Hi,

For those who might’ve wondered, yes I’m still alive and relatively well. Starting the second year of my master’s degree has been a struggle and made me realise how uninterested I was in this degree. I thus decided to drop out, hence this post to let you know that this blog won’t be active anymore (my whole account hasn’t been active for months anyways).

Have a great weekend.

Book Update #22 - The Waves, by Virginia Woolf

The Waves is often regarded as Virginia Woolf's masterpiece, standing with those few works of twentieth-century literature that have created unique forms of their own. In deeply poetic prose, Woolf traces the lives of six children from infancy to death who fleetingly unite around the unseen figure of a seventh child, Percival. Allusive and mysterious, The Waves yields new treasures upon each reading.

Book Update #21 - Doing it, Let’s Talk About Sex, by Hannah Witton

Figuring out how to build and maintain healthy relationships - with your family, friends, romantically and with yourself - is a crucial part of being a teen. It's not easy though, particularly in a digital age where information and advice are so forthcoming it can be hard to know who or what to believe or trust. Porn is everywhere, sexting is the norm and messages about body image are highly mixed. Hannah combats this by tackling subjects ranging from masturbation and puberty to slut shaming and consent in an accessible, relatable and extremely honest way. She is unembarrassed about bringing little-discussed topics into the open, and as such empowers teens to have the confidence to conduct relationships on their terms, and in a way that they feel comfortable with.

Life update

Hi everyone,

I’ve been off of Tumblr for a little while. I’m not much on my laptop (except for Netflix + streaming (we’ve been watching AHS, and the Saw saga!!!)). I’ve been rather busy with work (give me that money), friends, and a “romantic relationship”. It’s been tough to get some actual rest, let alone to work on my dissertation, that I’ve abandoned for months already and that I need to give a sample of by beginning of September.

The next few weeks (last of summer...) are going to be rather busy for me, still. But hopefully, I’ll manage to get some work (study related) done. For now, I have a few hours off: not seeing anyone, no duties, no plans. I’m going to chill, and then, the routine is going to be back on: family evening, work, seeing friends etc...

I hope your summer is going alright, that you’re enjoying it as much as you can.

Have a nice day, lbriscoe/sam, xx

Book Update #20 - Fully Functioning Human (Almost), by Melanie Murphy

Irish YouTuber Melanie Murphy regularly chronicles the ups and downs of her life on her popular channel, discussing topics such as sexuality, skincare, social media and self-esteem. Now, in her first book, she looks with her trademark humour and down-to-earth honesty at the experiences that have shaped her. From learning how to manage her online life, to giving up on the idea of perfection, living with anxiety and the lessons she has learned about relationships, Mel shows us that difficult times can teach us the most about who we are, and by learning to value ourselves, we can overcome whatever life throws at us.

Book Update #19 - Leah on the Offbeat, by Becky Albertalli

When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat - but real life isn't always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she's the only child of a young, single mum, and her life is decidedly less privileged. And even though her mom knows she's bisexual, she hasn't mustered the courage to tell her friends - not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. So Leah really doesn't know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. With prom and college on the horizon, tensions are running high. It's hard for Leah to strike the right note while the people she loves are fighting-especially when she realizes she might love one of them more than she ever intended.

monday to thursday - semester six, week three

my week can be summed up as productive, but only for classes i actually like. tried and still haven’t finished that damn report, but i consoled myself in reading woolf’s to the lighthouse and looking more into my lit classes, and the linguistics one. next week’s load of work is supposed to be lighter, thanks gosh because i need this family time in the countryside i’m suppose to have as of tomorrow.

Life update, again.

Hi there,

I hope everything’s going well for everyone. I haven’t been really active in here in the past weeks considering I haven’t done any kind of studies related work. I’ve been busy with my personal (seeing family, and friends) and romantic life.

Since our secretary is on medical leave, I do not know my grades and whether I passed this first year of my master’s degree, but Em put her grades online and I scored a 85% on my final paper (I did it on the representation of masculinities in Brooklyn Nine-Nine) which means I have an average of 87% in this class. I’m on cloud nine. I’m just hoping I also did well on both papers I wrote on harpies to keep that up!

On a more personal note, I also got new tattoos (yes, with an ’s’. I got two!), a piercing, died my hair, and cut it waaaay shorter than expected. I don’t really feel like myself, but who cares?

Well, take care! I might see y'all next week if I motivate myself enough for it.

I don’t know if you can tell but there’s a rainbow in the first picture. The weather has been a bit all over the place today (rainy and sunny and windy). But I’m personally feeling quite calm for my first exam tomorrow.

Rules: Answer the questions (which you can change if you don’t feel like answering certain questions) and then tag 20 followers you want to get to know better!

Nickname(s)? Sam, Samy, and others too personal to share online

Gender? Female

Star sign? Taurus

Height? ~5′6 (171cm)

Hogwarts house? Slytherin! (Even though I’d been thinking for years that I was a Hufflepuff)

Favourite animal? Dogs, all dogs.

Average hours spent sleeping? Ah, the joke. Well. Good nights mean about 7hrs of sleep. More common nights mean about 5hrs or even less.

Dogs or cats? I’m allergic to cats, and they scare me (far from me or in videos, they’re cute af though). I’m such a dog person that I joked with my sister that the movie method to abduct children by showing them cute dogs would work on us, grown arse women.

Number of blankets you sleep with? Now that summer’s coming, one.

What’s your dream trip? Central Asia, mostly Kazakhstan!

What’s your dream job? *shrug* stop asking me that

When did you make this account? Back in January 2017 I think.

How many followers do you have? 4,644 and still amazed.

How many pets do you have? None anymore

Best places to visit in your town or country? Well, in my town, not much. Around here, though, there are such beautiful hikes to do (I’m on the French Riviera so...)

Favourite ice cream flavour? Pistachio or hazelnut. Well... coconut’s good too.

How often do you read? Either hours a day, or once every two weeks? I’m trying to get out of this reading slump, tbh.

Favourite study locations? Home? I don’t really have one, actually.

Who do you stan? Well... two models (Max Barczak, and Ernest Klimko), and one guy at work?

20 followers/people that I want to get to know even if they don’t follow me! I don’t actually know my followers at all, so anyone reading this post and following me, feel free to do it and tag me in it so that I can check your post out!
