Huh. “Not this job.” For many reasons. “Look at me. What would I even do?” If she could see him behind a desk, they were going to have issues. “No, I’m in this till I die. Why? Are you thinking about handing in your notice?”
she shouldn’t have been surprised, in fact she wasn’t really. but it was still odd to hear. “ i’m sure there is more to you than just this. ” she was thinking too much and had now said too much. good one, chey. but when he asked her back, she just shrugged, looking away from him. “ maybe. ”
“ d’you ever think you’ll quit? ” the question comes out of nowhere, spoken out into the silence that had fallen quite comfortably between them. “ like... for real. just pack up, stop working, stop killing. ”
