Merry Christmas, Baby.

GIF is mine.

Pairings: Letitia x Black Fem Reader

Warnings: Fluff. That's all.

Tish and I were preparing for the yearly tree lighting in our town, a small town where everyone knew everyone. Following the tree lighting, the town usually had a small Christmas festival in the vicinity of the tree lighting.Β

β€œBabe, you ready?” Β

I turn around to find Letitia dressed up in her best coat and the scarf I gave her around her neck. She had on black knitted gloves, jeans, and her typical baseball cap. β€œWell, you look warm.” I say, approaching her with a grin which she returns while assisting me in properly adjusting my coat upon my shoulders. Leaning into her grip, I hum from the kiss she presses against my forehead, right below my beanie.Β

I grab my purse as we leave the house, taking her hand in mine. The sidewalks and streets were crowded with people scrambling to get to the tree lighting site on time, and all I could do was smile at the scene.Β It made me happy to see how joyful others were for this special holiday. I watched as people smiled and said hello to Letitia and me. As we walk across the street, I allow my glance to lift to Letitia, whose attention has been drawn toward the view in front of us.Β

I’ll describe it to you, it’s beautiful. Truly. Β

House after house, lights and inflatable lawn dΓ©cor enliven the night. Faces with huge smiles and excitement in their eyes. Stores lit up from within, ready for the celebration, while the giant tree stood in the midst of town, as lovely and towering as it could be.Β

I feel a tug on my arm and realize I've been spaced out for quite some time.Β

β€œI’ll be back, baby. Find us a spot close to the tree.” Letitia says before rushing off to a nearby store. With a shrug, I scan the space, watching closely for any spot that was at least close enough. As I said, the town is small meaning it was lacking in large population so, I found a spot for Tish and I to stand at rather quickly. Β

Minutes passed and Tish still hadn't returned. I was planning to go to look for her, but every time I tried, someone was there to stop me, whether it was for a quick conversation or simply clustering together and blocking my path.Β β€œIt’s time for the tree lighting!” I hear someone yell, and worry sets in as Letitia was still nowhere to be found.Β She wasn’t next to me, holding my hand. I wasn’t in her embrace, warm with a smile on my face. Instead, I stood alone, a slight pout on my lips and on the brink of tears, watching the giant tree light up from bottom to top.Β

I feel a touch on my shoulder as my head goes limp and my shoulders slump miserably. Looking up, my gaze is drawn to Letitia's. Her face was solemn, and she was fidgeting.Β

β€œTish, you missed the tree lighting” I spoke, but she stays silent. Β

I tilt my head to the side and take a step closer, perplexed. Letitia hushes me before I can say anything, and I watch as she quietly kneels down onto a single knee. My eyes widen and I look around, noticing that there were already eyes on us. Everyone wearing a knowing grin.Β

She hadn’t even said a single word and I already had tears sprinting down my cheeks.Β

Tish inhales. β€œY/N. We’ve been together for almost eight years now. I’ve had this on my mind since day one. I can’t see a life without you, hell, I can’t even see myself without you by my side. You’re a part of me, Y/N and I want it to stay that way. With all this being said...” My breath caught in my throat as I saw Letitia bring out a little velvet box, which housed the most gorgeous ring I'd ever seen.Β

β€œWill you marry me?”

In this time, ugly crying would be incredibly unsightly, but I can't stop myself from sobbing and nodding my head so hard that I could feel my brain move.Β

Letitia rises up, a gorgeous grin on her face, and slides the ring onto my finger before pulling me into a kiss.Β β€œMerry Christmas, baby.” She speaks softly against my lips. We stay there in one other's arms for a while, claps and applause echoing around us. Pulling away, I wipe my tears and stare at her, the grin on my face fading as my expression distorted into a puzzled frown.Β β€œWait, where were you the whole time?” Β

Tish merely grins and hooks her hand in mine.Β β€œI was buying the ring.” Β

As we walk towards the festival, I shake my head and wrap her arm around my neck.Β

β€œI love you.” I say, Letitia smiling down at me and kissing the top of my head.Β β€œI know, baby. I love you too.”
