I think one of the most damaging ideologies towards children is the conviction that having children isn’t a calling but a moral obligation.

Not to be a crazy radical or anything, but children deserve to be deeply wanted by their parents.

the way how to train your dragon completely ruined my internal scale for good and unique dragon design for the rest of time

dreamworks was confronted with 2 really important questions regarding creature design in how to train your dragon. one: “how do we make the dragon scary but loveable?” two: “how do we make the dragon- a creature that’s nearly a millennia old- fresh...but still recognizable as a dragon?” and they literally just went “cat” and it WORKED

Just curious, but why arent nordic mythology, runes, (the thor movies/comics) considered cultural appropiation but using smudging and nativa american practises is? There are still people in scandinavia who practise the asa belief so it just confuses me and you seem like someone who could answer that

Imagine that you're from a culture of shipwrights and warriors who made their fortunes sailing the rivers and coasts of Europe, interacting with the various cultures and religions of the world, trading for their goods and selling your skills as a mercenary. Imagine that one of them asks about the pendant of Thor on your neck, expressing interest in your god. Sure! You think, you'll sell this guy a Thor pendant and tell him about your religious practices. Why not? You'll make some gold off it.

Now Imagine you're one of the myriad indigenous cultures of north america. Imagine you're a group of outsiders showed up in your country and spent several generations murdering your friends and family by slaughter and disease for your resources. Imagine they made speaking your native language illegal, and made practicing your religion punishable by death, imagine how you'd react if you found out that some of the outsiders we're practicing your religious rites without permission. You'd probably be pretty pissed.

israel just annihilated the al jazeera and ap offices on live tv

absolutely brazen, the sheer balls on these guys

the us has bombed al jazeera offices in the past, claiming they shelter legitimate military targets and islamophobia means the west shrugged it off but the claim that the AP of all groups were sheltering legitimate military targets is going to be a much, much harder sell to the international community.

The owner of the building pleaded with the Israel authorities, for just enough time for journalists to retrieve their equipment.

Not to save his building. Just to save the knowledge.

It was refused.

Chris Pine refuses to answer the question “Would you swipe left or right for Anna Kendrick on Tinder?” and instead gives this response

the clip in the link took me from having kind of a standard, pretty-celebrity crush on Chris Pine to being like “holy shit, I think I would genuinely and in a non-horny fashion like this guy if I knew him in person.“ I mean, he takes a super fucking inappropriate question, gives it the complete lack of acknowledgement it deserves, and says something so intelligent and thoughtful instead of whatever weird answer he was expected to give that nobody even remembers what the original terrible question was by the time he’s done talking.

If Chris Pine ever stops being a class act, please nobody tell me, my heart can’t handle it.

I lov Chris Pine and I think he’s always been a class act. But I think he says these things through the filter of a person who’s never had to be alone for an extended period of time. He’s probably always had a woman on his arm even if they didn’t last long and he moved onto another.

Go five years without a significant other — really inhabit the loneliness that breeds in that place. Then tell me we don’t find happiness in others.

As a person who knows what it’s like to be single for well over five years (ten, in fact), I think he is absolutely and completely right. Of course, a partner can be a source of happiness. But imho, they shouldn’t be the source of happiness, the thing that makes you ‘whole’ as a person. Personally,  I’m a complete person, and I don’t need somebody to complete me. As he said, people can complement each other, and yes, partners in a good relationship make each other happy, of course they do. But to require a relationship in order to be happy and ‘whole’ … no. Doesn’t seem a good idea to me.

something that will never cease to be WACK to me is the fact that after captain america: civil war came out in 2016 #givecaptainamericaaboyfriend was literally trending on twitter, mainly in response to steve’s relationship with bucky in the movie, and instead of taking the fan’s wishes on that front into account at all, marvel instead basically said “and now we will never allow those two characters to interact for more than a few seconds at a time ever again” because apparently the fact that anyone might ever have reason to believe that steve rogers isn’t straight was that horrifying to them

I think about this every day.
