SAME MUSE X SAME MUSE THINGS I STILL WANT ;;

• younger canon x older canon. • one is the imaginary friend of the other. • clones. • one is the multiple personality of the other. • twins. • one is the conscious of the other. • one from the future sent back in time to help the other. • one from the past sent to kill their future self. • one is a specific emotion of the other. such as their ‘happiness’ or their ‘rage’. • one is the guardian angel of the other. • one is light, one is dark. • hero side, villain side.

“Only if you bow to the idea of it. I say our lives are what we make them. Screw destiny and fate. We are the writers of our own story brother, we get to decide who we get to be..”

“Well, all I’ve been so far is sickly and dying- fate has just been trying to kill me the moment I was born. Not sure there’s anything else I can manage.”

Image

“Seeing as you’re still alive you certainly haven’t been giving Fate what she wants!” The wolf smiled. “Defiance isn’t always in revolution brother, it is in the little things and you are stronger than you give yourself credit for. Trust me.”

He is deserving of Fenris’ words, he knows, but such knowledge does little to alleviate the pain. “I did not abandon you”, he retorts. It was not as if he had not tried his best. Angrboda herself died over them, and he brought her back to life – much to the further straining of an already chaotic relationship with Odinn. “None of it was my choice, Fenrisulfr”. The trickster has to bite back a harsher retort. His son needn’t tell him what to feel or how to feel it. He feels quite a lot. “Nor your mother’s choice.”

“I know you didn’t lay out the sentence, you didn’t bind me in gleipnir and send me to that mountain. You didn’t order my honor guard to torture me day in and out..” He didn’t want to argue, he didn’t want to fight but what could he possibly say? “Do you come seeking my forgiveness? For me to just sweep everything away?”

Fenris had never hated Loki, but the hurt hadn’t made it easy to love him. His mother always taught him how to be kind and merciful. “The fact still remains, you may not have abandoned us then, but you certainly try very hard to find us..” The words tasted sour in his mouth and he regretted saying them as soon as they were uttered. “I watched my mother die in front of my eyes; protecting me. I was bound to that mountain and a young witch freed me; giving her life for mine. What have you done for Jormungandr, Hela and myself?”

"Why are you here...? Father.." He asked cautiously, keeping his heart guarded so he might not have it broken again by Loki.

“You have answered it yourself, Fenrisulfr”, the trickster says, his chest heavy with an all too familiar guilt. Fenris – and his siblings – are Loki’s failures to their mother. He cannot help but see in them the defeat and the triumph of his blood brother. “Because I am your father still.”

“Perhaps in title..” His tone wasn’t bitter, merely sad and broken. “But you left us long ago.” Swallowing back venom he bowed his head. “We freed ourselves from Odin’s wrath. So you don’t need to feel guilty about our fates any longer, the slate is wiped. We’ve learned to live without you..”

“I broke your heart so carelessly.”

“Do you want me to preach my forgiveness over and over again father..?” The wolf sighed, truth welling in his throat an he knew it would hurt his father but there was so much that he couldn’t forgive. As much as he loved him, it still hurt everyday feeling as if he was just thrown away. “I love you, you are my father and I forgive you for so much. Yet what you did.. To me..” He found it hard to get the words out. “Perhaps it is the hardship I faced young that made me so strong. Made me soft, you might say it is a weakness but I disagree.”

Looking up to Loki he felt like this might be the moment, the true testament of his growth. From boy, to angered youth, to now matured adult. “I’m letting go of it.. All of it. Right here and now. I hope you would do the same but I can’t make you do anything. The past is in the past, there is no changing that, so let us not constantly beat ourselves over it. Why are we constantly trying to fix what is damaged beyond repair? Why not just start over with each other? Please..”

Sitting in the vehicle, Loki made no comment on how much he loathed the mortal’s motorized carriages, as he usually would if forced to ride inside of one, but instead leans back, eyes closed as he breaths heavily while resting. His guard was down, and while he knew it was dangerous, he did not know if being on guard would save them, or if it would just prolong their deaths. Perhaps a bargain could be made to spare Fenrir, to save Shadow…For his children to live.
“Black order. Children of Thanos. Before they get here..before they come to Midgard or find the ship with the few survivors..You must find Shadow.” Quickly, he tells him where the boy may be located, if the surviving Asgardians had reached Earth, and if not, a spell to contact Shadow. Hesitating, he grips the glass orb from around his neck and offers it to Fenrir. “Use this to find him. Find Thor. The oafs blood ties him to Midgard. He will return here now that Asgard is destroyed.”

Trying to keep focused on driving he slammed the accelerator as fast as he could go. Their family, their people, everyone was in danger. “You make it sound as if you aren’t going to survive this father..” Fenrir’s tone was filled with concern as he glanced over to the trickster, taking the necklace and holding it in his palm as he returned his hand to the steering wheel.

“Don’t you dare leave us.. Don’t even think about sacrificing yourself for us! We will find a way, there is always another way..” He had to hope, if Thanos truly was now on the war path to the stones it could be said that all hope was already lost. The wolf would not back down though, he would not give in to this or even allow his father to. “Just please.. Don’t..” But he knew at the end of the day, Loki did as he wished and even though he tried to be a voice of reason, things might not go how he wished them to. “We need you...”

"It's been a long time.. I've missed you brother.." The wolf said sheepishly, head bowed and wondering if Shadow even wanted to see him after he ran off.

The boy looked up from the tree stump he had been sitting on when he heard the wolf speak. After all that had happened, he didn’t know where his brother had been, much less if Fenrir had survived. His blue-green eyes automatically filled with tears. He reached up pale hands to gentle pet the fur along Fenrir’s nose. “Father is dead.” He spoke finally, his words shaking from his tears. “I thought you were…” He couldn’t bring himself to say it. That he had believed himself to be the only one of the House of Loki left, save for perhaps Hela. His hand fell and he stood up from the stump, wrapping his arms around Fenrir’s neck in an embrace and burying his head into the soft fur to cry.

“I’m here now, you’re still here..” They made it, “we have each other and that is enough for now..” He leaned into Shadow’s arms, his head draping over his brothers shoulder and a paw lifting in comfort. “I thought if I left, that maybe.. Maybe Ragnarok could be stopped, Asgard could be saved.. That everyone would be better off without me. But I was wrong and there isn’t an apology I could make that would even begin to make things right..”

The dust was clearing, the last those who had been affected by Thanos' snap disintegrating before his eyes. It seemed to have been all for nothing. The young god bowed his head, nervous that he might fade but after awhile nothing happened.

He had found what little remained of their people and even fewer that wanted to fight and had rallied them here to protect the mind stone but it had been for nothing and Fenrir had never felt so guilty for sacrificing his own people for nothing.

Looking across the battle field in Wakanda he noticed a familiar figure. "Skuggi..?" He whispered to himself, running fast. "Brother!!" He was so relieved he hadn't been taken. After the death of their father this would have been too much for him to bear.

Falling to his knees his sword fell from his hands, tackling the little one close and holding him tight. "I got you.. We're okay.. We're going to be okay.." He hadn't noticed the tears falling from his eyes, nor how he was covered in grime and blood from those space rats. Their black blood still on his lips and chin after he had changed back from his wolf form.
