. After all it didn’t make the good any less true.
“I was thinking purple and gold like the rest. These are our traditional colors - or something new?” He gestured vaguely while he thought about his choices. “Royal blue, light blue, cream like her room… she likes every color there is! As far as we know.”

“True. And you can’t exactly ask what she prefers,” she chuckled softly. “If you want the guests to personalize the balloons, you could test which colors show writing better, and then base the color scheme around that?”

Image

A thought came to her then, and she gestured towards the bustling streets of Arendelle square. “Maybe perusing a few shops would help make some of your remaining decisions? We could visit the florist, or the tailor’s to look at table linens.” She didn’t know what all he’d already planned for the celebration, but in her experience with party planning, being able to see her choices in person always helped.

LOCKED OUT. Now that was an (un)fortunate occurrence, but Tadashi couldn’t help it — besides pitying Elsa for being caught in such troublesome circumstances, it had led her to his doorstep… and he secretly thanked the heavens for it. He was always such a casual person, not too direct, but certainly not shy. And yet asking Elsa out had been difficult. It never seemed like the right time, company-wise or for whatever other reason. So truth be told, this was the perfect way to spend some time with her without putting too much pressure on the whole thing. ‘After the rain goes, there’s a rainbow,’ wasn’t that the phrase?
Still, glad as he was to have her knocking on his door today, this feeling didn’t manifest itself in the form of a smile. Tadashi Hamada kept those thoughts hidden. He wasn’t the type of person to make a point of displaying amusement under unfortunate events, after all, and looking at the drenched figure beside him, this was still very much an unfortunate thing. He just hoped she hadn’t been out there for too long.
Image
“Not a problem,” he said, eventually, as he finally flashed her a smile. Any reassuring signs would be good in this scenario, wouldn’t they? “Come on in. I was just about to make some tea.” Gradually, he made his way further into the house, assuming Elsa would follow suit. “Make yourself at home. You can stay as long as you’d like. I’m sure Aunt Cass left some donuts somewhere. – But wait. Can’t believe I forgot.” Shaking his head, one hand on the back of his neck, he let out a sigh and turned to his guest with a rather apologetic look. “You’re completely soaked to the bone. Would you like to borrow some dry clothes? It may not be much, but there has to be something in my closet that’ll keep you warm.”

Irrational as it was, a tiny part of her had worried that Tadashi wouldn’t let her stay. Despite the unfortunate circumstances that got her here—and the kindness he’d displayed every other time they’d talked—she was dropping in unannounced. She wouldn’t have blamed him, and yet that kindness shone once again through an offer that was the exact opposite of her fears. Her smile grew, and she found herself grateful to have the blanket to hide her excitement.

“T-thank you. Tea sounds lovely.” Chattering teeth caused her words to stutter, and she tugged the soft fabric closer around her shoulders. Making tea during a storm was a long-standing ritual for Elsa; there was something about sipping a hot beverage during bad weather that was incredibly soothing. She couldn’t help but think it would be even more enjoyable to share it with Tadashi.

Blue eyes wandered as she followed him deeper inside, anything to keep her gaze from continually flicking back to him like it wanted to. The house was quaint and well-kept, with photos on the walls and personal touches about each space that made it feel lived-in and homey. Judging from the lack of noises filtering through the hush of the rain, it was also empty aside from the two of them. “Are Cass and Hiro home?”

Image

For some reason his next question caught her off guard. A towel to dry off with was one thing, but she hadn’t expected him to offer to loan her new clothes. Had their relationship been different the gesture would have been almost intimate. “Are you sure you wouldn’t mind?” Even as she protested a shiver ran through her, following the trail of water that dripped steadily down her spine from the end of her braid. She glanced down to where a puddle was beginning to form beneath her feet. “I would hate to drip all over your house...”

She was glad to hear that Elsa at least shared that thought. It left her curious as to whether or not the fellow queen would ever have any desire to accompany her on something else- something far more important and exciting than this. To some of the various things she’d read about in books. And while such fantasies made her deepest flame spark with anticipation, she was quick to quell her own thoughts, knowing such a thing would only ever happen if she was willing to give up her position as a monarch. While Tya admittedly had no qualms about it as well as being banished from her country, she assumed Elsa wouldn’t do it so readily.
“There’s much to be seen, really. I only wish we had the ability to travel farther, so I may show you the famous hot springs in Sevalese. Even I enjoy them, and I can rarely stand to be submersed,” she sighed. “But there’s much beauty to be seen a short ways from here, if you are willing to accompany me on a ride?”

“I’d love to see the hot springs.” It seemed a shame not see one of Tya’s favorite spots if it wasn’t too far of a journey, but Elsa understood too well the responsibilities of ruling. Surely Tya couldn’t be away from her kingdom for long no matter the reason.

Image

“Perhaps another time, though. I’m sure there’s much else to see.” She gave a bright, excited smile. She longed to see any part of the kingdom the other monarch wanted to show her; to see the wonder and magic she’d heard so much about firsthand. Curiosity surged through her veins, as potent as her powers. “A ride would be lovely."

“Daisies would be perfect! We could even throw some tulips in for a pop of color. I want this to be the most colorful, most happy, most AMAZING festival ever! I think the people of Arendelle deserve it,” Anna said, smiling brightly. It wasn’t just the townspeople who deserved to celebrate, though — Anna knew that this festival was just as much for herself and her sister as it was for them.
Anna giggled at Elsa’s correction before returning to listening intently. Ice cream, swimming, and bonfires? This would be the PERFECT summer party!
Image
“A bonfire would be amazing! I think everyone would love that. Oh, and we could even make s’mores! Goopy marshmallows and chocolate are one of the best summer treats, if I do say so myself.”

“I already know it will be.” A fond smile accompanied the words as she looked at her sister, their expressions mirror images of excitement and glee. With the two of them working together, the festival couldn’t be anything less than perfect. They all deserved it.

Image

“We haven’t had s’mores in forever,” she said wistfully, though her nose wrinkled a moment later. “We’d better keep them away from Sven, though. Gooey marshmallows and reindeer fur definitely don’t mix.” She thought about that for a moment before adding, “Or gooey marshmallows and snowmen, for that matter. Maybe we can find some kind of substitute for Sven and Olaf. What else do reindeers eat other than carrots?”

((HELLO everyone! <3

So I know it’s been forever, and once again, I’m incredibly sorry for my absence and for being such inconsistent garbage.

HOWEVER

I just saw Frozen 2.

And hoooOOOOOO BOI IS ELSA READY TO RUMBLE.

Which means I’m going to start revamping this blog! I’ve been thinking about doing so for a while, and I think this is the perfect opportunity! I’ll still be keeping all of my old threads for those of you who want to continue them (and if you do then know that I love you to pieces for being such a kind and understanding soul, but if you don’t that’s also totally understandable <3), so I HOPE YOU’RE ALL READY FOR MINE AND ELSA’S TRIUMPHANT RETURN.

I love you all and I look forward to writing with all of you!))

She streaked down the mountain in a flash of violet and black, bruising the air in a rapid, sick motion. The cold did not bother a deity, even if she resided in brimstone, stellar fallout and melted earth. Eris was in pure energy form, no humanistic shape, just color and speed. But—shards of ice and snow cut through her etheric ‘body’, obviously breakaway from the magic Elsa used to propel herself. The shards were not painful to her, but their reaction to her pure form was startling. Eris felt the ‘magic’ that Elsa used to control the ice, trough the ice itself. It was contained somehow as it entered the Goddess’ body. So…the ice-elemental was on par with Chione, at least by mortal standards. She manipulated the element well. She’d deal with what that meant later.
Eris came to a grinding halt, her ether form solidifying into her more ‘human’ appearance, bare feet breaking on the permafrost.
Image
“…THERE’S the little ice-farmers. Time to liven up their ho-hum day with a natural disaster. Are you still in?” Better to see where her darkness was in its development. Eris did not trust mortals to mean it 100% of the time when they swung her way.

The goddess didn’t so much as flinch at Elsa’s attempt to slow her down, passing harmlessly through the barricade of ice and continuing unhindered down the slope. She wasn’t overly surprised, but still let out an incredulous laugh to be stolen by the wind. Even with how much her power had grown, she doubted she could ever even hope to be a match for Eris.

A full ten seconds later she skidded to a halt beside Eris, using her magic to solidify the snow beneath her feet and slow her momentum. Blue eyes glanced back at the jagged trail her descent had clawed into the mountainside before turning her attention to the settlement below.

The ice harvesters were little more than tiny smudges of black and gray against pristine swaths of snow. Watching them scurry about, all at once Elsa felt torn, caught between two halves of herself. She didn’t want to hurt them, necessarily. The ice harvesters weren’t like the people of Arendelle: the people who’d shunned her, driving her away with screams and shouts of monster

But wouldn’t they have done the very same, had they had been there that day?

Elsa’s features darkened. As much as it pained her, deep down she knew that they were all the same: they could never understand her, would never accept her so long as she wielded such power, that of which they could never comprehend much less possess for themselves. They would always try to suppress her, driven by fear or jealousy. Eris had helped her see that truth.

To think that they had no idea the fury they’d incurred.

Image

“I’m still in.”

Sure steps carried her to the very edge of the cliff face. The slope was sheer, but still coated with a dense blanket of snow—more than enough to cross the valley between the cliff and the village. Deep breaths were borne from concentration as much as anger, her gaze piercing as magic gathered in her hands. Arcs of crackling blue whistled and sparked from her fingertips, encasing her in a maelstrom that lit up the darkened sky. She could feel her power building in the air, and wondered if the harvesters could feel it, too. If they could sense the disaster looming on the horizon.

Her power peaked and she struggled to keep it in her grasp. It howled into the night louder than the mountain wind, desperate to be set loose. And with a single thought, a single command, Elsa let it.

Go.

Jagged plumes burst from the mountain, ice screeching like it was alive as it pierced the air. The entire cliff trembled with the impact, and mere moments later the snow along its face collapsed in on itself, hurtling towards the settlement in a wave of roaring thunder.
